About

Atsuko Okatsuka is a global standup comedian and actress whose highly anticipated second standup special will premiere in 2025 on Hulu and internationally on Disney+. The special follows the success of Atsuko's debut special THE INTRUDER (HBO), which was named "Best Debut Special of 2022" by the New York Times and one of the "Best Specials of 2022" by Vulture and Variety. Atsuko embarked on her FULL GROWN tour to sold-out theaters worldwide with over 200 shows in 100+ cities, 20+ countries, 4 continents, and over 100K tickets sold. Multiple clips from THE INTRUDER have gone viral garnering more than 100MM views on social media.

In addition to her standup career, Atsuko had roles in two films that debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival: ALL THAT WE LOVE directed by Yen Tan and GROUP THERAPY directed by Neil Berkely and produced by Kevin Hart's Hartbeat Productions. She also wrapped the upcoming feature studio comedy OUTCOME (Apple+) starring Jonah Hill and Keanu Reeves.

Atsuko's infectious joy and viral shenanigans have helped to make her a global star. During a tour stop in the Philippines, she made local news with a viral video of her riding a Jeepney. No stranger to virality, Atsuko has created multiple trending videos including one of her presenting at The Unforgettable Gala which has more than 100MM views, a video where she helped a couple get back together at her San Francisco show, to her starting the #DropChallenge, which brought Beyonce's song "Partition" back onto the charts. Atsuko makes an indelible impression everywhere she goes, with fans sometimes showing up to her shows wearing wigs of her bowl cut. Atsuko won the 2023 Gracie Award for "Best Special" for THE INTRUDER and she was nominated for "Best Comedian" by the Wowie Awards. Named one of Variety's 10 Comics to Watch for 2022, Atsuko made her late-night stand-up debut on THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH JAMES CORDEN with Vulture proclaiming she had "won late-night."

Other on-screen credits include HISTORY OF THE WORLD PT. II (Hulu), ROOM 104 (HBO), and THE SHOW NEXT DOOR WITH RANDALL PARK (ROKU+). Atsuko was recently featured on THIS AMERICAN LIFE with Ira Glass where she told the story of how she came to the U.S. with her grandmother who she was raised by and together they created the #DropChallenge which has amassed more than 10 MM views. Atsuko's unique upbringing has shaped her artfully offbeat and resilient persona which is perfectly embodied by her signature blunt bangs and bowl cut.

She has done global campaigns with Apple, Amazon Prime, Genesis, Kind Bar, Secret Deodorant, Kikori Whiskey and more. With her new special, Okatsuka joins the "Hularious" comedy brand, along with other notable comics including Jim Gaffigan, Bill Burr, Roy Wood Jr. and Ilana Glazer.

  • Underwhelming

by AB on 10/23/25Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

While there were some cute and funny moments, the show and pre show overall was quite flat…

  • Had a hysterical time!!!

by Pattycakes on 10/22/25Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The Beacon Theater was a great venue for Atsuko's comedy, which is also reliant on her body and facial gestures to really hit home her comedic points. I first came across her on Netflix, and it was totally worth it to see her in person. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be back for more of her comedy! 5 stars!

Atsuko Okatsuka’s show was absolutely amazing and extraordinary! I couldn’t stop laughing the entire time. I literally couldn’t feel my face afterward. Her energy, timing, and originality were on another level. One of the best comedy shows I’ve ever been to!

  • Life changing experience

She is not only funniest person I’ve ever known, but also the best story maker and philosopher!! She can bring the world in the better place!

  • If you’re lucky enough to get the chance, go see her!

by ThatWasDerek on 10/20/25Rating: 5 out of 5

I went to see Atsuko at the Beacon Theatre, and she was hilarious! Her opening act was Dylan Adler, and he was so funny. His set had me laughing so much my stomach hurt. Then, Atsuko came on and I laughed for over an hour straight. I saw her special on Hulu and was nervous this set wouldn’t be as funny, but it was even funnier! I wish I went on night one so that I could’ve brought tickets for my friends to come on night two. Honestly, if you can, go see her. You will not regret it. I will definitely be seeing her live again if she comes back to NYC.

  • So fun

by Ben on 10/19/25The Wilbur - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing a stand up comedian and it was so fun. She was amazing, as was Tina her opener. My friend and I had a great time and will definitely be looking forward to Atsuko’s future shows

  • The time FLEW by, I wish we had another hour!

by JP on 10/16/25Moore Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

The sign of a really good comedian is a person who's genuinely funny without having to use vulgarity to get there. Atsuko is smart, hilarious, and an incredible entertainer. I recommend her shows a thousand percent.

  • Phenomenal show!

by SierraLovesLife on 10/14/25Moore Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Dylan and Atsuko were amazing! The venue was great and we got there on time. Very grateful for such a lovely night out!

  • Atsuko was fantastic!

by Sasha on 10/14/25Moore Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I really really enjoyed Atsuko's show! Thank you for coming to Seattle. It was a bit bummer the opening act was not so great. He was very focused on all LGBTQ and part Japanese jokes that are heard pretty often, and hand gestures were too much take for me.

  • Do not think - go and watch live!

by Megg on 10/2/25The Masonic - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

Stunning, hilarious, and full of heart — an absolute must-see live! Atsuko Okatsuka’s performance is like being swept into a whirlwind of sharp wit and playful absurdity, but always grounded in something deeply human. She has a rare gift for making the whole room laugh while also letting you feel seen. So fresh, so funny, and so worth experiencing in person.

  • Sorry not sorry

by JR on 10/2/25Rating: 1 out of 5

It was boring, unrelatable lengthy story telling, not super funny, repetitive, and opening act was catty.

  • Fantastic Night!

by Joanne G on 9/29/25The Masonic - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

Such a hilarious show. Atsuko is a phenomenal storyteller, and I love how far she can take a joke/bit. Her lovable quirkiness really connects with the audience on a human level. This was also my first time at the Masonic, and it was such a great venue. No bad seat in the house and such an elegant older building.

  • !!FUNNY!!

by Kevin on 9/28/25The Masonic - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great night. Her lead in comedian was also very good. We had seen Atsuko on a few talk shows and watched her comedy special so we knew what to expect. She was even better than we expected. A great night.

  • Enjoyable but was hoping to laugh more

by Iceproof on 9/28/25Palace of Fine Arts - San FranciscoRating: 4 out of 5

She was positive and nice and funny but one of her topics went a little long and maybe uncomfortable/ cringe… could have chosen another topic. I know it might be new material for this tour… Ended well final joke.

  • Funny and Fabulous

by Catnipper818 on 9/28/25Palace of Fine Arts - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

Atsuko was super hilarious. Her show was fresh and entertaining. Very engaging too. We love the venue. Great seats, not a bad seat in the house. It was a bit warm though; flying insects were a somewhat distracting. But other than that, we'd definitely check her out again and that venue. Good value for the money.

  • Go see her now before she gets EVEN BIGGER

  • Creative, best comedy EVER

by Risa A. on 9/9/25Punch Line Philly - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

I love comedy. Atsuko is, IMO, top ten funny, like Robin Williams (RIP) hilarious. This was the first time I saw her and can't wait to do the deep dive into her YouTube videos and HBO Special.

  • Hilarious without even trying

by Sarah Fay on 2/1/25L'Olympia - MontrealRating: 5 out of 5

Atsuko delivered a great performance in Montreal. Although I was sitting in the back of the venue, I could see her hilarious facial expressions and body language. Her story intertwined and connected throughout the show in such a smoothless way! I highly recommend her show and I am looking forward to seeing her again.
