THERE IS ONLY ONE. HER VOICE IS UNDENIABLE. HER FIRE IS UNSTOPPABLE. HER TRIUMPH IS UNLIKE ANY OTHER.
An uplifting comeback story like no other, TINA - The Tina Turner Musical is the inspiring journey of a woman who broke barriers and became the Queen of Rock n' Roll.
One of the world's best-selling artists of all time, Tina Turner has won 12 Grammy Awards and her live shows have been seen by millions, with more concert tickets sold than any other solo performer in music history.
Featuring her much loved songs, TINA - The Tina Turner Musical is written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Katori Hall and directed by the internationally acclaimed Phyllida Lloyd.
It was such a great musical. The performances from everyone were outstanding. I would definitely see it again.
Singing from the actress playing Tina was strong; from the actor playing Ike not so good. The girl playing little Tina had a good voice too. The acting, however, was universally forced, too fast-paced, and consequently unnatural. The first act was particularly poor and the second act only slightly better. Overall the show came across as an thinly-veiled effort to malign Tina’s negligent biological mother and abusive ex-husband. The show was certainly not compelling or profound but instead an excuse to perform some popular songs.
I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was "Simply the Best!" I love how they incorporated her hits throughout the show to tell her story. There was ongoing energy and phenomenal lighting and stage presence. Loved it!
Great songs, great actors, great staging, just the perfect night at the theatre. And then the encore had everyone on their feet. So much joy and happiness in that theatre. I haven’t felt that since pre-covid. So happy to be back to the big show!
One of the best musical I’ve ever seen. I was completely exhausted after the play watching all the dancing. I felt like I was seeing Tina Turner. It was phenomenal.
I absolutely loved the ending. I've been to 3 Tina Turner concerts in my life, and this felt like a 4th!!
Musical was very good to me, I have seen much better. It was freezing in the theatre and that didn’t help either. Could have had more singing and the story should have been told better. I wouldn’t recommend it.
We really enjoyed Tina Turner Musical. The cast was fantastic, however, the person who played the role of Ike was not totally up to par by Broadway standards. Also, I think if the woman playing Tina would have used more of her own voice, as opposed to trying to imitate Tina, she would have been much better. The Music was fantastic, but how can you go wrong with Tina Turner. Also the energy of the cast, the staging & sets were fantastic, as was how the writers put together the story line. All in all a great show, and I would recommend it to others to go see. A great double rags to riches story about one of the biggest Diva Icons in history!
The stage scenery was not impressive and Tina’s voice was inconsistent. There were times when she did a good job of imitating Tina but this was inconsistent for the most part. Perhaps my expectations were to high.
Great telling of Tina's story and her resilience. Music was engaging and wonderful
Simple but effective set changes, with a storyline that moved seamlessly from acts. Although the lead “Tina” was pitchy on several occasions with song renditions, the overall acting was really good. Be sure not to leave early, it’s a musical AND a Concert at the end. I can’t wait to see it again!
1. First and foremost, it lacked the ENERGY that Tina Turner presented in all of her performances. 2. Ike's treatment of Tina was not portrayed as horrible as it really was, prompting her to go over seas for proper recognition. 3. Should have showcased with full performance of her signature songs.
Great costumes, fantastic dancing, enjoyable music BUT way too much attention in the storyline about Ike and his problems; more storyline/details of Tina’s life and her extremely happy days, including her spiritual journey would have pleased me immensely.
Tina Turner's music has always been amazing and when you tie those tunes to her life story, the result is profound and touching. The Chicago cast of TINA gave excellent performances in paying a tribute to Tina. The production had great stagecraft and a live orchestra which made it more profound and exciting. If you love Tina's music like we do, don't miss this show!
I felt that “Tina” was pushing it vocally sometimes. Almost to the point where it didn’t sound good. Really didn’t have “Tina’s “ moves down & the back up dances in the one number (black dresses) looked like suburban housewives..
TINA was one of the best show experiences ever. Her story is a roller coaster, but ends in such a wonderful way. The bonus of the “concert” was amazing!!
Great performances! Little confusing ending when she asked if we wanted to hear a "couple of song "she" wrote" Initially I thought she was referencing songs "she"[not Tina] penned.
Fantastic musical. The music and dancing were very entertaining. It brings to mind all the songs and talent Tina shared with us during her active years. Also the play has a triumph over tragedy theme. The young 4th grader who played the young Tina was so inspiring and jubilant. All aspects of the musical were awesome
I truly enjoyed the musical from beginning to end.
Loved everything about Tina! Always have. Having seen most Broadway productions in NYC i was thrilled to see a performance in Chicago that stood up to NYC. Ticket buying experience was great. Seats were perfect and the crowd was respectful and enthusiastic! Highly recommend.
