About

With a catalog of songs that reaches back 50 years, Van Morrison always delivers a concert that’s impossible to predict  for his many ticket buyers. The iconic Northern Ireland native has, of course, recorded classic albums like Moondance and Astral Weeks, and timeless singles like "Brown Eyed Girl," "Domino," and "Wild Night." But he's released well over 30 albums during the course of his career, building a repertoire that veers from Celtic music to folk to blues to covers of standards. His focus on any given night could switch on the dime as he follows his muse wherever it takes him. From Madison Square Garden to Arizona Federal Theatre, fans fill seats to see Van Morrison on tour because the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is a master of making his own whatever genre or song he tackles. His unmistakable voice is a reedy and expressive growl, and his delivery --  which is constantly evolving -- conjures elements of jazz, blues and gospel. His latest album, 2012's Born to Sing: No Plan B, marked his first batch of original songs in five years and was hailed by many critics as recalling his much-heralded recordings of the late '60s and early '70s. It peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Van Morrison - Still Good Live

by VMFan on 8/7/09Dar Constitution Hall - Washington

Van Morrison sounded good last night at DAR Constitution Hall. The nine person band with him was fantastic. Van never showed much emotion last night and did not address the crowd, but I still had a good evening.

    Not a showman

by smuttersbaugh on 8/7/09Dar Constitution Hall - Washington

This show was bad. He did not address the audience, and then simply walked off stage in the middle of the last song. I spent $360 on legitimate tickets, and would like a refund. Awful. What a shame.

    A legend in my time

by VanMfan on 8/7/09Dar Constitution Hall - Washington

As a kid you appreciate musical talent and music that cross the divide of jazz, soul and rock. Van Morrison has always moved me and his music will continue to make my soul fly. It was a great event and Constitution Hall was perfect forum. Walking the halls after the event proved that there are other soulful fans who enjoyed the moment and appreciate how special Van Morrison's music has touched the world. May he rock-on forever!

even with technical challenges, he is the best

by cocotte on 8/7/09Dar Constitution Hall - Washington

the first 30 minutes of the show the sound was awful. even van morrison himself was clearly uncomfortable. once things were solved, it was a complete delight. his voice his one of the most impressive and he is a showman almost with no effort.

    Good show

by 350TD on 8/7/09Dar Constitution Hall - Washington

Music was great but too much stage drama between Van and his stage manager, having to more the drum set over 6 inches mid show. I've heard he doesn't enter act with the audience ,but no greeting or thank you to the crowd seems unprofessional to fans paying $350.00 a ticket. Also no encore but his music and voice sounded great and did not disappoint.

    Robbed in DC

by Beitz on 8/7/09Dar Constitution Hall - Washington

The show was a disappointment. The concert consisted of all new stuff and then he closed with a spiritless version of Brown-Eyed Girl. After that, despite a very polite audience who cried out for an encore, there was none. In fact, not once did he even acknowledged the audience. Perhaps that is his style, I don't know, but what I hoped for was some sort of connection between this great musician and the audience, and to hear at least a few classics. I paid over $500 for two seats and a rare opportunity to see Van Morrison perform, and feel let down. Save your time and money and just download his music.

Van Morrison, save the money and listen to the CD

by Review1 on 8/7/09Dar Constitution Hall - Washington

VM-came out Thursday night with the same loveable voice you'd be expecting, however his attitude toward the audience was far from warm, in fact I don't think he knew we were even there watching him at $100+ a ticket. I recently attended the Wolf Trap Joe Cocker concert, another harsh, musty voice but the exception was you could understand him and he connected and acknowledged his audience, VM couldn't care less. When was the last time you spent $100+ for a concert and the performer/group did not come out for at least one encore? I will always like VM for what he has produced, but would not recommend to anyone, including his best friend, to see him live!

van morrison was too short and too garbled

by concertman33 on 8/7/09Dar Constitution Hall - Washington

compared to the mcCartney concert that lasted almost 3 hrs, Van played less than 2 hrs with no encore what a waste of money

BIG disappointment for many loyal fans

by SSCujo on 8/6/09Wang Center of Performing Arts - Boston

My wife and I just saw Van Morrison at the Wang Center in Boston on July 4th. As advertised, we were expecting a combination of his new work along with some of the popular selections from his older material. Much to the dismay of many fans, all he did was his accoustic new material. He did not perfom one of his older and more popular songs. My wife, a huge fan, was so dissapointed! The lady directly in front of me actually boo'd him at the end of the concert. There were a lot of very disappointed people that paid big $$ to see him. So, if you want to hear any of his older work, save your hard earned money - you will be disappointed!!

    Van IS the Man!

by Luceelu on 8/3/09Nokia - Dallas

I'm so disappointed he's not coming back to the Dallas area. Ever since I first heard, "Hard Nose the Highway", I've been a loyal fan. For those who've never before been to a Van Morrison concert, a word of warning.... He comes on stage EXACTLY at the advertised time (unlike most other acts). It was a fantastic concert with unbelievably talented musicians. I was truly mesmorized from start to finish.

    Astral Weeks Live is stunning

by Orenthal97 on 7/28/09Hollywood Bowl, Wamu, Beacon Theater, Royal Albert Hall, Orpheum - LA, NY, NY, London, LA

Having seen nearly the entire run since last November when Van Morrison retraced his roots to his first album from 40 years ago, Astral Weeks -- I would highly recommend this concert event to any Van fan and those not that familiar as you will be "transcended"...
