Buffalo Bills Team History

The Buffalo Bills became the seventh team to join the American Football League when Ralph C. Wilson was awarded the franchise in 1959. In 1964 and 1965, the Bills won the AFC Championship, and then-Head Coach Lou Saban was named AFL Coach of the Year for both seasons. After Marv Levy took over as Head Coach in 1986, the Bills won five AFC championships and made four consecutive Super Bowl appearances from 1990–1993. To date, the Bills are the only team to play in four consecutive Super Bowl games.

Since hiring Head Coach Sean McDermott in January 2017, the Bills have made five playoff appearances. In 2022, the Bills made playoff history in a game against the Patriots when they became the first team in the Super Bowl era to score a touchdown on each of its first seven drives of a playoff game.

Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium

Since opening in 1973, Highmark Stadium, located in Orchard Park, New York, has been the home to the Buffalo Bills. The stadium underwent several name changes; known as Ralph Wilson Stadium from 1998 to 2015, it was renamed New Era Field in 2016, then Bills Stadium in 2020. Following a new naming rights deal in 2021, its official name is now Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Stadium.

A visit to Highmark Stadium for a Buffalo Bills game is sure to be a loud and high-energy experience, as the team’s fanbase, the Bills Mafia, is arguably the most loyal in the NFL. The group got its start in November 2010 following the upset from a dropped pass by receiver Stevie Johnson that could have resulted in a game-winning touchdown. The hashtag #BillsMafia caught wind on Twitter, and since then the group has been known for their tailgating antics and game-day attire and energy.

    Updated stadium technology needed!

    by SG on 8/7/23

We arrived 2 hours early and stood in line in the blazing sun desiring front row seat for autograph hopes. The plan seemed perfect, only a few folks ahead of us. Time for entry came and the stadium workers ticket scanner did not work or he could not use it!! Repeatedly did not work! Allowing 100's of people to enter before us! Finally received a scan and of course did not get front row as hoped for. Then we were about 3 rows up and had atleast 20 kids standing in the aisle waiting for autographs blocking the field view and not allowing people in and out for concessions etc. Security chased them away only once and they came back. Otherwise the event was fantastic and fun. My son did get autographs only because a very kind person let him up front with them.

    No seating

    by Vinny on 8/7/23

Tickets were general admission for the bills blue and red practice.. it was a free for all and completely ridiculous. Why wouldn’t you just assign seating in the stadium. My son(7) and me tried so many time to get a seat but people thought it would b fun to stay people r siting in them or they r saving them. Was suppose to b a great experience to bring my son but it turned into a headache. We never got seats and ended up standing in the back of a section. Notes for next time .. ASSIGNED SEATING!!!

    Ranked in our TOP 2

    by DiehardREDHEAD on 8/7/23

Well we(husband)were a little bit concerned regarding parking. I use a wheelchair due to limited mobility. So we drove from Pennsylvania and found that we weren't allowed to park on campus. So off to the Pittsford Mendon school, to get a ride in on a bus. First time I have experienced this and was very pleased. I was taken care of by the driver and parking lot attendants. But wished we knew ahead of time of the ♿️ parking. Once we got into the stadium area, a GREAT SHOUT OUT to the staff who went to check on ADA sitting and escorted us to the ramp area. Very kind and pleasant people who took a little bit of time to help us out.

    Packed and Frustrating

    by ShawnyMomo on 8/7/23

Started with a free shuttle ride to the event. This was nice and smooth with plenty of busses to transport people for $1. They open the Saint John Fisher practices to the public, but aren’t equipped for it. They have more than half of the standing area closed off to reserved VIP guests. This is a joke. You need a closed off VIP area for PRACTICE?? The Bills gave out 4,000 tickets to a venue with stands that can hold hundreds. And if you got a spot in the stands, good luck seeing anything with people standing 5 deep in front. The poor workers were trying to get people to move but no way are 3 or 4 employees going to move 3,000 people standing in the way. This was a nice thought, but why not have practice on the field next to it with actual stands for patrons??

    Refill

    by Blue on 8/7/23

Bathrooms need more tending. Soap and paper towels were gone by half time. This is unusual because toilet paper wasn’t gone also.

Going to Blue and Red having to use a wheelchair because of a knee replacement was by far the best service ever. The security and employees were wonderful. Can’t say enough about them. Thank you Highmark Stadium. Go Bills.

    Training Camp 2023

    by Monica on 8/7/23

I wish the Buffalo Bills Players would have put more effort in signing more autographs and taking pictures with the kids and spectators. They seemed only to focus on the VIP Spectators. Very disappointed !! The players didn’t even come over to the opposite side. That’s the only negative. Everything else they put on was amazing. It was very hard getting tickets for the event. I got two tickets from a Season holder. I can’t believe that was the only way. Hopefully that won’t be like that next year. Thank you for asking me to do the survey. Have a great day.

    Nice experience

    by bflobrian on 8/7/23

Inside the stadium was excellent, had a great time with my adult daughter and her husband. A couple of negatives that has nothing to do with Ticketmaster. Had a minor but alarming confrontation with another vehicle while entering the parking area. Waited an hour outside in our vehicle before allowed to enter parking lot and this person arrived minutes before the lot opened. He got in ahead of us side by side and then tried to force his way ahead of us, which he did and then started screaming at us out of his window with arms flailing away. We knew that we would be parking right next to him so to avoid any further confrontation we asked the lot attendant if we could park elsewhere and we did. That was it with that and enjoyed our tailgating. One other negative, but I already knew this, large cans of beer, $15.50 each, $50 for 3 beers, unbelievable!

    full price concessions

    by al rac on 8/7/23

Went to scrimmage. Free parking a bonus. Alot going on. Big negative was full priced concessions. Really, this is a family oriented event. Did we really have to charge full price for concessions? Don't even get me started on the drinks. It was A scorcher. They could have at least waived the policy of no water bottles. When the temps were in the 90's we couldn't even bring in one water, even after being told we could. All that being said. The bills were great to see. The throwing off of signed footballs were a great bonus.

    Horrible

    by Djd on 8/7/23

First the traffic was out of control again the bills can't handle large crowds, the police directing traffic are way understaffed, inside the stadium the food stands are just horrible the one I went to was out of some food before the practice even started after waiting in line for 25 minutes. Then what I did order was missing food 5 fingers and fries they give you 3.5 fingers and 6 fries for $13.50 and the staff fighting not a good look for the stadium or the organization running the food stand.
