    the best

by kimmers on 7/9/09Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

It was as good as it was when I saw it in San Francisco with my parents back in the 70"s. It was an memorable night. Go see it, you won't regret it. Get good seat so you can see the actors faces, it will be worth it.

    Always a favorite

by LonghornJ on 7/9/09Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

Chorus Line is one of my all-time favorite musicals & I was pleased by the performance, even from the "nosebleed seats." The performers were well-cast and sang & danced wonderfully.

    A Chorus Line was ok

by wmwb on 7/8/09Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

Not quite like the original. Several of the actors were a little over the top and not quite rooted in what they were saying; they were "acting" it. Dancing was great. You could see the dancers were giving it their all. Singing great. I did think a few points were a little too "choral" sounding....too much concern with crescendos. Also one actor felt the need to over enunciate and kept saying "It twas" this and "it twas" that; over emphasizing his "t's". I also didn't care for some of the "updating" and changes that were made; it made some of the tension of an audition disappear. I didn't want to see the director. And why oh why would the "director/choreographer" dance the final dance with everyone? I know it's the curtain call, but I just thought it wasn't right for that charcter to be in that number...at least not the whole thing. Some musicals need to stay written and sung the way they were originally intended. I'd recommend it to anyone who has never seen this musical simply because you won't have a comparison and you'll enjoy it. Especially if you love theatre - the songs speak for themselves. But the script and the direction just left me just saying "ok".

    Perfect for a teenager!

by lex1932 on 7/8/09Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

My family and I typically only buy tickets to one musical per year due to cost and schedules, but this year was an exception. My niece called me up a couple of weeks ago and said she had to attend a play of some sorts for her English class. She has to write a paper about her theatre experience to turn in the first day of school. A Chorus Line was the only show playing at a time convenient for the both of us. I've seen the movie many times, but she hadn't so she didn't know what to expect. I thought this musical was PERFECT for her! She recently auditioned and made the senior dance team of her school, so the whole audition setting was dead-on. Also, she's 15 so the scenes about puberty and first loves struck a chord with her. She was cracking up at times and made comments about asking her boyfriend if he ever experienced what the men mentioned...I won't repeat it in a review. :0) Anyway, after the show we decided that she can put a personal spin on the paper as far as not just writing about her theatre experience, but actually relating some parts to her real-life experiences. We're both glad this was the only show playing at a time convenient to us.

I expected the dancing to be spectacular, but was also pleasantly surprised at the great acting. I highly recommend this show!

A Chorus Line was a singular sensation

by Texboots on 7/8/09Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

This classic show has withstood the march of time. It's got incredable choreography...hard to remember when those moves were revolutionary. And a superb cast. No one can forget "What I did for love" or "One" once you've heard them. Brilliant.
