THE BRILLIANT ORIGINAL RETURNS "MORE SPECTACULAR THAN EVER" - Sunday Express

The Phantom is back to thrill audiences once again! Cameron Mackintosh presents a revitalized new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, which was rapturously received by London critics when it reopened in 2021. Featuring Maria Björnson's brilliant original design and based on the celebrated direction of Harold Prince, with musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne, PHANTOM will launch a new multi-year North American tour in November 2025, premiering at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago December 11, 2025 - February 1, 2026.

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is widely considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular productions in history, playing to over 160 million people in 47 territories and 195 cities in 21 languages. Andrew Lloyd Webber's romantic, haunting, and soaring score includes "The Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You," "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," "Masquerade," and the iconic title song. It tells the tale of a disfigured musical genius known only as 'The Phantom' who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerized by the talents and beauty of a young soprano, Christine, The Phantom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine's love for Raoul, The Phantom's obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy, madness, and passions collide.

  • Fantastic Production!!

Phantom is one of my all time favorites and having seen it several times in different cities over the last 25 years, this might have been my favorite production yet. I brought my 10 year old daughter and she enjoyed it too. It was her first non-disney theatrical production and she is hooked.

Phantom is an all-time family favorite, so this was a fun way to share a Christmas gift with the entire family. Cast had great talent, and the venue was excellent! A must see!

  • Wonderful Production by an Talented Cast

    by DougR121 on 1/2/17Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I actually saw this limited run production twice, once in an evening performance and once as a matinee. Surprisingly the evening performance I attended did not include either of the two "headliners" (Derrick Davis as the Phantom and Katie Travis as Christine). While the two understudies who performed during that evening presentation were very good, I really wanted to see the two primary performers. I was lucky enough to see Derrick Davis portray the Phantom during the matinee show and must say that he brought a depth to the character that was really quite moving. Although the run for this show will be over shortly, I recommend it strongly and encourage anyone reading this who might still be considering tickets to stop postponing their decision and go see this wonderful performance of a moving and timeless love story.

All casts were perfect and the stage was impressive.

Most of the cast lacked stage presence and the stage production didn't do the story justice.

This was my first Broadway performance to go to and it was awesome. It was a surprise for my wife on our 10 year wedding anniversary. I would definitely go again.

I thought it was very good. There was an interruption just before intermission. It appeared some thought it was intermission and left their seats in spite of the announcement

  • Great show, with minor technical flaws.

    by BroadwayFanatic198 on 1/1/17Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Saw the show on 12/29 in Chicago, and the vocals and overall production were what you would expect from this record-breaking musical. However, there were some pretty major technical flaws in the first act, that caused the show to stop abruptly while they fixed the issue. In the second act, the Phantom's mic was muffled for the final song. Overall, still a great show.

  • Disappointed!

by Anonymous on 1/1/17Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

First, we were in the 5th row of left orchestra. It was VERY hard to hear at times. I am wondering if there was a problem with sound as the Phantom's mic went out several times during the second half. Shortly before intermission, the actors had to step for a 10 minutes technical difficulty. Understandable but... The woman who played Christine made some of the most bizarre facial expressions! It was VERY distracting. I am surprised no one has asked her to work on it. Overall, mediocre performances by the entire cast really.

  • A must see classic

  • The Phantom of the Opera was wonderful!

by ACLOA on 12/31/16Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Brava...brava...bravissima!! You can never go wrong with Broadway in Chicago, in my opinion. I have seen this show with its previous staging, prior to the 25th anniversary. I also saw the broadcast of the 25th anniversary show live from London. This cast also didn't disappoint. My one complaint, or rather disappointment, was with the last row of the Dress Circle (near entrance #6.) You could not see when the Phantom and Christine were at the top of the staircase. I'm unsure, but I do not believe that their was an indication of an 'obstructed view' for these seats. It did not, however have much of an affect on my total experience.

  • Phantom is Phan-tastic!
