About

Atsuko Okatsuka is a global standup comedian and actress whose highly anticipated second standup special will premiere in 2025 on Hulu and internationally on Disney+. The special follows the success of Atsuko's debut special THE INTRUDER (HBO), which was named "Best Debut Special of 2022" by the New York Times and one of the "Best Specials of 2022" by Vulture and Variety. Atsuko embarked on her FULL GROWN tour to sold-out theaters worldwide with over 200 shows in 100+ cities, 20+ countries, 4 continents, and over 100K tickets sold. Multiple clips from THE INTRUDER have gone viral garnering more than 100MM views on social media.

In addition to her standup career, Atsuko had roles in two films that debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival: ALL THAT WE LOVE directed by Yen Tan and GROUP THERAPY directed by Neil Berkely and produced by Kevin Hart's Hartbeat Productions. She also wrapped the upcoming feature studio comedy OUTCOME (Apple+) starring Jonah Hill and Keanu Reeves.

Atsuko's infectious joy and viral shenanigans have helped to make her a global star. During a tour stop in the Philippines, she made local news with a viral video of her riding a Jeepney. No stranger to virality, Atsuko has created multiple trending videos including one of her presenting at The Unforgettable Gala which has more than 100MM views, a video where she helped a couple get back together at her San Francisco show, to her starting the #DropChallenge, which brought Beyonce's song "Partition" back onto the charts. Atsuko makes an indelible impression everywhere she goes, with fans sometimes showing up to her shows wearing wigs of her bowl cut. Atsuko won the 2023 Gracie Award for "Best Special" for THE INTRUDER and she was nominated for "Best Comedian" by the Wowie Awards. Named one of Variety's 10 Comics to Watch for 2022, Atsuko made her late-night stand-up debut on THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH JAMES CORDEN with Vulture proclaiming she had "won late-night."

Other on-screen credits include HISTORY OF THE WORLD PT. II (Hulu), ROOM 104 (HBO), and THE SHOW NEXT DOOR WITH RANDALL PARK (ROKU+). Atsuko was recently featured on THIS AMERICAN LIFE with Ira Glass where she told the story of how she came to the U.S. with her grandmother who she was raised by and together they created the #DropChallenge which has amassed more than 10 MM views. Atsuko's unique upbringing has shaped her artfully offbeat and resilient persona which is perfectly embodied by her signature blunt bangs and bowl cut.

She has done global campaigns with Apple, Amazon Prime, Genesis, Kind Bar, Secret Deodorant, Kikori Whiskey and more. With her new special, Okatsuka joins the "Hularious" comedy brand, along with other notable comics including Jim Gaffigan, Bill Burr, Roy Wood Jr. and Ilana Glazer.

We already loved Atsuko's amazing comedy before this show and we were floored, all new material combined with her larger than life contageous positive energy and of course her signature dance moves and colorful fashion. My teen also loved this show. We really enjoy this brand of funny positive clean comedy. Bonus we got to meet Atsuko after the show, what a treat, she is a joyful sunshine of a human. Can't wait for her next show.

I’ve been following Atsuko on IG for over a year now but to see her live - what an amazing experience. She is one of the best comedians I’ve ever seen live. Her energy, timing and wit is so fun to watch. Can’t wait to see her in Montreal again!

The theatre workers are fun and kind upon arrival. And Dylam and Atsuko were HILARIOUS! This was the perfect show to laugh and bring joy for the holidays. So awesome

  • Atsuko was great / Mics were too quiet

by T. Patterson on 11/16/24El Capitan Theater - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

I love seeing Atsuko perform live and was very excited to attend this live taping at El Capitan. Her performance was very funny - loved the childhood/family photos of her when you were walking into the theater and it was such a nice gift to receive a show poster on the way out. There was definitely something wrong with the sound - the mic was way too quiet and I could not hear parts of the performance which was disappointing and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

  • Always fun

I enjoyed the show as usual. I’ve already seen her perform this exact set and still laughed the entire show.

Atsuko was so amazing and funny! Did not stop smiling/laughing the whole time. Her physical comedy is on another level and you are sure to get at least one of her famous dances. Her opener Dylan was amazing as well and was a great surprise

Atsuko Okatsuka is brilliant at asking earnest questions while making clever social commentary. Her physicality and timing are spot-on. An all-around treasure of a writer and performer.

  • Awesome and hilariously show!

by Judy on 10/14/24Center Stage Theater - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

We had a great time at the show. Atsuko was funny and charming! The only setback was the change of show time, which causes us to scramble last minute plan change. But it was all worth it to see Atsuko!

GREAT show ! Atsuko Okatsuka is hilarious and we enjoyed ourselves. The venue was great in getting everyone through the doors quickly and helped everyone avoid jams and long lines in the hallways. Love that Chase members get 30% off concessions!

Atsuko Okatsuka is funny, vulnerable and witty. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed her comedy show at the Barrymore Theater in Madison, WI. She has great stage presence.

  • Great seats, great show

by dnimura on 2/20/24The Masonic - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

I love the venue and both the warm-up act and Atsuko were terrific.

  • Funny, high-energy, and better live

by gaserre on 2/19/24The Masonic - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

Atsuko's intruder show on HBO was funny, but her new show is even better, and live is _way_ better than streaming. We appreciated that her act was free of gratuitous vulgarity and targeted to weirdos like us. We will be there for her next show.

  • Better in person!

by Selena on 2/19/24The Masonic - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

If you loved Atsuko’s HBO special, you will not be disappointed. She had me and my friend laughing from beginning to end!

  • Everything you'd want in a comedy show!

    by JG731 on 2/19/24The Masonic - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

Atsuko does a great job of blending traditional stand up with a touch of theatre. She really keeps the audience engaged with a blend of fresh material, music, and physical comedy. Me and my wife paid for the "meet and greet"after the show and it was well worth the extra money. She really takes the time to have a conversation with her fans and poses for multiple photos and videos. Me and my wife couldn't have asked for a better experience, can't wait to see her again!
