The Regrettes in Concert
The Regrettes vocalist/guitarist Lydia Night isn't one to mince words. On her band's breakout tune, the girl-group-meets-garage-rock rave-up "A Living Human Girl," the outspoken feminist details physical flaws and personal shortcomings, but asserts her right to "dress how I want" and embrace imperfection: "Sometimes I'm pretty, and sometimes I'm not." At other moments, Night's righteous anger is inspiring: The grungy rocker "Come Through," the first track from 2018's ‘Attention Seeker' EP, lays out, in no uncertain terms, that she is ready to eject toxic people from her life.
Such brutally honest vulnerability has helped Los Angeles-based the Regrettes (and Night herself) become role models to legions of teens. But the group's 2017 major-label debut, ‘Feel Your Feelings, Fool!,' has wide appeal thanks to a kinetic punk foundation spliced with nods to girl groups, New Wave, '50s rock 'n' roll, and the Smiths. Newer tunes released since then are yet more sophisticated: the jubilant, pogo-punk ripper "Helpless" boasts Cali-pop beachy harmonies and shredding guitars, while the driving "California Friends" brings to mind Joan Jett.
Incredibly enough, Night accomplished all this before being old enough to vote. She spent her early years singing Ramones songs while visiting her dad's New Orleans nightclub, and was inspired to start playing guitar after seeing a Donnas concert — at age five. Thankfully, her parents encouraged her aptitude: Night attended a California-area School of Rock and met other kindred spirits, which led to The Regrettes' formation in 2015.
Unsurprisingly, the Regrettes are energetic and mesmerizing live — the worthy descendents of '90s riot grrrls. Night high-kicks and dances around the stage, and encourages crowds to let their hair down and roar along with her. It's no wonder the Regrettes have toured with fellow rabble-rousers the Interrupters and Tacocat, and spent summer 2018 making the festival rounds at Coachella, Governors Ball, Bonnaroo, and Lollapalooza. With an endless stream of new music— and a spot on Alt Nation's Advanced Placement Tour 2018 with Welles and Micky James also locked down — the Regrettes are just getting started.
This was my second time seeing the Regrette’s, and this show was better then the first! They have so much energy! I would see them again in a ❤️beat! The Wiltern was a Great venue, and the opening acts were fantastic!
The Regrettes were AMAZING, and the opening bands Rocket and Claud killed it. My friends and I all felt so lucky to hear them all perform. However the venue was basically packed, and nobody was asking to show proof of vaccination or negative test like they said they would. Maybe 5% of people were wearing masks, and everybody on the ground floor was tightly packed. A friend was in VIP and said they were requiring masks, but they absolutely did not. Overall it was an amazing concert, but I would not have gone if I had realized how little precautions would be taken. We ended up sitting in balcony seats away from everyone so we felt safe but it was pretty anxiety provoking for sure. If this is read by anyone who can control this, it would be really great if you guys could make more of an effort to practice the precautions that were said would be in place. Thank you so much to the Regrettes, Claud, and Rocket for the amazing music!
The band is grown up and rocking harder than ever-that means having a good time with audience and adoring fans. New album songs sound great and future looks bright. More fun than the GOGO’s ever where-no attitude thing ya know

One thing you will NOT do during a regrettes show is stand still whether you know em or not they WILL get you moving. Great performance 10/10
While lacking in stage production, they brought amazing energy, and incredible fun into Minneapolis' Varsity Theater. Give em a production budget, and a venue that can handle it, and this band should be on your bucket list. Incredible fun!
I only went to this concert because my friend invited me to come with them; they had been a fan of The Regrettes for 2 years! I listened to their new album (further joy) and I really liked it! I wasn’t a HUGE fan of theirs but I did enjoy their music. Now after going to their concert, I’ve memorized all of their albums and songs and I’m completely obsessed with them. I would definitely see them again!!!!!!
Although the audience was quite small they put on such a high energy show. They were giving it their all and Lydia especially was such a good performer, she didn’t just sing for us, she danced, joked, put on a show. Of course she also has an an amazing voice
We always love bands that are as good (or better) live as they are in the studio. The Regrettes sound great and bring amazing energy to the stage. Go see them, you won’t be disappointed.
They're an awesome band that's still young and plays so well together. They really seem to be enjoying themselves out here, and they sound great. Fantastic show.
The Regrettes made it look so effortless and so fun!! Lots of interaction with the audience. We also really liked Alex Lahey. She rocks!
I absolutely love the Regrettes. They always put on a great and energetic show, no matter the venue. The Irving Plaza was a great venue with really great workers making sure everyone was safe and ready for the show.
The range of songs was amazing! Lydia’s stage presence is some of the best i’ve seen and overall it was a really great experience. Cheap too!

The Regrettes know how to put on a show! The show was high-energy, engaging, and FUN. They played some older stuff mixed in with the new album that came out a month ago. Would highly recommend seeing them live!
Lydia and the whole band has amazing stage presence and she gets up close and personal with the crowd!
Lincoln Theater has seats on the whole floor and somehow I was still jumping up and down, dancing, and yelling like a normal bar concert. That’s the effect The Regrettes have. No one girlbosses as hard as those musicians.
This was the perfect first concert for a dad and a 13yo daughter. The messages in their music are great. I discovered The Regrettes through college radio and immediately thought about all the strong, punky women I admire and how much I want to share that with the next generation. They exceeded all expectations.
I don't have strong feelings about Regrettes. They're fine, they're good at what they do, I'm glad people like them. But Alex Lahey was a tremendous, balls-out, bulldozer of a performance. It's not often an opening act pulls off a Faith Hill cover, a saxophone solo, and a sing-along, but Lahey and her band did so with such bonkers, fun energy, that they stole the show for me. Cannot wait to see Lahey come around as the headliner, and SOON.
