This is one of those really special events where the play is personally presented by the author. And an amazing story it is and well told.
I was unfamiliar with this story. She brought it to life in a moving, personal Story. Yet another side of the story.
I did not know what to expect since friend of mine suggested to join her and I am so glad I did. It was such a touching event and the story told was based on the true facts, which was accompanied by piano sound. If you only have a chance, don't hesitate.. just buy tickets and enjoy!
We left after an hour---the actress was difficult to hear; her words trailed off at the end of a statement-she seemed robotic, disinterested, a total lack of passion.. and we were very disappointed.
Very well done. The music was beautiful...a must see!
She has so much talent as a pianist and a story teller. I loved the performance. I would see it again.
We went in not knowing the story behind the title, but the story was fascinating, and the pianist amazing.
Our friends raved about this show and as my mind drifted a little during it, I wondered if what really attracted my friends to it was the piano playing as they were both musicians. As a pianist, she was tremendous. As a story teller, telling the story of her mother's Holocaust escape on the kinder transport and how playing piano impacted her mother's life -- she was OK. The personal history was vivid and clear but somewhat predictable and homogenized. Still, there was a standing ovation that included the entire audience as well as myself.
I enjoyed The Pianist of Willesden Lane. It was very moving and a beautiful tribute to her mother.
Mona Golabek is a gifted pianist. And the family story she tells is riveting, Couldn't believe that an hour and a half had passed when the show ended. Kudos to Mona and Hershey Felder for bringing this story to the stage.
The PWL was even better than what I had expected. It was a great way to tell an incredible story. The piano playing was truly exceptional. I highly recommend seeing it.
Show was amazing.... Story moving, music beautiful
I highly recommend this play. As a tribute to her mother it is truly a labor of love. That said, the emotion that is generated as well as the amazing work on the piano makes this an experience not to be missed. Be prepared to be moved as Mona tells the story of her mother through the holocaust years and her survival by moving to England. This is a story of amazing will by a young woman that I'm not sure many others would have been capable of, especially at age 14-15. Don't miss it!
A wonderfully entertaining one-women show displaying incredible talent. A true story woven through great live music.
This program was so unique. The stage was austere, but perfect. Not a dry eye in the house!
The play was spectacular! Mona was fabulous, as an actress, storyteller and pianist. I did not want it to end and was moved terribly throughout the performance.
Thought the Pianist was wonderful!! The star was amazing!
An interesting story along with amazing piano playing and theatrics to make the evening very enjoyable and heart-rending!
A masterpiece by definition; a beautiful and entertaining afternoon
