Australian electro-pop duo Empire of the Sun possess a well-proven ability to entertain. Known for their epic performances chock-full of production value and artistic flare, the band treated fans to one of the most exciting and synergistic concert experiences of the 2013 summer festival circuit. Accompanied on stage by a troupe of costumed dancers and state-of-the-art visuals, Empire of the Sun wowed ticket holders across the US and Europe with their energetic sets of danceable hits like "Alive" from 2013's Ice on the Dune.
Empire of the Sun began as the side project of musicians Luke Steele of The Sleepy Jackson and Nick Littlemore of Pnau. With the success of their 2008 debut album Walking on a Dream, the project became a focal point for the duo, resulting in their first live performances as a band in 2009. In 2013, their sophomore album Ice on the Dune reached No. 3 in Australia and No. 20 on the US Billboard 200, with lead single "Alive" receiving the remix treatment by some of the world's top DJs including David Guetta, Zedd and DJ Tiesto. With their electrifying performance style, adrenalized synths, and electro beats, the duo is not afraid to push the limits of showmanship, leaving fans eager for their 2014 performances.
I have been listening to this band for years, I absolutely love their music and would definitely pay to see them again.
I've wanted to see them since '09...my dream came true!
One of the best concerts I have ever been. The guys just did an amazing performance!!
Empire of the Sun did not disappoint! I have been a fan for a long time and knew they put on an amazing live show. The lights, the sound, the back up dancers were all spot on. The dancers changed their costumes at least every 1 1/2 to 2 songs. Super fun!
So much fun! Empire of the sun and Hellogoodbye were awesome!
Empire was awesome as always! It was my first time at the OC fairgrounds and the venue was small and intimate. It got a little chilly at night, but overall the concert was fantastic!
I have been listening to Empire Of The Sun for years now, and I had been wanting to see them live for a long time. They were playing this year's KROQ Weenie Roast, which was part of the reason we went to that show. I was completely blown away. When you can visualize music, and hear what you visualize, (synesthesia) you get Empire Of The Sun. I couldn't stop listening to them and watching live videos, and we found out they were playing this particular show at the Pacific Ampitheater, my Boyfriend surprised me with tickets! By far the most energetic, fun, happy, beautiful, creative live show that I have ever experienced. DO YOURSELVES A FAVOR AND SEE THEM LIVE!!! They are changing the world one happy song at a time.
You have not experienced a concert quite like this one. Empire of the Sun was everything that people said it would be. We sat next to an Australian couple who was really nice and asked us if we has ever been to one of EOS 's concerts to which we let Them know this would be our first and they let us know we were in for a treat! They also mentioned they had seen then at the Hollywood Bowl and that it was a memorable experience. All in all even if you've never heard of EOS I encourage you to go see them at least once. They provide an energetic and visual experience for all.
Outstanding concert with great visual effect, really good dancers and stunning vocals.
Best live band ever!! Dancers, outfits, light show, lead singer walking through the stands, best show!!
One of the best shows I ever been to. I Love this band and only discoverd them less the a year ago. I plan to see them every time they peform in Southern Cali. Great show and great energy overall!
Great show! Empire of the sun was awesome and it was my first time seeing them live. Great performance and visuals. The costumes and backup dancers were awesome! I would definitley see them again!
2nd time seeing Empire of the Sun. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!
Excellent performance!! Such a great time!! I loved the costumes, lights, and the passion that went into each song!! We were in row F, so we were close to the stage, and I just loved it. I thought the sound wasn't that great though--that it wasn't that amplified. If there were issues when we were in row F, what was the rest of the crowd not hearing? But overall, they're great performers!! LOVED IT!
We had an awesome time! Empire of the Sun is so great live!
They are very good. I though I was listening to their CD. Had a very good time.
empire of the sun always puts on a great show!!!!!
First of all they were late coming out of the stage almost 10 o'clock then when they started playing I noticed they were lip-synching it was the worst concert I ever seen in my life I wasted my money and my time I'd like to have my money back if you can refund me please do
Hellogoodbye was a refreshing, fun, playful surprise. Can't believe this great local band got so little support being minutes from their hometown. Barefoot dancing on a Mexican blanket with a ukulele...unguarded and pure. Loved this band much more in person than the music/ videos I've listened to and watched. The whole band was great! Would definitely see them again. Thanks Hellogoodbye for a great show! Empire of the Sun...had mixed feelings. Want to get mad that Nick Littlemore didn't show up because I so enjoy him. I know you can't believe everything you read, but I searched BEFORE buying our tickets because I didn't want to go without him being there. I'll just say: Nick, you were SORELY missed! Hope all is well with you. Kinda like making a long, special, expensive trip to see people you love, they know you're coming, then one doesn't show without explanation...That being said...got greater appreciation for Luke. Seems much of his acts music had to be pre-recorded; voices and riffs... Especially disappointed in the crowd arriving SO late. Showed disrespect for the opener and for Empire... The opener finished on time, voicing such to the crowd, but we had to wait an entire HOUR for Empire to take the stage. It was announced the reason was so many fans were still arriving in the parking lot. Nice for those who cared to arrive on time. Maybe there was an unseen reason for this, can only hope so, but then they took stage and without Nick...definitely disappointing. However, Luke did an awesome show. Theatrics on stage were great. Music sounded good, some especially so. The quality waned near the end but the songs were loved so still enjoyed. The stage props/ dancers/ costumes were great, lighting was great, Luke's headpieces did not disappoint. Wish could have heard more of their musical only pieces like Lux, Etude, and Big Country. They played most big hits I love. Luke took an audience walk which was great fun...as well as gave his visibly proclaimed 'Luke Steele' guitar a beating (not the Who mind you) but he was fun to watch. Would love to see this band again but won't unless there's a way to be certain Nick will show up. The theater was NOT smoke free as promised but guess that's to be expected but REALLY NOT smoke free to an extreme.
Luke was amazing, he threw off a really good show, it made me feel alive his music gave me tears of exicitement, I was dancing all night and we also got amazing seats it's was totally worth it!
