About

ADAM CAROLLA is best known as a comedian, actor, radio personality, television host and NY Times best-selling author. He currently hosts The Adam Carolla Show, which holds the Guinness Book of World Records title for “most downloaded podcast," and was recently a star on NBC's Celebrity Apprentice.  His latest book, Not Taco Bell Material, was released in June 2012 from Random House Publishing.

Adam started The Adam Carolla Show podcast with only a computer and a microphone from his home office in February 2009.  That year the podcast was named iTunes #1 Podcast of 2009, and it has only grown since then.  The podcast receives more than five million downloads a month and has been featured in Fast Company Magazine, Entrepreneur, The New York Times, and The Los Angeles Times. Adam’s immediate success prompted him to launch an entire online network, ACE Broadcasting in February 2010, which produces many of iTunes' top podcast programming.

Adam became a New York Times best-selling author when his book, In 50 Years We'll All Be Chicks, topped the charts for ten weeks. The audio version went straight to the #1 position on iTunes and remains there today. His new e-book, Rich Man Poor Man, is now available on iTunes.

Before running his online empire, Adam hosted The Adam Carolla Show on CBS radio stations in Los Angeles, Portland and Las Vegas. The four-hour weekday morning program was syndicated in several major markets, including Seattle, Sacramento and Fresno.

Adam has also starred on ABC's hit reality series Dancing with the Stars, hosted Comedy Central's Too Late with Adam Carolla and starred in TLC's The Adam Carolla Project, which chronicled the renovation and subsequent sale of his boyhood home.

Following brief stints as a skilled carpenter and boxing trainer, Adam began his career in radio after answering an ad seeking a boxing instructor to train then radio personality Jimmy Kimmel of KROQ's Kevin and Bean Show in Los Angeles. He eventually joined the show's repertoire as “Mr. Birchum,” a wood shop teacher. Adam’s success on KROQ led to a hosting job on the nationally syndicated radio program Loveline with Dr. Drew Pinsky. MTV developed a television version of the show, which was co-hosted by Adam and Dr. Drew for five seasons (1996-2000). The duo also authored The Dr. Drew and Adam Book: A Survival Guide to Life and Love.

With his partners Daniel Kellison and Jimmy Kimmel, Adam heads Jackhole Industries, and created and starred in two hit Comedy Central shows, The Man Show and Crank Yankers.

A native of Southern California, Adam currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Lynette, and their twins.

Excellent show & great seats- Adam Carolla

    by Bonnie on 6/29/23

I thought the show was very entertaining & the opening acts were great also. I love the seating; there is not a bad seat in the house. We felt the drinks were over priced; 2 drinks cost $40 & one was a beer. Security was good; they quickly escorted a person who was upset & yelling out of the theater without further incident. Adam handled it well stayed on the stage & remained quiet while the person was being removed. We all were happy that he was removed and the show went on. Very professional.

    Disappointed

by Jo on 6/27/23Uptown Theatre Napa - Napa

Seems that his jokes were mostly aimed at the young men in the audience & not very funny :-(

    Didn’t Laugh Much

by Not-a-fan on 6/27/23Uptown Theatre Napa - Napa

The two opening comedians were very funny. Adam on the other hand was not entertaining. Found most of his material to be outdated.

    Love Adam, hated the show

by Kenny on 6/27/23Uptown Theatre Napa - Napa

Adam is a great thinker with an irreverent heart and a decent soul. How podcasts are smart. And Dr Drew is always a great addition. What happened with his comedy routine is another question - rambling, crass bordering on gross, and it was obviously a very low-effort production. 1/3 of the crowd roared, 1/3rd cringed, and 1/3rd spent the entire time exiting and returning from the bar and bathroom. Overall, very disappointing.

Openers great but missed the Kool-aid.

by Nope on 6/27/23Uptown Theatre Napa - Napa

The opening acts where hilarious but I hadn't realized what rabbit hole Adam had gone down. He started okay but soon became a mess of QANON and Trumper style hyperbole. Jokes written to to fan hate, stories that if not totally made up were enhanced by a certain view. I tried to last it out since I had lived him earlier in his career but it soon became apparent he really believes his nonsense. Not worth the money I was paid to be there.

    Hilarious and refreshing

In a world so worries about offending it’s refreshing to hear a comedian throw caution to the wind.

    Great Show!

    by A. L. on 5/30/23Sony Hall - New York

We enjoyed everything about this event. The food at Sony Hall was surprisingly good and the table service was excellent. The show itself moved along at a good pace and was very funny. My only disappointment was that Adam's set was a bit shorter than I would have preferred, but time was short. Maybe one less "friend."

    I hate to say it...

    by B. O. on 5/29/23Sony Hall - New York

First: Venue was good. My seats were excellent. VIP, front row, center. Waitstaff review at the end. The host was hilarious and was the most engaging. She brought everyone to hysterics in between each comedian's set. Besides the headliner, we had no idea who else would be there. After the unknown but excellent, Jaolinn(?), I was super-psyched to see Ryan Long next. He was quickly followed by Dave Smith and then Dan Soder. All good. Then the headliner, Carolla, came on stage and was underwhelming and easily the weakest act. I am a big fan of Carolla's various podcasts but this set was terrible. He seemed annoyed at the audience and how small it was. Maybe it was because it was his birthday and no one came. It was a short set with almost no new material. Most of it had been recycled observations from his podcast from 5-10 years ago. I don't know if he is saving the "good stuff" for his upcoming pay per view special or for the comedy sets that he sometimes puts on his podcast. This may be the way it is done now but I could not help but notice that all the male comedians came on stage with their smartphones, put them on a stool, and kept checking their phone, I guess, for their list of jokes. This seemed amateurish to me especially for someone like Carolla who often complains about smartphones. I would have preferred a discrete index card. Maybe I've seen too many comics on Netflix and I've come to expect people to memorize their lines. Regarding the venue, while my waitress was good, the waiter at the next table was annoying and unprofessional and detracted from the event. The reason was that halfway during Carolla's performance, the waiter crouched on the floor with his glowing tablet to present and collect the tabs for these tables requiring everyone at those tables to pull out their cards and start discussing who had what. Reminder: they were sitting front row, center and the headliner could not help but hear and see what was going on. At this point I could not hear Carolla while 8 people sorted their bills. Maybe that was why, when they were done, Carolla gave an abrupt, "Okay, thanks, everybody" and walked out. It was known it was his birthday so people yelled, "happy birthday" several times but he didn't turn around to acknowledge these even though he was blocked from leaving the stage for several seconds.

by LiveLoveandLaughandLaughandLaugh on 5/29/23Sony Hall - New York

Adam was incredible! Have not laughed that hard in a super long time! His delivery, flow and just natural comedic talent is one of a kind! We loved the show! He and comedian Dave Smith were our favorites! Highly recommend seeing Adam! Thanks for a great night out!

    Carolla was great; hecklers suck

by BrotherBluff on 3/13/22Genesee Theatre - Waukegan

Why do people feel like it is ok to shout out during performances these days? The Genesee is a very nice theater, but the disruptions during the show made the theater less classy. Carolla didn't seem too phased by the outbursts, but man it is still super annoying.

Opener was really rough.... Adam was awesome. I’d heard probably 45% of the jokes... but good show regardless.

    Carolla true to form

by Pam M on 7/31/19The Canyon Montclair - Montclair

Carolla is likeable and entertaining. He has casual command of the stage and the audience of dude bros loved him. If you’re looking for cerebral comedy or well thought out commentary, he’s not your guy. Large chunks of his material are raunchy and gross. Caveat emptor.

Carolla is funny but place was dead

    by K. on 7/30/19The Rose - Pasadena

We showed up at exactly 9, which was the listed time, and as we walked in we thought the show had been cancelled because it was so quiet. Venue is pretty cool (The Rose in Pasadena), but it was way too big for this particular show. We had seats at a table, and it was so empty, the waiter I asked just said we could sit wherever. On certain sites, it says the tables come with minimum spend of $25/person, but I didn't see that enforced. They had a few food items (Probably 8 options total), and we were able to get an order in before the kitchen closed. Show started right at 9. Opener did about 25, and then Adam Carolla came out and did exactly and hour. He hung out after to meet people and sign stuff if you wanted, but the vibe wasn't really for my wife, so we left after the show. I like Adam Carolla and think he's still really funny, but his crowd is definitely aging out based on what I saw in that experience.
