About

ADAM CAROLLA is best known as a comedian, actor, radio personality, television host and NY Times best-selling author. He currently hosts The Adam Carolla Show, which holds the Guinness Book of World Records title for “most downloaded podcast," and was recently a star on NBC's Celebrity Apprentice.  His latest book, Not Taco Bell Material, was released in June 2012 from Random House Publishing.

Adam started The Adam Carolla Show podcast with only a computer and a microphone from his home office in February 2009.  That year the podcast was named iTunes #1 Podcast of 2009, and it has only grown since then.  The podcast receives more than five million downloads a month and has been featured in Fast Company Magazine, Entrepreneur, The New York Times, and The Los Angeles Times. Adam’s immediate success prompted him to launch an entire online network, ACE Broadcasting in February 2010, which produces many of iTunes' top podcast programming.

Adam became a New York Times best-selling author when his book, In 50 Years We'll All Be Chicks, topped the charts for ten weeks. The audio version went straight to the #1 position on iTunes and remains there today. His new e-book, Rich Man Poor Man, is now available on iTunes.

Before running his online empire, Adam hosted The Adam Carolla Show on CBS radio stations in Los Angeles, Portland and Las Vegas. The four-hour weekday morning program was syndicated in several major markets, including Seattle, Sacramento and Fresno.

Adam has also starred on ABC's hit reality series Dancing with the Stars, hosted Comedy Central's Too Late with Adam Carolla and starred in TLC's The Adam Carolla Project, which chronicled the renovation and subsequent sale of his boyhood home.

Following brief stints as a skilled carpenter and boxing trainer, Adam began his career in radio after answering an ad seeking a boxing instructor to train then radio personality Jimmy Kimmel of KROQ's Kevin and Bean Show in Los Angeles. He eventually joined the show's repertoire as “Mr. Birchum,” a wood shop teacher. Adam’s success on KROQ led to a hosting job on the nationally syndicated radio program Loveline with Dr. Drew Pinsky. MTV developed a television version of the show, which was co-hosted by Adam and Dr. Drew for five seasons (1996-2000). The duo also authored The Dr. Drew and Adam Book: A Survival Guide to Life and Love.

With his partners Daniel Kellison and Jimmy Kimmel, Adam heads Jackhole Industries, and created and starred in two hit Comedy Central shows, The Man Show and Crank Yankers.

A native of Southern California, Adam currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Lynette, and their twins.

  • Where did the time go???????

I have been an Adam Carolla fan for a long time and my wife just recently learned of him. Both of us had a great time and the two hour long show went by too quickly (because it was so entertaining). It actually ended on a very postive note, something I did not expect. Best bang for your buck.

  • a must for a carolla fan

by ACENDAHOLE on 7/15/12Charline McCombs Empire Theater - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

Been a fan since his first night on loveline when he outshone Rickki Rachtman to the point where it knocked Rickki off the show!! (thank god) Yeah i read some of the other reviews and yeah he does some of the same stories youve heard before, but what comic doesnt? Thing is, maybe im just a little gay on him cause i laughed my balls off at stories i've heard before as he added details and just made it funny and fresh. My buddy was with me and he only knew him from the man show and he didnt stop laughing the whole time so, bang! nuther hardcore fan. Just go and see this show, pretty sure you wont be dissappointed... oh and in the middle of it there was a whole mexican part and 90% of our (san antonio) audience was, well you do the math... i thought maybe he would be shot on stage or at the very least, no laughs, but everyone laughed harder!! takes a great comic to pull that off!! So i say to you GOODAY SIR!!! and godspeed ACE!!

Great show. Hilarious and different. He's a gem. Plus the venue was terrific.

Walking into Spreckels, it was incredibly crowded, and difficult to get a drink or get to the will call window. It was very disorganized and took forever to get up to the front once they finally started letting people in, it could have been much better organized. As to the show itself, it was totally not what I was expecting. I listen to Adam Carolla's podcast daily and I love his humor, although I recognize that we differ politically. I had no idea who Dennis Prager was, and now I know why. I pretty much disagreed with every word out of that man's mouth. He was a stereotypical conservative talk radio host and had nothing interesting to say. I also felt like Adam was more restrained as to what he was saying and talking about so as not to offend Prager. Adam was not nearly as funny as he normally was, although based on the composition of the audience, it seemed that more people were there for Prager. The questions from the audience were mostly awful, with a few interesting ones thrown in. I think I'd rather go see his podcast live at Irvine Improv instead of seeing him in this format again.

We went to see Carolla last year (June 2011) in San Fran and this show in Napa (June 2012) was EXACTLY the same material!! Only thing new was the opening joke about the freeways. Other than that, the exact SAME material, SAME slideshows. Wasted a date night out and payed the babysitter for nothing. Disappointed. Won't be back.

Great event, I had a lot of fun. Nice theater, too.

  • Needs an update

by PrincessLucy on 6/14/12Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 3 out of 5

I am not Adam's biggest fan and went because my husband wanted to see the show. Adam is entertaining, but, even my husband (a huge fan) agrees that Adam needs to update his material. Anyone who listens to Adam's podcasts (my husband) has already heard the bits he had in his live show. There were a couple of things I found genuinely funny but I cannot recall what they were. The Uptown is a great venue. The theatre is larger than expected and is remarkably well restored. Food and drink prices are high. Too high for me. I passed on the wine and beer.

    by Chick55 on 6/13/12Spreckels Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

These two gentlemen were so fun to watch!! Carolla was hilarious and Prager was absolutely brilliant!! Both men were insightful and just fun to be around. It was an incredible evening!!! Would highly recommend it and I wish they would take their show here in Vegas!

  • Best Date Ever

by picklemomma on 6/12/12Spreckels Theatre - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

I didn't know what to expect, these two are very different individuals but together they are just magic. Adam is an absolute genius with his wit and Dennis anchors the show with his wisdom. This was the best date night my husband and I have probably ever had-we'll never forget it.

  • Glad I went

I enjoyed the show but wish Dennis Prager had more to say.

  • Carolla and Prager preach the gospel

by Papiaza on 6/11/12Spreckels Theatre - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

Who would have thought that a Podcast comedian and libertarian talk show host would complement each other so well. The discussions of society, America, and self achievement was thought provoking. Clearly the duo have a mutual admiration society and as a result there are usually no disagreements over the cure for society's ills. But it's funny and intelligent at the same time - a rarity in these days of partisan-speak.

Unbelievably funny. I brought 3 friends that aren't huge fans (like me) and all three said afterward that they couldn't believe how funny he was.

  • Adam Carolla in St. Paul

by TJGuitar on 4/25/12Fitzgerald Theater - St PaulRating: 5 out of 5

Adam Carolla is truly genuine comedian telling his life story. He is well worth seeing and be prepared to laugh for the entire show. Adam seems to connect with his audience.

  • Great Show!

by KaylaRaela on 4/24/12Fitzgerald Theater - St PaulRating: 5 out of 5

Adam Carolla's show was awesome! Being a longtime podcast listener, I wasn't sure if I was going to hear anything new, but Adam was definitely instrumental in his show and humored the audience with new jokes and rants. Definitely recommend!

No opener, just Adam. Didn't really seem like stand up, almost more of a funny seminar. He had videos and pictures and talked about his life. He didn't have jokes in the traditional stand up way, just told his life story in a funny way. If you're a fan of Adam you will enjoy the show. Good, but not great. No big finnish which was kind of disappointing.
