Bluesy singer/songwriter Bonnie Raitt has worked long and hard for her multiple Grammy Awards, hit singles and chart-topping records. Since her 1971 eponymous debut, the California-born performer and long-time activist has steadily maintained a music career, albeit with definite peaks and valleys. The red-headed songstress, one of the only women of her time to play guitar using the bottleneck technique, unleashed seven albums in just nine years, though her big commercial break came with her 10th studio set, 1989’s “Nick of Time.” That 11-track collection, produced by Don Was, earned three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.
Not only has the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer tackled multiple U.S. tours and international runs, but she’s also a frequent participant in events of social activism, such as Farm Aid and Amnesty International concerts.
Raitt’s 16th full-length album and most recent studio release, “Slipstream,” hit retailers in 2012. Not only did ticket sales for the support tour soar, but Raitt also landed the best-selling blues album of the year and took home the Grammy for Best Americana Album.

Good show, wasn't great but it was solid. We all enjoyed it.
Although the night started out cold, wet, and windy, Bonnie and Taj warmed up the night! Each played some classic hits mixed in with some great current stuff. Their collaborations really smoked! Bonnie's Angel of Montgomery and Taj's Senor Blues were favorites!
Best show ever! Taj & Bonnie put on a 1st class show. Epic. Great preformance.
Superb both independently and as a duo. And of course Red Rocks only added to the experience.
THe show was a real disappointment. even the great venue of Red Rocks could not save it. A couple of decent moments but in general a big disappointment and I am a big fan of both artists. She sang Angel from Montgomery which is one of my favorite songs ever but what a lifeless version. BLah! Not worth the money or time. Sorry.
Taj Mahal started us off with excellent tunes & never let up. Bonnie was great. Heard old & new and so enjoyed the teaming up of both bands.
the weather sucked, the clouds parted, they warmed us up. the girl can pick it.
An unforgettable collaboration with two top performers and their outstanding bands. Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal are better than they've ever been and the chemistry between the two, both musically and personally, was amazing.
Both were very entertaining and personable during the show. Their music was great, the sound was excellent, and the venue (Red Rocks) unbeatable. Definitely would recommend both performers.
Since Bonnie wasn't promoting a new CD, she primarily played her classics which was fine with me. Taj Mahal, who I wasn't familiar with before this concert, is a strong blues musician. The only downside to the concert was the encore when Bonnie, Taj, and both their bands played. That was just too much and the sound became muddy. After seeing Emmylou Harris, Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, and Bonnie Raitt in the past year, it's pretty clear that 60 is the new 40.
Really great show--they truely are so good together and alone. Bonnie continually puts on a fabulous show. No matter how many times I see her each show is unique and very good.
The concert was unforgettable. From Taj to Bonnie to the tribute to Steve. I have been to many of her concerts and she still has IT!
Bonnie Raitt & Taj Mahal were awsome!! I love shows at The Grandstand, we had great seats and the atmosphere is perfect, who doesn't love a great show and some fabulous food on a stick?!?!
Bonnie alwalys puts on a good show. The show she seemed sad as her brother had just died in April . She shared a lot of memories with the crowd. It was hard for us to not cry... Bonnie enjoys playing her music and she really liked the fact that Ricky Peterson joined the band. He was a good friend of her brother's. Taj Mahal was a good opening band as they seem to fit in with the same kind of music. Bonnie had the blues during this concert, but it was still a very good show.
Awesome show under difficult circumstances and the weather was beautiful for outdoor venue
What an incredible combination of Bonnie Raitt's talent as a soulful singer, and this honest woman (Bonnie) baring her soul for the audience. It was truly a stunning performance.
I heard that the Grandstand concert at the MN state fair was great. I was bummed I wasn't able to use my ticket because I had just moved to Illinois. My friend Pat knew Bonnie and Willie and the Bees back in the day. She and a couple other of our friends were at the fair sitting across the aisle from Dave Ray and Spider John Koerner and some of the band members. Those musicians were Bonnie's band for her first album. Can't believe I missed it! Pat said Bonnie's voice was great and the concert was emotional for her because of the recent death of her brother Steve who had been a long-time resident of MSP. On the other hand, a couple friends here in Illinois went to the Ravinia concert and weren't happy because Bonnie sang so few of her standards.. My experience has been that Bonnie is always great!
Haven't seen Bonnie since the 1970's and have never seen Taj in person-what a treat seeing this concernt at the Minnesota State Fair-perfect evening, great ticket prices and a chance to turn my adult daughter on to some wonderful music.
The opening act was a fun blues band, Taj Mahal. Bonnie played some old songs and switched to some great blues songs. This was the third time I have seen her in concerta nd each time has been totally different. It was a wonderful night of blues music.
Wounderful, the music felt personal & true, Bonnie had infused her soul into the music. T The only downfall was the security was too intence, no dancing in the isle was allowed ... even the "bubble gun" was discouraged.
