ZZ Top Concert Schedule

ZZ Top is a legendary American rock band known for their blues-infused rock music, bawdy lyrics and long, red beards. ZZ Top tours include the 2017 Tonnage Tour, 2016 Hell Raisers Tour, and the 2013 La Futura Tour. ZZ Top live shows leave the audience laughing dancing and feeling like they are at a jam session with close friends, instead of a concert headlined by rock and roll legends. Their massive success has allowed all of their albums to reach gold or platinum status. The band's best selling album is 1983's Eliminator, which spawned the hit singles "Legs" and "Sharped Dress Man." The album went on to sell 10 million units, reaching diamond status and the 25 million records they've sold in the U.S. makes them one of the top 100 selling artists in the country. ZZ Top has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2004.

ZZ Top Background

ZZ Top formed in 1969 in Houston Texas with guitarist and lead vocalist Billy Gibbon, organist Lanier Greig and drummer Dan Mitchell. The name of the band came from Gibbons combining the names of B.B. King and Z.Z. Hill, when he noticed that many artists used their initials as their band's name. When ZZ King seemed too close to the originals he changed it to ZZ Top. The current lineup of the band consists of bassist and lead vocalist Dusty Hill, Billy Gibbon and drummer Frank Beard. ZZ Top's signature sound can best be described as blues-infused rock with elements of punk rock and new wave added through their use synthesizers. While Eliminator was the band's most successful album with 10 million albums sold, 1985's Afterburner was their highest charting album. All the singles from Afterburner were Top 40 hits and the album itself went on to sell five million copies. Other Top 40 singles include 1975's "Tush," 1977's "I Thank You," and 1981's "Gimme All Your Lovin'"Follow ZZ Top on social media: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook.

This concert was awesome, these guys know what they are doing and they really know how to entertain their audience. One of the best bands still around that play awesome rock and blues.

I loved every minute of the performance and it seemed that the people around me loved it too. The nonstop music was jamm packed with hit after hit!! This was my second time that I've seen them in concert--I loved this one better. I would defintely go see them again.

  • zz top very good show

by jppk on 8/7/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 4 out of 5

as always zz top puts on a very good show even though it was only an hour and 15 min. it could have been longer but for $50.00 a ticket i guess you get one good hour of fun& music. as far as the tyson center went i would think when you pay to see a show they wouldn't have to charge you $5.00 for parking i thought that was a little cheep of them.

  • zz top was very cool

by gair on 8/7/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 4 out of 5

really good show .good light show. the thing that will make me not go again is that they only played for 1 hour and 25 min. this was a rip off. you can pay alot less per min. to see superstars not just zz top. should have been 2 bands for the money. RIP OFF!

  • ZZ Top-Still Got It!

by JustGotPaid on 8/7/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 5 out of 5

10+ years since I last saw them. If anything, they are better than before. Like a fine whiskey, they've gotten better with age! Dusty and Billy still got their chops, and Frank drums with the intensity of a man half his age! I drove 3 hours to see this show and paid for 7th-row seats...It was worth every penny! There is just no substitute for ZZ Top Live!

  • Get your Z's or you'll be sorry

by Poodlebiter on 8/7/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 5 out of 5

Surprisingly good-sized crowd with barely 25 days notice for a Wednesday show here in farm country. Expected a 'special ' no-frills show, but it was full-boat. Great video. They did the hits I wanted to hear, including from Tres Hombres. The Gibson was unexpected. My top guitar honors now moves from L. West to Master Gibbons. We bow and say thank you. These guys ARE the best power team in Rock. Their material 'live' is tops.

  • BACK STAGE PASSES WOULD HAVE BEEN FROSTING ON THE

by weebs on 8/6/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 5 out of 5

I HADN'T HEARD ZZ TOP SINCE ABOUT 25 YEARS AGO, BUT THEY TOOK ME STRAIGHT BACK TO THAT TIME ZONE. THE LAST FIVE SONGS SENT ME SOARING OUT OF MY SEAT! WE HAD AN AWESOME TIME. WE WERE SHOCKED THAT THE PLACE WASN'T SOLD OUT. THEY SOUNDED AS GOOD AS THEY DID WHEN THOSE SONGS FIRST CAME OUT! I AM STILL SMILING AND COULDN'T HELP BUT BRAG TO MY COWORKERS THE NEXT DAY! WE WERE A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED THAT WE COULDN'T GO BACK STAGE AND GET OUR PICTURES TAKEN WITH THE BAND. WHO GETS THOSE PASSES ANY WAY?

  • ZZ-TOP a piece of American Rock history

by Culvers on 8/6/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 3 out of 5

The concert was good. A little short, hour and 20 min. Was hoping for 2 hours or so. Maybe it could have had an opening act. After all they are senior citizens. What I didn't like was the $5.00 for event parking fee. Rip Off!! Tickets should cover this. Their expensive enough! It's not like Sioux City is known for their parking.

  • ZZ Top concert

    by guitarman2 on 8/6/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was very good. Played lots of Blues old and new. I seemed a little short, about an hour plus encore. It was a small venue, so that is probably what you expect. They can make music.

  • ZZ Top excellent sound - short program

by Schmidr on 8/6/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 3 out of 5

The boys from Texas did an excellent job when playing. They are great in a live venue. The show started a few minutes late, and ended in less than 90 minutes incuding a few minute break prior to the first and only encore. The place came alive during the encore and should have produced a second. I guess when you play in a small arena that doesn't sell out, you don't get the full service. The sound was great, and the showmanship was awesome,. this is "classic" ZZ Top. Billy and Dusty know how to rock out. I just wish they had a little more stamina..

  • Oh my, Never again.

by juliasdaughter on 8/6/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 1 out of 5

This did not compare at all! My husband and I saw a ZZ Top concert in Sioux Falls in 1991. It had alot of special effects, a machine eating a car, choreographed dancers, fire balls and more extras. It was really a concert. As a suprise for my husband who has pancreatic cancer, I got tickets. I was so excited when they emailed to say ZZ Top tickets were available and I could get seats before the public one day early. That was it for the excitement. First of all we received a phone call that the stage had moved so we needed to exchange our tickets and that we had been upgraded. Upgrade no, unless you like sitting in the furthest seating away from the stage and turning your neck to the right to see the stage. No opening band? The first time they left the stage people were wondering what was happening because in the intro they said they were going to be there along time. I think ZZ was waiting for an demand encore but didn't get it, so just came back up on the stage anyway to finish the show and after an hour and a half they left, no goodbye, no thank you for coming, zip zilch, nada nothing. People were wondering what next and there was nothing, they packed it in. The cost of the tickets, the parking fee, the overpriced beer and t shirts were enough to make you spit.

  • ZZ Top was great!

    by cjp2 on 8/6/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 4 out of 5

I saw ZZ Top last night at the Tyson Event Center in Sioux City, Iowa. They were great! They played "old stuff, new stuff, and everything inbetween" to quote Billy, and did a really good job of entertaining the crowd.

  • TO Short

They could of played a little more a least gave us two hours

  • ZZ TOP WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTING

by RIVERSIDEGONZO on 8/6/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 2 out of 5

AFTER SPENDING $172.00 FOR THREE SEATS, I EXPECTED A CONCERT FULL OF FUN AND EXCITEMENT...INSTEAD THIS WAS THE ONLY CONCERT THAT EVERY ONE WAS STILL SEATING DOWN TIL THE END ... ZZ TOP HAD NO ENERGY LEVEL AT ALL...AT TIMES IT LOOKED LIKE THEY COULD TOPPLE OVER. THE MUSIC SELECTION WAS GOOD AT TIMES BUT REALLY SHORT ON STAGE PRESENCE. IT WAS IRONIC THEY OPENED FOR AREOSMITH ON THIS TOUR BECAUSE STURGIS HAD HIGH ENERGY CONCERT TO THE POINT THAT STEVEN TYLER FELL OFF THE STAGE AND ZZ TOP BARELY MOVED THROUGH OUR CONCERT. I LOVE ALL ZZ TOPS SONGS BUT I COULD HAVE LISTEN TO THE RADIO AND GOTTEN BETTER ENERGY THAN WHAT THEY OFFERED FOR $172.00 FOR ABOUT 1 AND FIFTEEN MINUTES. I SWEAR ALL THE SONGS WERE SHORT SHORT VERSIONS. TOO BAD

  • Great music, just too short

by zzoomm on 8/6/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 2 out of 5

The sound was wonderful. Great to hear the old tunes. Just wish I could have heard more of them.

  • Play the Songs that Sold the Tickets

by beccayinn on 8/6/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 1 out of 5

Probably should start off by saying that I am not a big ZZtop fan. My husband really likes them, so I got tickets for him for as a present and I went with him. Though, I think he was more disappointed than I was. Can you really have a ZZtop concert without playing Velcro Fly? Really? How about Woke up with Wood? or the only one I really liked, Rough Boy? What they did do was enjoyable. They really did a lot of bluesy stuff, which was fun to sit back and listen to, but nothing more than (other than stellar guitar) I would expect to see in any decent show at any bar. I liked sitting back and enjoying, but it was a far cry from what I had paid $100 for. They yelled that they were just starting up and would be there all night and were done by 9:30 after taking to the 8pm stage late. All in all, we didn't hear about half the songs we wanted, could have heard the ones we did anywhere in the city and saved $100. We would have bought t-shirts to remember the experience and decided we didn't want to. We would have bought a CD of their new stuff as it was interesting. But, the whole experience left such a bad taste in my mouth, we took off right afterward, had time to take in a bad movie and STILL had more fun there than at the concert. If your dream since teendom is to see ZZtop preform live all the songs of your youth?Sorry, apparently the dream is dead.

  • ZZ TOP was as Great as ever!!!

by Attaboydave on 8/6/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 5 out of 5

ZZ Top was just as great today as they were when I first went to see them in thier "Afterburner Tour" in Dallas, Texas!!!! Thier sound system is perfect to allow every cord that Billy & Dusty were playing, besides the ability to actually hear them sing!! Franks drums sounded perfect & he was amazing at his stamina to keep the beat at a constant pace!! With the seats that I had, it was just about the best concert that I have been to in a long time!!

  • zz top, too short

by stdekk on 8/6/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 3 out of 5

The boys from Texas still have it! BUT......I paid 70+ for main floor center seats and the concert was only an hour and 20 minutes??? Too much $$ for too little ZZ
