ZZ Top Concert Schedule

ZZ Top is a legendary American rock band known for their blues-infused rock music, bawdy lyrics and long, red beards. ZZ Top tours include the 2017 Tonnage Tour, 2016 Hell Raisers Tour, and the 2013 La Futura Tour. ZZ Top live shows leave the audience laughing dancing and feeling like they are at a jam session with close friends, instead of a concert headlined by rock and roll legends. Their massive success has allowed all of their albums to reach gold or platinum status. The band's best selling album is 1983's Eliminator, which spawned the hit singles "Legs" and "Sharped Dress Man." The album went on to sell 10 million units, reaching diamond status and the 25 million records they've sold in the U.S. makes them one of the top 100 selling artists in the country. ZZ Top has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2004.

ZZ Top Background

ZZ Top formed in 1969 in Houston Texas with guitarist and lead vocalist Billy Gibbon, organist Lanier Greig and drummer Dan Mitchell. The name of the band came from Gibbons combining the names of B.B. King and Z.Z. Hill, when he noticed that many artists used their initials as their band's name. When ZZ King seemed too close to the originals he changed it to ZZ Top. The current lineup of the band consists of bassist and lead vocalist Dusty Hill, Billy Gibbon and drummer Frank Beard. ZZ Top's signature sound can best be described as blues-infused rock with elements of punk rock and new wave added through their use synthesizers. While Eliminator was the band's most successful album with 10 million albums sold, 1985's Afterburner was their highest charting album. All the singles from Afterburner were Top 40 hits and the album itself went on to sell five million copies. Other Top 40 singles include 1975's "Tush," 1977's "I Thank You," and 1981's "Gimme All Your Lovin'"Follow ZZ Top on social media: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook.

  • ZZ Top was PHENOMENAL!!!

by PhilMan on 8/22/09House of Blues Sunset Strip - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

The House of Blues Sunset Strip always puts on a great show. Last night was no exception. ZZ Top was phenomenal! Having been a stadium act in the mid 70's, 80's and early 90's, one could say, ZZ Top is old and haven't done anything lately. The latter may be true, but ZZ Top was super-polished. They didn't miss a note. They're a bit older now, but certainly not feeble! They sounded SO GOOD and looked good!!! They've been playing together for 30 years or so, so they've got plenty of practice - and it shows. ZZ Top blew the crowd away by playing hit ,after hit, after hit - for TWO HOURS! As the old cliche goes, "They sounded just like the record", and THEY DID! They even covered Jimi Hendrix's, "Foxey Lady". The HUGE surprise was at the end when they introduced two special guests - John Mayer and Slash!!!! The crowd was absolutely FLOORED!!! Billy Gibbons on guitar soloed, but John Mayer and Slash both took turns doing their solos. We were all packed in there like sardines, but nobody cared! It was so great! The crowd was BLOWN AWAY and there was such a positive feeling after the show was over. I must say, "If you have a chance to see ZZ Top, DO IT!!!" You will not be disappointed! One more thing; the opening act, "Bastard Winos" was great. They played only 45 minutes, but have a sound that no new band today is doing! They're kind of like a barroom blues band. After the show, they were nice enough to talk with people at the event. They were really a bunch of nice, humble guys. Check them out on Youtube. Someday, ZZ Top will pass the torch to this hot new act!

ZZ Top were wonderful & I'm ok with being riveted 4.5 hours to a two foot square mid-floor spot, dead center behind a corpuscularly rotund guy who - all damn night - was taking cell phone shots... everyone was taking cell phone shots... Hell, even I was. Really distracting... I hate myself... No one should be taking them... at least no more than three. It's really obnoxious. We, the faithful, we're planted by 7:30 PM, but warm up band - Boston Winos - did not start until 9 PM. The tkt indicated the show would start at 8 PM??? That's the way HOB works in H'wood. Liquor sales talk, 'ya know. The worst was the 9:30 PM latecomers who elbow in amongst those of us who've stood already for 2.5 hours. The drummer's skull motif... whatever... and the background visuals of flames? I've no idea what that has to do with a little band fm Texas. Maybe it's just me... but I felt a couple of tunes were too slow & Gibbons' vintage Gibson's sounded smoother and warmer than his faux Gretsch guitars which may have been Bolin's & they're still great guitars.

  • ZZ is still on Top

by Philatto on 8/22/09House of Blues Sunset Strip - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Four decades of House wrecking Texas Boogie and Blues hasen't hurt ZZ Top one bit. A concert so alive with showmanship and good music, made me proud to say I had been there and loved every minute now and then.

  • A must see

by bradstar1 on 8/22/09House of Blues Sunset Strip - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Exciting concert. Billy, Dusty and Frank have impeccable timing and confidence.

  • Incredible

by LordGodKingBufu on 8/22/09House of Blues Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

They haven't lost a beat. Incredible show, small venue. ZZ was smokin. Bastard Winos weren't bad, either. Oddly enough, they were at their best without their lead singer and when they played the blues.

  • ZZ Top was good as ever.

by Masi1 on 8/21/09House of Blues Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Both ZZ Top and the Bastard Winos gave great performances. I've seen ZZ many times before and it was great to see them up close at the HOB. They are all great musicians and gave 100%.

ZZ Top at the house Blues is certainly the venue to see them! Up close and personal, you can enjoy the settle interaction while listening to their superb sound! They are musically and personally tight, their interaction with each other and their timing are as close to perfect as you can get! Needless to say this is a show not to be missed!

  • ZZ Top at House of Blues

by karmalife on 8/21/09House of Blues Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Phenomenal show. ZZ Top is one of the greatest bands ever to grace a stage, and they once again proved that last night. Great setlist and just the best down and dirty rock show you'll ever see.

  • Great band-Dull crowd

by RockAnaheim on 8/21/09House of Blues Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 3 out of 5

The show was amazing!!! The band still has all there chops and energy, the crowd on the overhand was very sedated and although everyone said the show was sold out there was plenty of room. I wish they had turned up the music more. If you get a chance to see a hall of fame group go

  • ZZ Top Still Rocks The House

by sickmnd on 8/21/09House of Blues Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

These guys never seem to age because they sounded and acted like they did 20 years ago. I would highly recommend to see them if you can. They did some old blues songs that were incrediable and they know how to get an audience going. Had a great time.

  • unbelievable show

by ragster on 8/21/09House of Blues Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

I was concerned at first on how this band would react and play in a small venue as opposed to the large arenas they have been playing for years but their music transformed beautifully in this setting. It was as if this band transformed back to their roots. Great show, great venue for anyone to get up close and personal.

  • These guys TOTALLY ROCKED!!!!

  • At best it was a medium performance

    by 50471311four on 8/9/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 3 out of 5

I must say I love ZZ Top, this is the third time I have seen them, but I actually was disappointed in their performance. That played alot of mellow songs, never really go t the crowd going. I really missed them playing some of their most popular songs. I am glad I got the chance to see them before, because this will be my last time. Best of luck to them!

  • ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!

by DebMM on 8/8/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 5 out of 5

Hard to believe all that amazing sound can come out of just 3 musicians! Sounded live as good as they are on their recordings. Got to meet Billy at a local restaurant the night before the concert & got his autograph & a picture with him. .... such a soft-spoken, polite gentleman - such a contrast seeing him onstage with all those sounds from "La Grange" coming out of him! :) Music was loud but didn't overpower the vocals (unlike David Cook's concert at the Orpheum a couple of weeks ago, where we could barely hear his singing at all). Loved it, love them, would DEFINITELY go see ZZ Top again if given the chance, and would definitely recommend the show. Also great that they had the Eliminator out front. The only complaint I have is that I only saw only one T-shirt booth after the concert & people were squished at least 6 deep around it in the small space right near the main exit with the crowd leaving.....was just too hot waiting for what looked like just one guy taking care of all those people. After waiting about 10 minutes & not getting any closer to being served, I turned claustrophobic & decided I did not need to go through such misery to try & spend my money & gave up. Since the Tyson Center was not sold out, there was PLENTY of room for another stand. On the plus side of the concert not being sold out, I was able to get the BEST concert seats I've EVER had - front & center, main floor, within the first 10 rows - wish I could do that well for all of them.

  • ZZ Top - 30 years of Great Rock!

    by wait4train on 8/7/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 4 out of 5

Everyone in our group thought the night was fun and entertaining. We especially enjoyed when they played their older hit songs. That really got the house rockin' and rollin' - We enjoyed seeing their "old video's" when they played their older music - like "She's got legs".

  • ZZ Top was great!

    by ZZTopFan1985 on 8/7/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux CityRating: 5 out of 5

ZZ Top rocked it like a hurricane! I was hoping for an opening band, but there was none. But ZZ Top was great!

  • ZZ Top still has it!

The show was very entertaining. It's hard to believe they can still get down & rock!!
