About

Atsuko Okatsuka is a global standup comedian and actress whose highly anticipated second standup special will premiere in 2025 on Hulu and internationally on Disney+. The special follows the success of Atsuko's debut special THE INTRUDER (HBO), which was named "Best Debut Special of 2022" by the New York Times and one of the "Best Specials of 2022" by Vulture and Variety. Atsuko embarked on her FULL GROWN tour to sold-out theaters worldwide with over 200 shows in 100+ cities, 20+ countries, 4 continents, and over 100K tickets sold. Multiple clips from THE INTRUDER have gone viral garnering more than 100MM views on social media.

In addition to her standup career, Atsuko had roles in two films that debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival: ALL THAT WE LOVE directed by Yen Tan and GROUP THERAPY directed by Neil Berkely and produced by Kevin Hart's Hartbeat Productions. She also wrapped the upcoming feature studio comedy OUTCOME (Apple+) starring Jonah Hill and Keanu Reeves.

Atsuko's infectious joy and viral shenanigans have helped to make her a global star. During a tour stop in the Philippines, she made local news with a viral video of her riding a Jeepney. No stranger to virality, Atsuko has created multiple trending videos including one of her presenting at The Unforgettable Gala which has more than 100MM views, a video where she helped a couple get back together at her San Francisco show, to her starting the #DropChallenge, which brought Beyonce's song "Partition" back onto the charts. Atsuko makes an indelible impression everywhere she goes, with fans sometimes showing up to her shows wearing wigs of her bowl cut. Atsuko won the 2023 Gracie Award for "Best Special" for THE INTRUDER and she was nominated for "Best Comedian" by the Wowie Awards. Named one of Variety's 10 Comics to Watch for 2022, Atsuko made her late-night stand-up debut on THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH JAMES CORDEN with Vulture proclaiming she had "won late-night."

Other on-screen credits include HISTORY OF THE WORLD PT. II (Hulu), ROOM 104 (HBO), and THE SHOW NEXT DOOR WITH RANDALL PARK (ROKU+). Atsuko was recently featured on THIS AMERICAN LIFE with Ira Glass where she told the story of how she came to the U.S. with her grandmother who she was raised by and together they created the #DropChallenge which has amassed more than 10 MM views. Atsuko's unique upbringing has shaped her artfully offbeat and resilient persona which is perfectly embodied by her signature blunt bangs and bowl cut.

She has done global campaigns with Apple, Amazon Prime, Genesis, Kind Bar, Secret Deodorant, Kikori Whiskey and more. With her new special, Okatsuka joins the "Hularious" comedy brand, along with other notable comics including Jim Gaffigan, Bill Burr, Roy Wood Jr. and Ilana Glazer.

Atsuko was really funny! It was a great show! She flowed seamlessly between topics and tied in new jokes back to prior parts very well.

Atsuko is a true gem in the comedy world! Her material is so relatable, so universal; her timing and delivery are always on point, and the outfits!!! I’m drawn to more normative attire and I love seeing her with colors I never imagined can go together. She pulls off everything so naturally and effortlessly. And more importantly, thank you for making us laugh at our own inner weirdness too :)

  • She was hilarious, and Dylan, her opener, was manic fun!

by Warren on 1/14/24Palace of Fine Arts - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

I couldn’t imagine a better venue for Atsuko than the Palace of Fine Arts. Large enough to feel the energy of a crowd but still felt super intimate. Parking was super easy and entrance and exit were also convenient. Not a lot of great food options, but the show more than made up for it. Atsuko Okatsuka is one of the coolest and silliest humans. Her comedy style was very biographical, but she dipped into a bit more experimental comedy too, where she kind of did a Groundhog Day type of time loop, and I died. My wife and I are following her career cannot wait to see what she will do with her awesome talent. Dylan was also super funny and has earned a spot on our comedy radar!

  • She does not disappoint

Atsuko was hilarious! I love how she always refers back to her previous jokes. She makes everything connect so well! Not only that, Varsity Theater had an amazing staff. Only issue was parking on a Saturday night.

by Jess on 11/14/23Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I had such an amazing time. It was actually a solo date for me and even though I attended alone I didn’t feel alone. Atsuko is one of my favorite comedians and the event lifted my spirits. Loved the venue too. Beautiful and I had epic seats. I’d definitely go see her again.

  • Loved the show!

She’s amazing! So funny and so fresh! She’s headed to the stars!

  • AMAZING. Perhaps even better than her HBO special.

by alxndrdvl on 11/14/23Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I discovered Atsuko through her HBO special, like most people, and couldn’t pass on the chance to see her new show in person. Worth every penny. Haven’t laughed that hard in a while, and I’m picky when it comes to comedy. If you’ve ever felt like a weirdo, an oddball, an outcast, and enjoy off-the-beaten-path type of humor, you’ll feel right at home. She’s a national treasure.

  • Atsuko Knows Her Audience

by Tia on 11/14/23The Wilbur - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing show! I brought my husband who had no idea who Atsuko was and my friend who wasn’t sure she would enjoy the show because English is her second language and she doesn’t always get comedy. Both of them laughed the whole time and are now Atsuko fans! One side effect of the show is my husband now wakes me up by rubbing my belly and saying “marinating…marinating…marinating…” until I pop up and say “I’m ready to cook!”

  • Awesome and hilarious experience!

Atsuko was hilarious throughout her set, and the Wilbur made the experience seamless. I see a lot of comedy shows, and hers is my favorite among the ones I've seen recently. She's hilarious and charming.

  • She’s Lit

by JDizzle on 10/10/23Neptune Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Atsuko is creative and quirky! She was a blast to see and my sides were hurting the next day from laughing so much. She actually shares her family ethnicity and voyage to the US. Though she adds nice touches of humor, she is sincere in describing her loved ones. Wonderful show! Go watch her 🩵

  • little sad

by dalidoodad on 1/23/23Cobb's Comedy Club - San FranciscoRating: 3 out of 5

I was expecting Atsuko to do a set, but maybe there was one, I just wasn't aware. She was just the host of the whole show, which is sad cause she was what I was went there for. I bought the tickets from last year and waited for this reschedule only to not have a set from her.
