A Flock of Seagulls on Tour
Get ready to ride the wave. A Flock of Seagulls are on tour and bringing their new wave hits to the stage with all the energy their fans and audiences remember. The band's peak success was found in the early 1980s and they are returning on tour to reunite with the generation that made them famous. The 2022 and 2023 tour will span the United States, making 10 stops along the way. Fans of the band will be thrilled to hear hits from their youth such as "I Ran (So Far Away,)" "Space Age Love Song," "Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You" and "The More You Live, the More You Love." The tour promises to deliver nostalgia and new memories to all who attend.
A Flock of Seagulls Live in Concert
A Flock of Seagulls formed in 1979 in Liverpool. Lead vocalist and keyboardist Mike Score is also the founder of the band. Other current members include Kevin Rankin on drums, Gord Deppe on guitar and Pando on bass. The group's debut single "(It's Not Me) Talking," set them on the path to success. The band was signed to major label Jive in 1982 and distributed through CBS records, where they released their second single "Telecommunication." This Grammy-winning synthpop group grew to infamy with their offbeat haircuts and unconventional and eclectic music style, an unforgettable combination that has fans still reeling for more. The band attributes a large amount of their early success with the support and playtime they received from MTV. In 2018, the band's original members released a new album titled Ascension, their first studio recording since 1984. The 12-track album featured the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Following the success of this album, the band released another highly anticipated album -- String Theory, which again featured the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra -- in 2021. The band continues to proudly demonstrate their uniqueness and off-the-cuff style. A Flock of Seagulls is bringing the nostalgia back with their 2022 and 2023 tour across the United States.

The HOB Anaheim is my least favorite venue in Orange County. The show and sound were great, but the venue which caters to people that like 80's and 90's music, doesn't consider their age bracket. The shows are general admission and there are NO places to sit down or relax and take a break. You have to STAND the entire show AND intermission. There are large areas to stand outside of the actual theater/show area. Why not put a chair or two or a couch or two? There are no places to set your drink down except the floor. There is an outdoor patio to get some fresh air, but it is the smoking area. How about a place for the non-smokers to take a break and get some fresh air? These complaints fall on deaf ears.
Great show, sound and lighting was dope. Only complain would be that guest were blocking the stairwell where I was standing and that was so annoying for me and the people trying to get thru Maybe security should monitor that area.
Absolutely phenomenal performance by Strangelove, as always!! Flock of Seagulls sounded great, especially guitarist Christopher Lytle!!!
The venue was vastly overcrowded. I’ve been to many shows at the HoB but never experienced a crowd of this size. It was uncomfortable. Strangelove was fun and got the crowd going, but by the time A Flock of Seagulls came out, they fell flat. It doesn’t help that their set was riddled with sound issues. Mike Score’s microphone didn’t even work for the entire first song! The concert also started late. Don’t get me wrong, I know shows often don’t start at the time they’re supposed to, but we’re talking the opening act came out an hour late. Ended up leaving probably halfway through the FoS set, and we were not the only ones leaving. Disappointing!
Well, I have literally been trying to see A Flock of Seagulls since they hit it big when I was 12 (40 years ago. I was underwhelmed, and I don't believe it was the band's fault. HoB is a fairly small venue, but the volume on the instruments was cranked up to stadium or arena level, while the vocals were muted and sounded like they were coming from a long pipe. Just generally disappointing. By contrast, the sound for the opening act, StrangeLove, was spot on and perfect, and a really great experience.
This was a great show and the best part of an excellent weekend!!! The Strangelove guys played many of the songs that Depeche Mode don't usually play when I've seen them live; all of these songs happen to be my favorites, especially 'Shake the Disease' & the Flock of Seagulls set was absolutely awesome, although I was kinda hoping that they would play "Talking" but that's fine... can't wait for them to come around this way again (Houston TX) in the very near future; thanks guys!!!!
Great sound! Loved the FOS and opening act Strangelove. We had seats in the balcony. The seat itself was broken although my husband’s was fine. You had to take an elevator up and down, the stairs were guarded. Worried a lot about that and what would happen in case of an emergency. The ceiling and painted pipes above were disgusting and very thickly dust covered. For the price of seats up there, I would recommend buying general admission and upgrading to a table on the main floor.
1. It was ya too crowded 2. I was never able to get a drink at the bar. Lines were too long. 3. HOB did not have enough staff 4. It was too hot in the venue Just a terrible experience.
A Flock of Seagulls was a great band back in the early 80's. Their first album is arguably one of the best new wave records of all time. Unfortunately this concert was not a night to remember, it has been 40 years since their peak, they don't sound as a tight band anymore, plus the singer had a pretty rough night. Overall this concert did not lived to the high expectations I had for one of my favorite bands from my youth.
Mike bought the ball but he still sings awesome… Wonderful concert
Good show, opening act was quite good, A Flock of Seagulls was great (was nervous after reading other reviews). If you like to dance, recommend the GA over seating.
Loved the place , Loved the bands , Got a great view, loved that u could stand anywhere and still see everything !!
The music was louder than the microphones used for singing. Opening band had clear voices so it might have been done to hide the Flock of Seagulls voice challenges.
Disappointed. I was gifted tickets for the concert at HofB in Houston. I did no research ahead of times into Strangelove of AFOS. Strangelove was actually the highlight.....sounded great and looked the 80's....rather impressed. I was stoked for AFOS until the lights came on.....what the heck? Mike Score + 3....who are they? No Ali, Fred or Paul....just Mike + 3. Didnt look 80's, didnt feel 80's. Honestly, they should have ben a coverband for A Flock Of Seagulls that was lucky enough to have Mike Score as their singer. Seemed like all 4 were in it for their own, not playing as a band but just playing. I'll listen to their albums and listen for who they were......geez, so looked to see the original lineup, not just 1 Seagull.
The entire night put me on a high! I stayed and danced to every song.
I am sad to say it was rather disappointing. My friend and I were so stoked for the show. Well, to our dismay, we just couldn't deal with the opening act and so she grabbed some food from HOB ..(NEVER EVER NEVER order gumbo there), and then we went back home. So like 3 songs in with Strangelove, (whom we had not ever seen, yet, had heard great reviews....wellll, apparently, we got them on a not so good at night. But, hey, rock on ya know...Glad I got the BOGO special!!!
This was my first concert ever. It was overcrowded people were standing in the walk way presenting a fire hazard escape. I left 10 minutes into the second concert the night I went. Have to say the food was amazing in the restaurant. Our server was not amazing though.
Strangelove should have headlined. FoS did play their hits, but they were just kinda boring on stage. Strangelove saved the night!!
The should install shade tarps and bring in more misters. I was Surprised they didn’t bring misters in for the performers!
