  • Powerful Performance!

by ksoldo on 11/12/13Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Wow! Blown away by this concert! Conductor - Justin Freer, Soloist - Clara Sanabras, The Dallas Pops Orchestra + 150 person choir accompanied the entire movie of "The Fellowship Of The Ring". Amazing experience and sold out show/standing ovation. If you ever have the chance to see one of these types of performances....DO IT!!!

  • Spectacular!

I wasn't sure what to expect going into this performance, and I was blown away with how incredible it was. I would like to personally thank the musical talent that brought this performance together. The music is a huge part of what makes the LOTR movie, and hearing performance live playing off of the emotion in the movie was an incredibly experience. I would highly recommend this performance to any LORT lovers, or anyone who hasn't seen the movies but can appreciate a good performance. You will not be disappointed. I love the concept of having the live performance to a movie, and I hope this trend will expand and there will be more opportunities like this one.

  • Make sure you get seats in the bottom level

by CoopWelch on 11/12/13Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed the Lord of the Rings concert, but it was a somewhat uncomfortable seating arrangement up in the second level. We had seats two rows up from the front row of our section, and both of us felt like our knees were in our chests. I was a little frustrated that well over half of the audience showed up almost 10 minutes after the show started. That's incredibly rude, and I felt that they shouldn't have been let in to the theater until the intermission began. The show itself was wonderful. There were a few moments where the music wasn't as quiet as it is in the movie, so you catch things that the composer meant to be heard, but you don't hear due to the sound mixing. With the orchestra in the room the biggest moments were those when they stopped playing completely. You immediately knew that these moments were the ones where you absolutely needed to listen to the dialog. I was a little disappointed in the lead vocalist, who sounded like she couldn't quite hit some of the notes that she normally could. She was confident and a talented singer, but it felt like she was sick or something. The boy who sang to end the concert was cute, but also very nervous. He missed a few notes due to his nervousness. Overall, a great experience that I would probably go through again, but with a different seat.

  • Made a great movie better!

by Ballcapkathy on 11/12/13Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

WOW! This was amazing. The live music was intense and really brought out the emotion that was already involved in the movie. Incredible!

  • LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring was awesome!

by EmmaLR on 11/12/13Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

If you're a fan of Tolkien's works and love the musical scores that accompany the films, this event was/is a must see. Hearing the orchestra and choral groups make music along with the film really heigthened the experience. I would be very interested in seeing The Two Towers and The Return of the King presented as The Fellowship of the Ring was.

  • Excellent music and delivery

I loved the music and the singing. Truly awe inspiring! Over all, I would (and have) told my friends to go and see it.

Fantastic! It made watching the movie a completely different experience!

  • Dallas Pops Lord of the Rings

by Cathy56 on 11/11/13Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

My husband really enjoyed the show. I know the movie was an integral part of the show, but it was distracting from the incredibly beautiful music. As time went on , though, I became comfortable with the dual attraction and ended up loving it. Best part, however, was when they ran the credits and you could really focus on the music.

It was a good event, good choir, orchestra, and solo singers. The seats are comfy and rock back and forth.

  • Lord of the Rings Concert

by DBSQRD on 11/11/13Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Having watched this film many, many times, it was just incredible to have the soundtrack come alive with a live performance. It was so well orchestrated and timed that it was way too easy to fall into the feeling that it was the actual soundtrack. We had to constantly remind ourselves we were watching an orchestra, and to pay attention to the musicians and soloists. We have seen the same format done by the DSO and the Wizard of Oz, and both were just excellent. I hope more great films will get this treatment, because we will go to all of them.

  • Lotr was good, could be better

by superreviewer on 11/11/13Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 3 out of 5

Tv too small, too much glare on the tv from lights. Orchestra was amazing! However, the choir was very sub par. My high school choir was better than they were. I would have preferred to just have had the orchestra and no choir than this choir.

  • Fantastic experience!

by CandaceM7 on 11/11/13Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

I wasn't sure what to expect from this type of event, I've never done anything like it. My husband and I are huge LOTR fans so we decided to give it a try, and we were absolutely blown away! I had no idea they would show the entire movie and that the orchestra/band/choirs would play/sing throughout the movie. There were many times that I was engrossed in the movie and forgot that they were actually playing the music live. This was a group of exceptionally talented people, I would recommend this to anyone and I would even go see it again.

  • The Lord of the Rings with Live Music

by FilmscoreFanZ on 11/11/13Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

The full orchestra and choir with the movie was a fantastic experience. I'm not sure if this is a common practice, but I would definitely attend a similar event for any number of movies and would highly recommend it... as long as the price remains reasonable (I bought the lowest price ticket). I did recommend this event through social media and received enthusiastic responses and interest from friends.

Very exciting program and the audience made it more so. It felt like a midnight showing. The orchestra and chorus were so seamless with the film I would forget they were there. Definitely worth the price. Please bring the other 2 films soon!

Oh my goodness, it was amazing. Something about a live orchestra and choir during the show that added an extra level of dynamic. Very well done!!
