About

With a catalog of songs that reaches back 50 years, Van Morrison always delivers a concert that’s impossible to predict  for his many ticket buyers. The iconic Northern Ireland native has, of course, recorded classic albums like Moondance and Astral Weeks, and timeless singles like "Brown Eyed Girl," "Domino," and "Wild Night." But he's released well over 30 albums during the course of his career, building a repertoire that veers from Celtic music to folk to blues to covers of standards. His focus on any given night could switch on the dime as he follows his muse wherever it takes him. From Madison Square Garden to Arizona Federal Theatre, fans fill seats to see Van Morrison on tour because the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is a master of making his own whatever genre or song he tackles. His unmistakable voice is a reedy and expressive growl, and his delivery --  which is constantly evolving -- conjures elements of jazz, blues and gospel. His latest album, 2012's Born to Sing: No Plan B, marked his first batch of original songs in five years and was hailed by many critics as recalling his much-heralded recordings of the late '60s and early '70s. It peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 chart.

    Don’t waste your money

    by Larry R on 10/3/23

I went to see Van Morrison at the Santa Barbara Bowl. Extremely disappointing. He played one song that I recognized. Gloria. And that was the last song. Then the show was over. No encore. They played a little over an hour. Also, there was a problem with the sound system. Maybe only 30% volume and yet they continued on. Many people left early. Sadly, I’ve read many poor reviews. If he doesn’t want to be a concert musician, don’t do concerts. Waste of my money!!

Extremely disappointed that not a single old song was played. Should have looked at the playlist before going.

    So Cool And Classy

by K&K in Vegas on 9/25/23Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood - Las Vegas

Fantastic show! So cool and classy. From Mr Morrison’s electric blue suit, the stage lighting and amazing vocals and musicians, the show was captivating from the second he took the stage to the well deserved standing “O”!

    Entertainment

by Nursey on 9/20/23Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood - Las Vegas

I thought he and his band were very entertaining and they are all extremely talented. However, I was extremely disappointed that he didn’t play at least ONE old song. I understand they get tired of those songs but WE the fans don’t and that’s what we pay for!

Loved the performance of Van. Band and backup singers were amazing. Would have rated at 5 stars, but I wanted to hear more of his songs.

    Magificent performance

by maird on 9/17/23Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood - Las Vegas

The last concert of the Ls Vegas residence was the best. Excellent nine-piece band plus Van and the dynamic performnce makes for different experience at every gig. The combination of the latest skiffle album material, some covers that fit in-place plus a few Van classics was perfect. The selection of oldies was different at each gig leaving the impression it was truly a live performance. It can really draw you in so that you feel yu're part of it or that the performance if just for you. I had a great time and would recommend Van Morrison to anyone.

Never know what you are going to get

by jtrdo on 9/17/23Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood - Las Vegas

No doubt Van Morrison is a legend. You never know what you are going to get. He played a full show of music, little talk, but only an hour and 35 minutes, mostly of lesser-known tunes, which is OK if you like Van. If you went there for hits you would leave disappointed. His band was wonderful, the venue excellent. He starts right on time, so I’ll be there on time.

    Van Morrison Concert Las Vegas

    by Bad Show on 9/16/23

First of all he never interacted with the crowd and after an hour and a half he walked off the stage. No thank you or a good night. He had all those classic hits and played one at the end. Finally he spoke and said “now for something different” and began Into the Mystic that was basically unrecognizable as the band wasn’t playing the original music. Occasionally he would sing the words Into the Mystic and when the fog horn blows but other that it was completely different song. The crowd was older and the majority was there to hear the 80’s and 90’s hits. Between songs groups of the crowd would sing clips of hit songs but he didn’t get the hints. Big disappointment for $150 ticket for a seat to sit in the back. The band was good but too many individual solos on every song. Just a way to eat time and to save a 70 some year old singers voice.

    Great concert!

by Kelli on 9/16/23Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood - Las Vegas

It was my second time seeing Van Morrison and again he did not disappoint. His band and back up singers were amazing and his talent blows me away. He continues to evolve and is NOT slowing down! If you don’t expect to hear Brown Eyed Girl and respect him for the truly talented artist that he is, you will love this show!

    Musical Genius

    by JG on 9/16/23

Van Morrison is a musical genius. Saw him twice last week in Vegas, sat front row center and he was spectacular. His voice is as strong as ever and his music never better. He may not always sing what you want but he’s so great. For those looking only for the oldies you are missing out on his brilliance. We all love the old stuff and he does some of that, but his new Skiffle album is awesome. Thanks for saving those songs Van! Can’t wait for Accentuate the Positive, keep it up I will be in the front row waiting for whatever you choose to sing. Love it all!

    Disappointed

by Charlie C on 9/15/23Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood - Las Vegas

I have been a fan of Van Morrison since i was a little boy in the 70s. I had never seen him live so I couldn't have been more disappointed when he played new music that l had never heard and only played 1 of his many hits. He sounded good but had I known I would have saved my money. Very disappointed.

    Still waiting on the encore….

    by Papa on 9/14/23

If we had seen this concert at some jazz club, it would’ve been great. Some no name artist with a great band that played a bunch of jazz songs. What a night that would’ve been! However, we flew to Vegas for the sole purpose of seeing the one and only Van Morrison. Decades of hits. And….he played 2 of them. A lounge singer jazz version of Have I Told You Lately and the finale Gloria, which he wasn’t even on stage for at the end of the song. The only Moondance we encountered was on the shirt we bought before the concert. If he wants us to listen to what music he’s into these days, maybe he should put a playlist on Spotify or something. Of course Cotton Fields by CCR would hardly be considered fresh…..sorry Van stick to your hits.

    Very disappointing

by Linda B. on 9/14/23The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San Diego

Van Morrison put on a great show, but unfortunately it wasn’t the show I paid $300 to see. He played not one recognizable song. Yes, I know you want to play your new stuff, but we’re paying to hear the songs we know and love. So play half new (if that much, and if you insist) and half your hits and old favorites. Show a little respect for your audience. But it’s okay, I learned my lesson. I’ll never buy a Van Morrison ticket again.

    by W. L. on 9/14/23

All I want to say is how lucky are we in 2023 to be able to be there live picking up what Van chooses to put down. Great band & backing vocals. Enjoyed the new skiffle project a lot.👍☘️🍻

Van Morrison: Amazing musician, disappointing performer

by Disappointed in San Diego on 9/14/23The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San Diego

After spending a huge amount of money for 2 tickets, I was extremely disappointed with Van Morrison’s show. While he can still sing and play instruments well, his concert was a disappointment. He did not acknowledge that he was performing in San Diego, he did not play any of his most recognizable songs, and he left the stage early without even thanking the audience for coming to the show. I’m sorry that I wasted $75 on two Van Morrison t-shirts that I don’t plan to wear!
