ZZ Top Concert Schedule

ZZ Top is a legendary American rock band known for their blues-infused rock music, bawdy lyrics and long, red beards. ZZ Top tours include the 2017 Tonnage Tour, 2016 Hell Raisers Tour, and the 2013 La Futura Tour. ZZ Top live shows leave the audience laughing dancing and feeling like they are at a jam session with close friends, instead of a concert headlined by rock and roll legends. Their massive success has allowed all of their albums to reach gold or platinum status. The band's best selling album is 1983's Eliminator, which spawned the hit singles "Legs" and "Sharped Dress Man." The album went on to sell 10 million units, reaching diamond status and the 25 million records they've sold in the U.S. makes them one of the top 100 selling artists in the country. ZZ Top has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2004.

ZZ Top Background

ZZ Top formed in 1969 in Houston Texas with guitarist and lead vocalist Billy Gibbon, organist Lanier Greig and drummer Dan Mitchell. The name of the band came from Gibbons combining the names of B.B. King and Z.Z. Hill, when he noticed that many artists used their initials as their band's name. When ZZ King seemed too close to the originals he changed it to ZZ Top. The current lineup of the band consists of bassist and lead vocalist Dusty Hill, Billy Gibbon and drummer Frank Beard. ZZ Top's signature sound can best be described as blues-infused rock with elements of punk rock and new wave added through their use synthesizers. While Eliminator was the band's most successful album with 10 million albums sold, 1985's Afterburner was their highest charting album. All the singles from Afterburner were Top 40 hits and the album itself went on to sell five million copies. Other Top 40 singles include 1975's "Tush," 1977's "I Thank You," and 1981's "Gimme All Your Lovin'"Follow ZZ Top on social media: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook.

  • ZZ Top keeps getting better!!!!

by Carpboy on 8/6/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 4 out of 5

ZZ Top put on a fantstic show. Everyone on the floor stood for the entire show and danced up a storm. I saw ZZ Top in the 90s and they just keep on going and playing great rock and blues. Only 1 complaint, it was way to short of a show. I wish they would have played 3 or 4 more songs,a little under a hour and a half just wasnt enough of the little ole band from texas. All and all it was a kickbutt take no prisoners show.

  • awesome music

Legs was awesome, videos were great, just alot of energy..and the fuzzy guitars were cool

  • Best little old band anywhere!

by ezrydr on 8/6/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 5 out of 5

I was surprised the event was not sold out but that was not a bad thing for the audience and allowed me to get some great pictures of the band. The Sioux City perfromance was not listed on the tour page of ZZtop.com so I assume it was a stopover gig while their touring partners Aerosmith performed at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The band played a selection of their hits and really seemed to enjoy the small venue and interacted with the crowd a lot. They had a minimal stage set up at this concert but these guys could have played without any lights/effects and it still would have been great. ZZ Top's music is just so solid that they dont even need a stage!! At 60 years old+ these guys are at the top of their game! Billy's guitar playing is amazing and the personna of ZZ Top is still the smooth bluesy hard driving rock that has made them famous for almost 40 years!! The only complaint I have is that show was only 1 1/2 hours long. For the money I think ZZ could have given us another 1/2 hour at least. But hey, they're old and probably needed to get to bed. At any rate - ZZ Top is a good as ever and if you get the chance - go see em!

  • They can rock the crowd

by spray on 8/6/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 4 out of 5

My husband talked me into this concert, and glad we went. These guys are so down to earth. They played for an hour and a half...they were awesome. They played all of their hit songs , got the crowd going.... and can they play the guitars. I would go see them again. I really liked the background pictures they showed during their performance.

  • shortchanged

    by dissatisfied2 on 8/6/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 1 out of 5

we were very disappointed in the concert, it started at 815 and over at 930, alcohol was stopped being served at 9. A big waste of money thats for sure, especially since there was no opening act.

  • zz top not long enough

by gigigranny on 8/4/09Coushatta Casino Resort - KinderRating: 4 out of 5

we live near houston and could have gone to see zz top open for aerosmith but felt like zz top would not play as long. so we opted to go to coushatta in kinder, la.....what a dissappointment in the time they played. they only played for 1 hr and 15 minutes. it costs us more to go to coushatta, plus the hotel. don't get me wrong, they jammed and we did enjoy what they did play, but were greatly dissappointed in the little time they did play....we could stay home and see a 2 hr event on vh1.

  • Still Fantastic

by lscorbin on 7/30/09Desert Diamond Casino - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

It still amazes me how great these guys are. So much awsome sound from 3 people! This was my third trip to ZZ Top. They sound as good as the first time I saw them 30 years ago!

  • ROCKED...but could have been longer :(

    by 18GOBLUE17 on 7/29/09Desert Diamond Casino - TucsonRating: 4 out of 5

This was my first time to see ZZ Top and my first time to see a concert at the Desert Diamond Events Center. I couldn't believe how close I was to the stage only paying for general admission and how personal the whole experience was!! The whole thing was absolutely awesome, but I really wish the concert would have lasted longer than and hour and a half...I've always heard that they usually put on a kickass 2 to 3 hour show.

  • ZZ Top was great.

by crobar on 7/29/09Desert Diamond Casino - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

Enjoyed the concert. ZZ Top can still put on a concert. Will go again the next time they visit Tucson.

  • ZZ Top....Nationwide!

by Robespierre on 7/28/09Desert Diamond Casino - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

Great show in a small venue, not a bad seat in the house. That lil ol band from Texas was as good as ever.....rocked Tucson inside out. Took my wife to her first ZZ Top show ever and being a Texas Gal she loved it!

  • ZZ top-great show

by TucsonJoe on 7/28/09Desert Diamond Casino - TucsonRating: 4 out of 5

Great show in a small venue = good time. I'd see these guys again in concert.

  • Truly one of the greatest groups of all time!!!

by gibbons on 7/28/09Desert Diamond Casino - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

Played many of their hits but left out many fan favorites in favor of returning to the past: blues!

  • Great show

by Msdenny on 7/27/09Desert Diamond Casino - TucsonRating: 4 out of 5

This is my third ZZ Top concert and first at Desert Diamond. This is a much preferable arena for this group and the show rocked. Their energy was terrific and the conert goers rocked with the music whether the music was for hot cars or hot women. They sang their favorites and the audience sang with them. Two minor complaints: The sound people need a little work--it was very difficult to make at the words. It was worse at the beginning but the sound needed more work to understand any words. The group stated they 'loved the audience and woud play all night' and they walked out after one encore and a total of one hour and twenty-five minutes. This is a set time at Desert Diamond--and it is disappointing to expect a little longer show. Why bother to say it when you know when you are leaving at the time you start?

  • ZZ Top seemed flat and uninspired!!

by FcoAbu on 7/27/09Desert Diamond Casino - TucsonRating: 2 out of 5

ZZ Top is ZZ Top!!! They're music icons and no one can take that away from them. The show in my opinion seemed flat. Dusty and Billy seemed to be going through the motions with a few audience interactions. Frank seemed totally bored and couldn't seem to crack a smile all night long. There wasn't even a goodnight or thank you after the encore as they quickly and abruptly left the stage for the evening. I really expected more!!!

  • ZZ Top Rocked the house!!

by AZHeather on 7/27/09Desert Diamond Casino - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

This was the best concert I have ever gone to. The concert was entertaining, fun, and everything expected from ZZ Top. The guys played a great mix of blues, rock, and their 80s hits and the audience was captivated. I would go see them again any day!

  • zz top rocked

  • ZZ TOP has still got "it"

    by tomcat56 on 7/27/09Desert Diamond Casino - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

I've enjoyed ZZ Top for over 35 years but never had the chance to see them live until Sunday night. I was awed by their performance. It was an unforgettable experience that brought back many memories of happier times and filled me once again with the enthusiasm of youth. I'd like to thank those three gentlemen for bringing that all back for me. I was entertained to the max.

  • AA Bottom

by Wingdongdaver on 7/27/09Desert Diamond Casino - TucsonRating: 2 out of 5

55 dollars and some change. No opening act. I thought I was in for a whole bunch of ZZ. What I got was and hour and 15 minutes. I've never seen a bigger money grab in my life. It was almost like the band and the casino were on a mini crime spree.

  • ZZ TOP Concert July 26, 2009

by Maheeta on 7/27/09Desert Diamond Casino - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

July 26, 2009 was mine and my husband's 35th wedding anniversary. What a way to celebrate it!!! This was the best concert I have ever been too!!! Why did I wait so long to see them???

  • Outstanding event

by Wendyinaz on 7/27/09Desert Diamond Casino - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

Desert Diamond knows how to put on a show. The whole event went very smoth. The crowd was well behaved and there was plenty of security in the event things got out of hand., Of course ZZ top was great as usual, does not matter how many times your may have seen them they are always great. Just hope they come back again soon.
