Bluesy singer/songwriter Bonnie Raitt has worked long and hard for her multiple Grammy Awards, hit singles and chart-topping records. Since her 1971 eponymous debut, the California-born performer and long-time activist has steadily maintained a music career, albeit with definite peaks and valleys. The red-headed songstress, one of the only women of her time to play guitar using the bottleneck technique, unleashed seven albums in just nine years, though her big commercial break came with her 10th studio set, 1989’s “Nick of Time.” That 11-track collection, produced by Don Was, earned three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.
Not only has the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer tackled multiple U.S. tours and international runs, but she’s also a frequent participant in events of social activism, such as Farm Aid and Amnesty International concerts.
Raitt’s 16th full-length album and most recent studio release, “Slipstream,” hit retailers in 2012. Not only did ticket sales for the support tour soar, but Raitt also landed the best-selling blues album of the year and took home the Grammy for Best Americana Album.

OMG, I never expected such an intensely emotional performance. She and TM were absolutely fantastic. Such a thrill!
Too bad it was windy, the sound was not the best while the wind was blowing. other than that it was great !
I have seen Bonnie at least four times live and although always very engaging with her Minnesota audiences, this one was special. She displayed so much passion and really connected with her audience. She holds a special place in all of our hearts due to her connections here. The partnership with Taj Mahal is delightful and makes for a more interesting concert. The overall package was fun...we didn't realize we had bought the package, but were really happy to have it. It helps to get there hours early to take full advantage of it.
Really entertaining, professional show. Bonnie was very comfortable/conversational with the audience. I was hoping for more of her songs from the 1990's but the setlist was still full and varied. My only major complaint was a lack of volume. We were in row 22 and the PA was not strong enough to drown out the personal conversations around me (I wasn't the only one- I heard several audience members yelling "Turn it up!" throughout the show, even after the louder songs).
I recommend the show, I can never get enough of Bonnie. Taj Mahal was rockin!
Good show. Professional. Fun! Great sound. Great venue. Paid for good tickets BUT there was way too much walking back and forth in my row, 25. Not sure why. One more thing: I wish Bonnie said Thank you 'Colorado' and not just 'Denver' because I'm sure there were people from all over NOT just Denver. Plus, the venue itself is Morrison and not really 'Denver'. ANyway, it was minor, but sort of bugged.
a fantastic show with such a unique setting, one which no one else in this country can beat. the weather held off and made for a perfect setting for the show that could not be beat. both her and Taj looked like they had a great time and made a memorable show for everyone.
I enjoyed the way they mixed both bands and used members from each to have a great time. They appearded to be really enjoying what they were doing despite Bonnie being very emotional playing here where his brother lived and played. I do however wish that the sound person would have turned up Bonnie's guitar it was way too quiet and all other instruments and voices were drowning her out. Loved the show.
Both acts were woderful alone, as expected. The set with both bands together was the best blues I have ever heard performed. Other than the weather, it was well worth the money, and time spent! Thank you to both bands!
Start with Taj Mahal and the Phantom Blues Band; then follow that with Bonnie Raitt and her band; break for some duets of Bonnie and Taj alone; follow that with more Bonnie Raitt and her band; and end the evening with BOTH bands playing together!!! It doesn't get any better than that. The last time I saw two drummers was at a Grateful Dead concert. And two basses, two guitar, two keyboards, sax and trumpet to boot. Now host the entire event at Red Rocks Amphitheater and it's heaven on earth!!! And the frosting on the cake was seeing my friend Hazel Miller in the audience.
Every time I see Bonnie in concert, I am in awe of her talent. She was the one artist that got me through stage 4 cancer with her music. I raised my daughter on her music. She played a good mix of her music and Taj Mahal was AMAZING. I look forward to her next visit to Red Rocks. She makes you feel like you are good friend invited to her party and what a wonderful party! My only regret is that she didn't have time to play more of her music. May God Bless her.
i have always loved bonnie raitt, but have never had the opportunity to attend her concerts. she's every bit as good as i expected, and brought tears to my eyes with "angel from montgomery," which is my favorite song of hers. i remember taj mahal from the 70's, and the combination of their talents was a total pleasure to listen to. red rocks was the perfect venue for my first, and hopefully not last, time hearing bonnie raitt in person!
Taj warmed up the crowd brilliantly. Loved his music and his band was so tight. Bonnie was fantastic. I didn't want it to end.
The concert was great, as expected! Bonnie and Taj? Neither one EVER dissapoints, and this was no exception. Red Rocks was gorgeous, too...what a venue!
Great show - lots of energy. Good mix of both and Bonnie and Taj duet was outstanding. Excellent musicians. Bonnie's versions of You Can't Say You Love Me and Angel from Montgomery were truly unforgettable. Would have liked another half hour of Just Bonnie.
This show rocked! From the beginning to the end of the show. I have seen Bonnie Raitt four times and this one had to be the best. You could have heard a pin drop when she sang Angel From Montgomery. I witnessed some of the best guitar duets in music history when Taj and Bonnie played togehter. She has to be one of the best slide players in the world! of course, both artists can really sing the blues! Loved it!
This was an excellent concert. As a yearly Bonnie Raitt/Redrocks fan,I was very pleased.I could have taken a little more of Bonnie singing,But other than that it was awesome. Thanks Bonnie-keep on singing
RED ROCKS IS SUCH AN AWESOME VENUE AND BONNIE AND TAJ PLAYED BEAUTIFULLY TOGETHER. BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES
Well worth the ticket price, the drive and the weather. All Bonnie and Taj, no opening acts--fabulous! Great voices, great musicians, great sound; nothing could be finer.
Even though the weather at Red Rocks was not cooperating, once they got the kinks worked out of the sound system, it was a great show.
