Make sure you get seats in the bottom level
by CoopWelch on 11/12/13Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 4 out of 5My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed the Lord of the Rings concert, but it was a somewhat uncomfortable seating arrangement up in the second level. We had seats two rows up from the front row of our section, and both of us felt like our knees were in our chests.
I was a little frustrated that well over half of the audience showed up almost 10 minutes after the show started. That's incredibly rude, and I felt that they shouldn't have been let in to the theater until the intermission began.
The show itself was wonderful. There were a few moments where the music wasn't as quiet as it is in the movie, so you catch things that the composer meant to be heard, but you don't hear due to the sound mixing. With the orchestra in the room the biggest moments were those when they stopped playing completely. You immediately knew that these moments were the ones where you absolutely needed to listen to the dialog.
I was a little disappointed in the lead vocalist, who sounded like she couldn't quite hit some of the notes that she normally could. She was confident and a talented singer, but it felt like she was sick or something. The boy who sang to end the concert was cute, but also very nervous. He missed a few notes due to his nervousness.
Overall, a great experience that I would probably go through again, but with a different seat.
