Vancouver Whitecaps FC History
The Vancouver Whitecaps may have only joined MLS in 2011 (alongside the Portland Timbers), but the team has a long history in the Pacific Northwest. The Whitecaps first launched in 1974 as a member of the now-defunct North American Soccer League and moved to the Canadian Soccer League in 1986 as the 86ers. The team would remain as the 86ers until 2000 when the Whitecaps name resurfaced as part of the A-League, which would later become the United Soccer League (USL).
Finally, on March 18, 2009, the Whitecaps were introduced as the newest franchise in MLS, where they would keep the Whitecaps name as part of the United States' top division. The club qualified for their first playoff run in 2012, becoming the first Canadian MLS franchise to do so. Meanwhile, the Whitecaps have claimed the Voyageurs Cup at the annual interleague Canadian Championship in 2015, 2022, and 2013 and count 2013 MLS Golden Boot winner Camilo Sanvezzo among their alumni.

Venue was amazing. The support staff was very friendly in assisting us not only through the door, but helping us find our seats.
Every step along the way was absolutely amazing! I recommend this to any family!
Enjoyed the food lovely food from proper chefs GREAT TREAT !!! Clean lovely atmosphere bath rooms were nice attendance were helpful and courteous I look forward to our next game
It was a great game! After 90 minutes, the result was 2:2. The penalty shooting was amazing! It was the longest live penalty shooting in my life!! Great game!
This is the first time i actually bought tickets for me and my family, usually someone gives us tickets. This game was so intense my 2 kids are special needs and they loved every minute. You hardly see a game go to penalty shoot out but 4 times was a dream.
We enjoyed seeing the Whitecaps host Club Leon from Mexico. It was fun to see the enthusiastic Mexican fans (and of course the Whitecaps supporters). A bit expensive though - over $200 for a family of four - and that is before drinks and snacks. If there were more affordable options, we would go more often.
Good score for whitecaps, but the players were letting others have too much space to make pass and they didn’t look too excited about the game
The game itself was fabulous. But the VOLUME of music - the flashing crazy lights and overall OVERSTIMULATION of it all was a real drag.
It’s my first time to go this stadium to watch white cap, the staff was very kind and polite!! Good atmosphere..a wonderful night!!
Beer really overpriced, nothing to compare… In every place the beer price is more affordable than in Vancouver BC Stadium
My family and I had a blast at the Whitecaps game. I especially enjoyed the passion that most of the fans showed - the supporters banging on drums and singing was awesome. It's an entertaining and affordable event with plenty of action.
Our family of 4 traveled from Minneapolis for this event. Our son uses a wheelchair. The website showed I could only purchase 2 ADA seats so the other 2 had to purchase tickets elsewhere. At the event there were 6 open seats next to us in the ADA section. Even though they were not occupied the entire event, the ushers refused to allow our family to move so we could be together. Incidentally there was another family in our section who had to split up as well. This is a terrible policy. If we were local, we would not return.
This was my first-time watching a professional soccer game live and it was a awesome experience. White caps for the win 5-0
Game was uneventful and stadium.lacked atmosphere....majority of seats were empty. This happens when tickets are over priced and left unsold!! Imagine having discounted unsold tickets..maybe even having donated some to a local charity and having full stadium of an appreciative audience who want to be there who are invested in the game rather than the underwhelming mexican wave that generated more excitment than the game itself!!
We bought two tickets for the game on Oct 2 vs Austin. The Whitecaps' web site and Ticketmaster set the game for Oct 2, 4 pm. However, on short notice, the game was rescheduled to Oct 1, 7 pm. We missed the game and weren't even able to sell our tickets, because Ticketmaster isn't competent enough to accept non-US or non-Canadian credit cards. You're good to buy from abroad under a false expectation, but lost when it comes to getting your money back. Thanks for nothing.
The last time Vancouver won this trophy I was in grade 2. It warms my heart 🥲
Great game, great atmosphere, great entertainment and we beat Toronto so it doesn't get any better than that! On to conquer CONCACAF.
Best experience ever, the whole family loved it and we had a great night
The field side standing area tickets were so worth it. Such a great idea, will definitely be coming back with those same tickets!
It was a great night out with friends! Great drink options at the arena and the crowd was positive and fun! Good vibes all around!
