ZZ Top Concert Schedule

ZZ Top is a legendary American rock band known for their blues-infused rock music, bawdy lyrics and long, red beards. ZZ Top tours include the 2017 Tonnage Tour, 2016 Hell Raisers Tour, and the 2013 La Futura Tour. ZZ Top live shows leave the audience laughing dancing and feeling like they are at a jam session with close friends, instead of a concert headlined by rock and roll legends. Their massive success has allowed all of their albums to reach gold or platinum status. The band's best selling album is 1983's Eliminator, which spawned the hit singles "Legs" and "Sharped Dress Man." The album went on to sell 10 million units, reaching diamond status and the 25 million records they've sold in the U.S. makes them one of the top 100 selling artists in the country. ZZ Top has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2004.

ZZ Top Background

ZZ Top formed in 1969 in Houston Texas with guitarist and lead vocalist Billy Gibbon, organist Lanier Greig and drummer Dan Mitchell. The name of the band came from Gibbons combining the names of B.B. King and Z.Z. Hill, when he noticed that many artists used their initials as their band's name. When ZZ King seemed too close to the originals he changed it to ZZ Top. The current lineup of the band consists of bassist and lead vocalist Dusty Hill, Billy Gibbon and drummer Frank Beard. ZZ Top's signature sound can best be described as blues-infused rock with elements of punk rock and new wave added through their use synthesizers. While Eliminator was the band's most successful album with 10 million albums sold, 1985's Afterburner was their highest charting album. All the singles from Afterburner were Top 40 hits and the album itself went on to sell five million copies. Other Top 40 singles include 1975's "Tush," 1977's "I Thank You," and 1981's "Gimme All Your Lovin'"Follow ZZ Top on social media: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook.

  • ZZ Top Rocks!

by Smol on 9/5/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I am still baffled as to why this group opted for such a small venue and only played one night! They were phenomenal and played all of their big hits. The performance was non-stop energy and the crowd was thrilled! They came out with their signature long, white beards and played for about 90 minutes to an enthusiastic crowd who was thrilled to sing along to their old ZZ favorites.

  • ZZ Top rocked the HOB

by robinrose on 9/5/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Show was wonderful. The HOB Chicago staff could have been a little more customer friendly but I would recommend to show to anyone.

  • ZZ Just Left Chicago

by stravis on 9/5/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

No matter what, no matter when, no matter where, you just can't beat a ZZ Top show!! Billy, Dusty and Frank played what the sardine-packed crowd at HOB wanted to hear! While it would have been fun to see them on the Aerosmith run, and it's a shame about Steven Tyler's accident, NOTHING beats ZZ up close and personal like they were last night in Chicago. A massive crowd of 20-somethings on up to 60-somethings all lovin' the time. A night to remember!

  • ZZ-Top Rocks !!!!

by Waycool66 on 9/5/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely one of the best shows I have ever seen !! I have seen Billy, Dusty and Frank over 10 times on their previous tours and they still sound as great as they did when I first saw them 25 years ago. The show at House of Blues was awesome and because of the smaller venue (approx 1300 people) we were able to get within 10 feet of them on stage and they sounded awesome !!! It's a whole different experience when Billy "the rev" looks right down at you and ripps off those incredible chords like nobody else can. I can't wait and hope they plan on coming back to the H.O.B. again soon.

  • Too small for ZZ Top

by oejwoei on 9/5/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

Overall, it was a good show, but there was too many people there. The thought of seeing a big name act up close and personal in a venue like HOB was mind-blowing. Knowing ZZ scaled down from the Charter One Pavillion as a result from the Aerosmith debacle, I figured it would be packed. For me, I've seen them and was hoping for an equally intimate setlist, with a few obvious hits for good measure. Basically, it was the DVD show. Nothing wrong with that if you've never seen them; they are still the consumate coolest act on the planet. Except for a surprising "Mexican Blackbird", it was a predictable round of songs. Such is the reality of bands with longetivity on tour.

  • ZZ Top: Kings of Cool...

by kidc on 9/5/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Had the privilige to see ZZ Top at the HOB-Chicago last night. What a rare treat it was to see them in such a small venue. The rocked hard, loud, but totally smooth and flawless. Played all their hits, one after another. Frank Beard's new kit is amazing. You'll just have to see them to find out. They brought all their props from what was supposed to be a stadium tour with Aerosmith, and made them work like a charm for the much smaller HOB. The crowd was great and the Top fed off of them. No gimicks, no BS, just straight-ahead blues-rock at its finest by los Tres Hombres de Tejas... Rock on!

  • ZZ Top Rocked the House!

by Gigigirl on 8/26/09House of Blues Sunset Strip - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

The show was great! I'll probably never get the chance to be so close to the band again. The special guests during the encore were an unexpected treat and made the show even more exciting. I had ZZ Top and Aerosmith tickets for that night and we were so disappointed that the show wan cancelled. When I heard of this show I jumped at the chance and it really replaced our disappointment with excitement. So glad we got the opportunity to see this show! The band looked like they were having as much fun as the audience and they played all the songe people loved. Everyone was singing along and it was genuinely fun.

  • ZZ Top concert, HOB West Hollywood

by jazer74 on 8/25/09House of Blues Sunset Strip - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

The band ZZ Top is absolutely amazing! I cannot believe how great these guys sound after forty years together. PLEASE, if you have not seen this band before and are curious about them, go see them because you will not regret it at all. For just a three piece band, wow, I really cannot decribe in words how impressed I was with thier playing and the overall sound of the band...especially the bass player. The bass player really can keep the foundation very well. The guitars/vocals sounded just right(Billy is a great guitar player and vocalist) and the drums (well rounded drummer) came through crystal clear. In all...I give ZZ Top a grade of A+ for this concert....the band was motivated, well rehearsed, happy, rested, and above all, put thier love for the music into each song. Slash and John Mayer came out at the end to play along with the band on La Grange and Tush...a nice treat for everyone. I would love to see ZZ TOP again.

by vivpio on 8/24/09House of Blues Sunset Strip - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

ZZ Top showed why the have been together for 4 decades. They genuinely seemed to enjoy performing and responded to the audience. The video LED backdrop gave some good images for the music. The sound was tight and well balanced.

  • ZZ TOP ROCKED!!!!!

by mikairb on 8/24/09House of Blues Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

ZZ Top was everything I expected and more! It totally made me forget the smell of alcohol, tobacco, and "greener chemicals," and I completely forgot about how much the opening band disappointed the crowd. My voice was gone by the end from all the cheering. ZZ Top rocks. Period.

  • ZZ Top + House of Blues = Perfection!

by gwjones00 on 8/24/09House of Blues Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

I have been around longer than ZZ Top (I was in college when I first heard Tres Hombres). I had heard that they were good live. Let me tell you - in the HOB environment they were *outstanding*! The best performance I've ever seen!

  • Blow Your Top

by QuantumWoody on 8/24/09House of Blues Sunset Strip - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

ZZ Top blew the top off the HOB Sunset from the very beginning and didn't let up. Starting off with Got Me Under Pressure and then ending their encores with guests John Mayer and Slash for La Grange and Tush. Sure, there were a couple songs missed, but for a band that's been around for 40 years, you expect that. But they also dug deep into their catalog and pulled out Mexican Blackbird and Brown Sugar.

  • ZZ Top Put the "Blues" in the House of Blues

by Manix on 8/24/09House of Blues Sunset Strip - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

The best show I've been to yet! ZZ Top played an amazing show featuring all of their top hits and several other songs from their historic library.
