    'Pianist' is Awesome......

by MarkGJ on 6/30/13Royal George Theatre - Chicago

'The Pianist of Willesden Lane' is one of the most moving shows I've seen in ages. The story is unforgetably touching and the piano playing and the music are extraordinary. I went to this show kind of by chance and I am so pleased that I did.

An extremely moving play!!! Very well done. I have recommended it to many friends already, and we just saw it. Mona Golabeck is a wonderfully talented actress as well as musician.

Pianist of Willesden Lane, a must see!

by thoughtfulgirl7 on 6/25/13Royal George Theatre - Chicago

A special tribute to a mother, acted by her daughter with love and honor. This story is so special for all to see. The acting and piano playing are wonderful. The story is a reminder of the thousands of amazing survivors of the holocaust and their individual stories. Whether you love piano, history, family or theatre, I highly recommend you see this play.

    The Pianist of Willesden Lane

by MarBK on 6/18/13Royal George Theatre - Chicago

Probably the most incredible, moving and heart-wrenching production I have EVER seen. I was one of a group of 4 and all of us were totally overwhelmed by the beauty of the music and the poignant story. The next day we purchased tickets for our children so they, too, could experience the beauty of this story.

    This is a must see!

by Nomoss on 6/14/13Royal George Theatre - Chicago

This play is an emotional superstar. I felt like I was living in the story of Lisa Jura. Mona Golabek does an extraordinary job of bringing her mother's emotions to life on the stage. She also is an amazing pianist. Bring Kleenex to the show, because there was not a dry eye in the crowd. Amazing!!!

    The way it was

by Algeneri on 5/27/13Royal George Theatre - Chicago

Events depicted familiar to students of WWII. Very good production, excellent piano playing, good story teller - prompting some sniffling among the audience. Old/small theater, plan to get there early if you have to sit:only a few benches in the lobby!

I just couldn't believe that I was there watching/listening to Mona. I read the book and passed it on to all I knew. What a story and so well written. Had heard her speak on WGN when the bookb first came out and just had to read it. If I could aford it, I would see the show several more times! I just couldn't believe that she didn't even take a drink of water during the whole performance. What a remarkable person Mona is.

This was a beautiful tribute by a daughter who so deeply loved her mother and is defined by her mother's strength. The music was incredible, I could have sat and listened to Mona play the piano for hours; she is enormously talented. Mona's narration was amazing. I felt transported to a different time and place. Mona is not just telling a story, she is reliving her mother's journey with each performance and she is emotionally drained at the end. This cannot be easy for her, but I am so happy that she is sharing this story with the world.

    Phenomenal and Surprising!

by ChitownCulture on 5/20/13Royal George Theatre - Chicago

This show is an interesting, fast-moving, powerful and surprising play of an amazing story. I know these are all superlatives, but the show deserves it. The audience was totally caught up in the beauty of the music and virtuosity of Mona Golabek's performance, but when she came to the end of the show, there were audible gasps as she revealed the secret of the story. People were moved to tears, not only by the music, but by the nobility and beauty of the story. I am considering going a second time, just for the sheer pleasure. Thank you, Mona, for what you have shared with your audience and the public, and for the dedication of your life. And thanks to Hershey Felder, whose instinct for a great story is unerring. Don't miss the Pianist of Willesden Lane!!!!
