About

Music really does have the power to save, and R&B singer KEM has the story – and the Grammy nominations – to prove it. After a troubled adolescence that included homelessness and addiction, the singer turned his life around through music and an interest in spirituality that has informed his sound and songs ever since. In 2013, KEM released What Christmas Means: Deluxe Edition, an album of spiritual songs featuring R&B legend Patti LaBelle on “Jesus” and Ledisi on “Be Mine For Christmas.” Previously, KEM released 3 gold-certified albums in the 2000s through Motown Records, a label that perfectly suits the classic, throwback sound found on successful singles like “Love Calls” and “I Can’t Stop Loving You.” His 2010 album Intimacy: Album III peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, earning him 2 Grammy nominations, including Best R&B Song for “Why Would You Stay.” On the road in 2013 with his What Christmas Means Tour, KEM has been treating ticket buyers to his classy take on holiday spirituality, earning rave reviews for his intimate, inspiring live concerts.

    AMAZING!!!!!

    by Natia on 5/2/24

Kem, Anita Baker, and Joe are my overall top favorites R&B artist I've always wanted to see. I finally was able to see Anita Baker and now Kem. This was my first Kem concert and will NOT be my last. I loved the atmosphere and his voice, sound just like him, nothing added just raw talent. You can tell it was a great concert when the ushers are in the crowd dancing and singing too. It was AMAZING!!! To be honest i probably was the youngest person in my 20’s who was in there. I know next time I’m getting closer seats, even though I was in a good section i need to be closer next time. I just love me some Kem his music is soooooo relaxing to me. I’m ready for the next show!

    Awful sound system

by Disappointed on 5/2/24The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - Memphis

The sound (music) was toooo loud. The sound system at the orpheum was horrible as always. I could barely hear the words to the songs the artists were singing. The concert was short for the amount of money spent for the tickets.

    Chill

by MusicLvr on 5/1/24The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - Memphis

KEM was amazing as always but he didn’t sing a couple of really popular sings I would have loved to hear and I really would have liked a longer set from him. The 8pm start time was kind of late. I honestly thought it started at 7pm. I would have loved some nice R&B playing before the show and even during the 2 performers. Something to set the mood for his music.

    Great Show!

by Lala on 4/30/24The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - Memphis

This was my first Kem concert and it did not disappoint. It started in a timely fashion, lasted an amount of time that was ample for the 50+ age group, and had a good mix of mellow and upbeat tunes. I would definitely attend again.

    SHOW was AWESOME!

by JO on 4/30/24The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - Memphis

Kem was awesome! If I had a complaint it would be that he didn’t perform long enough! The show started 10 minutes late which wasn’t too bad. However, the music was way too loud when Lavelle was performing—it drowned him out. Overall, I enjoyed the show immensely.

    The KEM Experience...

by JazzMeister on 4/30/24The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - Memphis

This was my 1st time seeing Kem, and was NOT disappointed in any way. He was very respectful of himself, his wife/marriage, and his family. Very tasteful gentleman. Super smooth brotha. Would certainly recommend others to go see him, and definitely plan to see him again, as soon as possible.
