About

Bluesy singer/songwriter Bonnie Raitt has worked long and hard for her multiple Grammy Awards, hit singles and chart-topping records. Since her 1971 eponymous debut, the California-born performer and long-time activist has steadily maintained a music career, albeit with definite peaks and valleys. The red-headed songstress, one of the only women of her time to play guitar using the bottleneck technique, unleashed seven albums in just nine years, though her big commercial break came with her 10th studio set, 1989’s “Nick of Time.” That 11-track collection, produced by Don Was, earned three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.

Not only has the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer tackled multiple U.S. tours and international runs, but she’s also a frequent participant in events of social activism, such as Farm Aid and Amnesty International concerts.

Raitt’s 16th full-length album and most recent studio release, “Slipstream,” hit retailers in 2012. Not only did ticket sales for the support tour soar, but Raitt also landed the best-selling blues album of the year and took home the Grammy for Best Americana Album.

  • A really average concert

by brixclix on 8/31/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 3 out of 5

Taj Mahal was mediocre at best and his band really wasn't any better. There was nothing that got either my wife, or me going. Bonne Raitt didn't really do a good song selection. She was wonderful as always, but again, nothing lit us up. Couple that with rain, wind, people constantly walking in front of us, people screaming like idiots and the usual mayhem at Red Rocks and it wasn't the best concert I have attended by a long shot.

  • Great Show

by TimTfan on 8/31/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Unlike my past few concerts at Red Rocks, the sound was perfect. Both Bonnie's and Taj's bands were spot on as well making for a very enjoyable evening. Both performers played many of the hits they are known for but also mixed in other covers and some new songs as well. Despite the cold winds I think everyone in the audience seemed to be "into it" so I rate this a Great Show.

  • BonTaj Roulet.......WOW!!!

by TheUncleMango on 8/31/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal were on this night (Aug.30,09) and Red Rock was the place to be. Taj was moving and shaking and brought it. Bonnie was sweet and soulful. Their bands were just KICK ASS. Left me wanting more. If they are coming to your town, CHECK THEM OUT! Will not be disappointed.

  • BonTaj Roulet

by Beaugart on 8/31/09Minnesota State Fair Grandstand - St PaulRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome show! Bonnie, Taj and bands were excellent individually and together. The culmination... a full encore set of both entire bands on stage playing together was just fantastic. What a show!!!

  • A night of fun and frolic

by coehlita on 8/31/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

The combination of Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal was fantastic at Red Rocks last night. Despite a rocky start after the sound check was bypassed due to weather, these fantastic artists showed what keeps people coming back year after year. It is obvious how much these artists love performing, and the crowd can't help but join in the fun.

  • Great

    by coacher3 on 8/31/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

The first concert I ever attended was Taj Mahal in Albuquerque in 1973 and have been a fan of his ever since. Ironicall, the second concert I ever attended was BonnyRaitt in Wichita in 1976 and have been a big fan of hers ever since. So seeing both articts at the same time at Red Rocks (which I have never been to) was an amazing experience. I could have watched and listened to the for hours and hours. I especiall enjoyed the concert when both of them performed together. Unforgettable experience for me.

by LizPink on 8/31/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Combination of Bonnie & Taj was electric @ Red Rocks! She's absolutely spectacular solo yet the two of them together with their bands was a blast. Reminded me of Janis. Too much fun!!! The entire Rocks was rocking!

  • An intimate evening with Bonnie Raitt & Taj Mahal

by tordish on 8/31/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

Taj opened the show and set the tone for the entire evening. He mixed it up with new material and pulled out some rare classics as well. Taj was my reason for attending the show, as I had not seen him approx. 15 years. Once again he blew the audience away with his antics and love of the blues. Bonnie was great as well with her selection of songs and her connection to the audience . She was a little cold and had to put on another layer of clothes, by the time she was done she had warmed up the entire ampitheatre. When Taj came out and joined Bonnie for some dualing Blue Guitars, it took the show to another level. The intimacy and connection with the audience made everyone feel as though they had just run into long lost friends. Overall : Show was excellent.

  • Bonnie And Taj 'chillin the blues

by ArchyJ on 8/31/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

Awesome site/venue for a concert. Had been to Red Rocks to visit during daylight hours, but a show at night really highlights the scenery and the music! Bonnie is as good or probably better than even, even with the canyon wind in her face drying out those vocal chords constantly, She sure can make that slide guitar sing smoothly, and together with Taj it made an evening to remember. Thanks to the City of Denver for such an excellent ampitheater. Only regret being wishing we could have been closer than row 33, especially since it was my teenage sons first concert.. Worth the trip from remote Alaska!!

  • bontaj was rockn and rolln around

Music - great; energy - fantastic! Plus they're giving a percentage to charity.

  • Fabulous music in an unforgettable venue.

by Hapuna on 8/31/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

As always, Bonnie Raitt did not disappoint. It was my first time seeing Tah Mahal and he was wonderful. They played great together and separately - a very enjoyable evening!

  • Bontaj Roulet/ Let the good times Roll Baby !!!!

by Toons on 8/31/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Oh Yes! Nice and Tasty. A little bit of this and a whole lot of that. I am still all warm and fuzzy, amped but at the same time I feel mellow inside and out. I needed this concert. My wife and I had ourselves a natural ball. Taj Mahal is truly one of the masters of the delta blues style. I had no idea he was such a rock and roll kind of artist. He and Bonnie Raitt did an acoustic version of " Satisfied and Tickled Too". It blew me away just the two of them sitting and picking on acoustic giutars. That was sheer magic, but when Bonnie Raitt sang" Angel from Montgomery" It was the highlight of the whole concert they played for probably 3 hours.

  • Bontaj did not Roulet

by PeckinB on 8/31/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 3 out of 5

On a tough night with high winds and cold, this show just could not lift off. The weather apparently prevented a valid sound check and it definitely showed, with everything not finally getting "right" until about a hour in. While the performances were strong, they never ealy got the crowd really into the music. Kudos to the horns and keyboards, they were the shows highlights. Bonnie is a tremendous blues player...she should stick to this more often.

  • Stand up please!

by DucttapeMurphy on 8/31/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Let me preface this by saying that although I have been a Taj Mahal and Bonnie Raitt fan for many years, this was the first time I have had the opportunity to see either of them live. I think that these two should tour together from now on. They compliment each other perfectly and have such an obvious appreciation for each other that the vibe of their music is amazing. They brought out some great oldies, did some imaginative covers and were having a genuinely great time. It was almost impossible to remain seated for the show, but a lot of people were determined to try. The show was even worth the ticketshafter fees.

  • Great show!!!

    by RedRocker09 on 8/31/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

I've been waiting for a long time for these two to come together. It was a great time - somehow they made it feel like a small club filled with Delta Blues. Both artists brought out some oldie but goodie songs of their repetoire. Quite enjoyable.

  • Bonnie Raitt & Jaj Mahal-Fantasitic!

by goldbond on 8/31/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Bonnie Raitt is always amazing, but paired with Taj Mahal she was beyond amazing. They were great together. It is great to see musicians respect each other so much and truly enjoy playing together. They brought that to the audiance. Red Rocks is the best.

  • the weather couldn't dampen the performers' spirit

by leadvilleharry on 8/31/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

this concert was on my bucket list! and i wasn't disappointed! when bonnie & taj sat down & played alone/together, i could have died & would have be satisfied! thanks to two wonderful artists and their bands! thank you, thank you

  • Bonnie and Taj worked it out

by Glassfitter on 8/31/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Neither Bonnie nor Taj let a cold wet, windy evening stop the show, and by the end of the show the wind had quit and the rain had gone away. Taj always rocks with his signature country and delta blues and last night was no exception. Bonnie had tears in my eyes a couple of time with the beauty of her tunes and her guitar work. And of course all of this in the spectacular venue that is Red Rocks
