Vancouver Canucks History

The Vancouver Canucks started play in 1970, entering the league along with the Buffalo Sabres. Vancouver has been to the Stanley Cup Final on three occasions, though they lost to the New York Islanders in 1982, the New York Rangers in 1994 and the Boston Bruins in 2011.

Despite humble beginnings, the Canucks continued to develop. With the arrival of three key players — Captain Trevor Linden, netminder Kirk McLean, and "the Russian Rocket" Pavel Bure, the Canucks had a winning Playoff run season — making it to the 1994 finals.

The Canucks continued to acquire superstars like Alexander Mogilny and Markus Näslund, and while the following years meant a series of losses, it allowed for the team to draft Henrik and Daniel Sedin, who would go on to lead the Canucks to Presidents' Trophies in back-to-back seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12, as well as their finals appearance in 2011.

Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena

The Vancouver Canucks play their home games at the 475,000-square foot Rogers Arena, which also played host to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games where Sidney Crosby scored the “Golden Goal.” A staple of downtown Vancouver, the Canucks played their first game at the arena on October 9, 1995. Other notable events that have taken place at the arena include the 1998 NHL All-Star Game, 2019 NHL Entry Draft, and in October 2002 when Queen Elizabeth II dropped the ceremonial first puck during an NHL exhibition game between the Canucks and San Jose Sharks. Additionally, the arena played host to Games 1, 2, 5, and 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals.

    Awesome experience

by Koots Guy on 5/3/24Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Going to a Canucks game in person far surpasses watching it on TV. The atmosphere in the arena is totally electric and well worth the price of a ticket. Even though the Canucks lost, it was all good!

    Great atmosphere with amazing fans

by Hockey Jen on 4/29/24Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I loved that Al Murdoch was in house, making the calls like a home game. The buzzer drew us to our feet when we scored! But the best was watching the game with all the other fans. On our feet, waving our towels, cheering our team on. Fantastic! Please do it for all the away game.

These watch parties may be the only time we'd be able to afford the NHL experience.

    Canucks 1st time game experience

by Hockey mom5 on 4/27/24Rogers Arena - Vancouver

We’ve been long time dedicated fans of the Canucks and as a mom of two grown sons who played hockey as kids I was able to finally treat them and myself to a live game for the very first time. After the recent death of their father, my husband, we really needed something positive and uplifting in our lives. This was an absolutely amazing experience and one that we will never forget! Go Canucks Go!!!

    Accessibility an afterthought

by Luke on 4/25/24Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I had to buy overpriced resale tickets because the accessibility seating was sold out. I was very disappointed to find the accessible section actually half empty. Disabled fans should be given priority access to accessible seating.

    The game was great

    by Lynne.perry on 4/4/24Rogers Arena - Vancouver

But the seating is way to tight together. I am not a big person I am 5'2 140 lbs and I was uncomfortable. My husband is 5'11 235 and he couldn't fit comfortably in the seats. Won't go again.. and ticket prices are a joke. Way to high
