Capital Jazz is an Event to Kick Start the Summer.

    by Maxie on 3/18/24

Seventeen (17 yrs) & counting. Probably be there again this year. The artists are always great and entertaining. Hard to say no. But will suggest more low sodium/ vegan options.

    Big Screens

by BlackBeautie on 11/24/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

I did not like the different performers on different screens simultaneously. I was looking at one screen and had to move to another screen to see the other performer. Other than that I have NO issues.

    Always Wonderful

    by Vee on 7/11/23

The Capital Jazz Fest is always a good time! This year was my first time back since the pandemic and it did not disappoint. Merriweather is the perfect venue for the Capital Jazz Fest, especially since the renovations. My only request is to please bring back the souvenir book/program.

    Awesome time

    by Adrienne on 7/8/23

I attended all three days. The venue was clean and well organized. All of the musicians were outstanding. I especially appreciated being able to see the other artist that were playing on the other stage while waiting for the artist I was planning to see set up. food was great. Vendors were abundant and all were professional. My friends and I are planning to attend again next year.

    10 years and counting

    by JackC on 6/30/23

This was my 11th year attending. Concerts goes on without a hitch. The best seats are the pavilion seating. It’s worth the price. The shows go on rain or shine so get Pavillion because you’re covered but best to be a Jazz enthusiast because that’s where the Jazz acts perform. R& B seating and shows are on other side of park. A little disappointed with this being year 30 they would have put on a grander weekend and acts. I hope next year they are able to have stronger acts as in the past.

    Not enough Jazz Artist

by Jazzyg on 6/27/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

There were more R&B artists at the jazz festival than there were jazz artists.

    I enjoyed it

by Delo on 6/19/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

They had a great line up of entertainers. I was disappointed that they had a limited number of food vendors there. Other than that it was all good. Really enjoyed myself.

    Jazzy

by Madam Prez on 6/19/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

Wonderful, stress, and hassle-free! On the day of our event for the Capital Jazz Festival, things operated smoothly at the security entry point. The short lines moved quickly for those who had virtual tickets on their cell phone devices. My husband and I uploaded our tickets as instructed and were very pleased with the results of doing just that. Great show, the seats were easily located and had a great experience!

    Capital Jazz Festival

by Road Runner on 6/18/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

Truly enjoyed the entertainers on both stages all 3 days!!!! Would have like to have more food vendors to reduce the long lines. Disappointed with the cleanliness of the ladies restrooms.....extremely sickening. Improvements could be hiring appropriate staff to clean & man the restrooms for the amount of people using same.

    Disappointing Experience

by SW on 6/14/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

Jazzfest 2023 was a little disappointing. This is our first year back to the the Jazzfest since the Pandemic and I'm glad to see that they took steps to rectify the mudpits by adding mulch and asphalt; however, it was disappointing how the talent lineup was set up. Theneed to schedule the performances to where one artist finshes on one stage before the next artist begins on the next stage, so Jazzfest goers can experience the full performances of all artists. The place is usually full of concert goers so it's not easy to move from one location to the other to see all performances. They would cut from the Symphony Woods stage to the Main Pavilion stage while the performance on the Symphony Woods stage was still going on. It was also somewhat disrespectful to The Isley Brothers to have them performing on the Symphony Woods stage and then in the middle of their performance, cut the sound and video to the Pavilion stage where Incognito was performing. Same goes for George Benson, someone of his years of musical talent should not have been cut over in the middle of his performance. There were so many people who tried to pack in at the Symphony Woods stage just to hear/see The Isley Brothers, because the video and sound cut to the Main Stage that it was impossible to enjoy, AND the sound from the Main stage made it impossible to hear The Isley Brothers. This year's Jazzfest only had a handful of great performers, where in previous years the lineup was much better. On a positive note, the event staff were some of the most friendly, helpful and accommodating people we've experienced.
