Come From Away on Tour
The true story of the small town that welcomed the world.
Broadway's COME FROM AWAY has won Best Musical all across North America!
The New York Times Critics' Pick takes you into the heart of the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them. Cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships.
Don't miss this breathtaking new musical written by Tony® nominees Irene Sankoff and David Hein, and helmed by this year's Tony-winning Best Director, Christopher Ashley. Newsweek cheers, "It takes you to a place you never want to leave!"
On 9/11, the world stopped. On 9/12, their stories moved us all.
Actors were amazing. Enjoyed every minute of it beautiful message. The best time ever was filled with laughter and drama.
A nice sweet show. Would go again with no questions.
It won a Tony for a reason—even the teens loved it! Great music, great acting, great singing!
It was fantastic to learn about people helping people! This is the way we should all act. The play was amazing. How you work all from one stage setting was genius!
My wife and I loved it. Terrific music and staging. Great experience!
Great job by the touring company in their acting in Come From Away. Held my interest and before I knew it the play was over.
The back story for this musical seems to be one impossible to bring smiles & laughter but that’s exactly what the actors do. Embodying the warm & unique charm of the Newfoundland residents we are drawn back into an event we know all too well. But we are shown that humanity and kindness prevailed in the little place known as Gander. The songs are memorable and dialogue with the audience puts you front and center with the cast. It’s a musical to put on repeat on your calendar.
COME FROM AWAY was excellent! Great, powerful message. Talented cast!
we throughly enjoyed the show and the theater. will attend again
The Rivercenter in Baton Rouge is a great venue for Broadway Shows! Come From Away was a wonderful production that had to laughing and crying. The cast was amazing. Parking was a breeze, and concessions were great
Come from away was an amazing true story. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The singing was great. I liked it so much that I would see it again.
Come from Away was top-drawer theater based on real people and events during the 9-11 disaster when multiple international flights to the U.S.A. were forced to land in Gander, Newfoundland. This superbly written and produced musical was performed by outstanding players, many of whom had to play more than one part. These transitions were from passengers on a plane to Gander natives, and had to be done quickly on a stage where the sets were altered mostly by rearranging chairs and dimming lights, with no intermissions. Not only were the performers good at quick subtle costume changes to become another character, they were all convincing in manner and voice when they changed personae. The musical was expertly cast with all strong singer/actors, dancers, and a heart-thumping instrumental ensemble that seemed to charge the entire theater with an aura of excitement and anticipation. By the end of the first musical number the audience was drawn into the story, feeling all the joy, sadness, humor, and human compassion throughout, and at the end of the show the entire audience cheered and stood up, giving standing ovations to both cast and musicians. I was moved by the entire production, and left the theater feeling I had witnessed a rare gem of writing, music, and performance at its best-- from the heart.
Best musical I've ever seen! Amazing cast, music, energy, so happy with the entire experience!!
I saw the national touring company of Come From Away Friday night in Pensacola. The show was amazing. Based on true stories, it tells the story of September 11, 2001 in Gander (Newfoundland). The cast brought the characters to life with energy and enthusiasm. The audience was drawn in from the first note. To say the audience exploded into applause at the end is not an exaggeration. It's touching, funny and very informational. It also restores hope in the human race when you realize how welcoming the town of Gander was to the 7000 people who were stranded there. A must see!
We really had no idea what to expect, and what we experienced was unlike most anything on the stage we have seen. This is not a "polished"production, it does glitter with stars, no stunning choreography, its' sets are basically some chairs rearranged to fit the scene a couple of tables, some tree trunks (?). and a backdrop that came into play occasionally. Music is provided by about 8 folks on guitar, a squeeze box, a violin, other instruments and I think a keyboard. The story is relatively well-known. So making this entertaining, funny while also respectful and poignant, had to be a challenge. This group met the challenge. The music was for the most part very upbeat, at times melancholy, and always fit very well into what was occurring on the stage and the mood being projected. The cast for the most part looked like pretty much anyone, which made the effect all the more engrossing. This was a very well done musical that, to me, was semi-surprisingly a wonderful experience. The audience heartily seemed to agree with open laughter and at the end thunderous applause. Well deserved. The play is actually currently playing on Netflix. Catch it live if you can, but if not in your area catch it on Netflix. It is worth it.
Sometimes when the traveling broadway comes through our tiny town we don’t get the A rated version. But these performers were fantastic, well done. Also tonight all of us a piece of history I did not know about. Enjoy the show, it is simple, heartwarming and heart wrenching at the same time.
The high energy of the cast was remarkable. Loved the music and the story.
Staff at venue are great. The show is awesome. The cast play multiple characters with skill and heart. You will experience joy and sadness and leave wishing you had tickets to see it again.
This was a great show about what happened to diverted airline passengers after 9-11. Featured the generous people of Gander. Realistic, hopeful displaying good spirited people.
Great true story of our neighbors to the north and their unexpected visitors during the week of 9-11-2001. As they say: you couldn’t make this up…it really happened.
