About

WICKED is a Tony-winning sensation that has been defying gravity and delighting Broadway audiences since 2003. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the fantastical prequel to The Wizard of Oz was nominated for 10 Tony Awards after it opened at the Gershwin Theatre in New York City, and won three, including Best Actress for Idina Menzel, who played the original Elphaba. The musical’s first national tour opened in 2005 and ever since, WICKED’s touring production has criss-crossed North America offering theatergoers one short day in the Emerald City filled with magic, music and the ”untold true story of the Witches of Oz.” The second national tour — known as the “Munchkinland Tour” — has been an open-ended production since 2009 and now stars Olivia Valli as Elphaba and Celia Hottenstein as Glinda.

    A Fun First

    by Riley on 7/5/23

This was the first real musical I've ever been to, especially of this magnitude, and it was a great experience. The set designs were incredible to see and the costumes were beautiful. The cast is extremely talented, especially the leads, but the entire ensemble was impressive. The songs were great, the singing even better. And the whole story was really well told and funny. I had a great time at the show and would definitely recommend it to others.

Loved my experience at Hobby Center for Broadway’s traveling performance of Wicked. Seats were great, sound and view fantastic. Ushers we’re friendly and efficient. You wouldn’t know you were in Houston, Texas until you step outside in the heat!

    Best Broadway Show Ever!

    by DJ on 7/4/23

I’m no stranger, having seen Wicked about 2 dozen times, but it’d been 5 years since I last attended a performance. I was excited to see new actors in those familiar roles and they did not disappoint. It was outstanding! I got goosebumps the minute the opening music started. The entire theater was on their feet for a well-deserved standing ovation at the end. And all the cast at the stage door afterward were friendly and accommodating, signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans despite having only a short break before the next performance. Wicked will always be my favorite musical and I can’t wait to see it again!

    Outstanding

    by Mrs. P. on 7/4/23

It was an awesome show! However, children under the age of ten should stay home as some dialogue is inappropriate for them. Staff at the Hobby Center were so nice and friendly to us. It left us with a smile on our face!

    Wicked!

    by K.G. on 7/4/23

Best ever graduating girl scout experience. We had dinner. Then watched the fabulous Wicked! performance on June 28th. The plot twists were clever. The music was on point. The singing, dancing, acting were all great! Then they learned how to change a flat tire! No assistance offered by anyone!

    LOVED IT!

    by Sue on 7/4/23

I have seen Wicked about 7-8 times now and always find some little thing I have forgotten. I have to say, this was one of the best touring productions I have seen! My only regret is I didn't get to see it more than once!

    Emotional whiplash

    by Biothespian on 7/3/23

The music is excellent, as I knew it to be already having listened to the recording. The cast was great, particularly the performers in the roles of Elphaba, Fiero and Morrible. My only qualm is with the shows writing. The emotional beats follow so fast upon each other, it’s hard to believe these characters are people with real emotions and it left me with emotional whiplash from watching characters motivations and emotions shift multiple times within a scene. Made it hard to relate or empathize with any of them. Also, the gag of Galinda’s “mispronuncification” of words is dumb, not funny.

    Entertaining, but…

    by Showfan on 7/3/23

While the show was well done and the professionals did an amazing job I struggled to get past the reoccurring reference to the devil. From the first act the symbolism was obvious and disturbing. From a clock that went to 13 hours to the repeated visualization of the satanic goat was off putting.

    The best show, ever

    by SaltyBae on 7/3/23

I cannot say enough things about how good this play was. It was a surprise birthday gift for my sister and she immensely enjoyed it as well. It had you feeling all kinds of emotions and when it got too serious, there was a splash of laughter to break up the seriousness. However, I will continue to come back because I just love how the atmosphere of the theatre and how organized it is. If you're wondering if you should see it, don't hesitate, you will not regret it.

    Great Production

    by Tim on 7/3/23

My wife and I attended Wicked for our anniversary; it did not disappoint. We would place this musical up at the top musicals we have seen. The story was inspiring, funny, and suspenseful. The production and vocals were fantastic. If given the chance, we would visit this musical again in the future. Place it on your “go-to” when in return.
