THE BRILLIANT ORIGINAL RETURNS "MORE SPECTACULAR THAN EVER" - Sunday Express
The Phantom is back to thrill audiences once again! Cameron Mackintosh presents a revitalized new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, which was rapturously received by London critics when it reopened in 2021. Featuring Maria Björnson's brilliant original design and based on the celebrated direction of Harold Prince, with musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne, PHANTOM will launch a new multi-year North American tour in November 2025, premiering at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago December 11, 2025 - February 1, 2026.
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is widely considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular productions in history, playing to over 160 million people in 47 territories and 195 cities in 21 languages. Andrew Lloyd Webber's romantic, haunting, and soaring score includes "The Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You," "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," "Masquerade," and the iconic title song. It tells the tale of a disfigured musical genius known only as 'The Phantom' who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerized by the talents and beauty of a young soprano, Christine, The Phantom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine's love for Raoul, The Phantom's obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy, madness, and passions collide.
Produced by CAMERON MACKINTOSH with THE REALLY USEFUL GROUP
Second time seeing this play. Haven't seen it in probably 15 years but still leaves me with chills.
Everything from the revolving sets to the actors themselves transported me to their world. I laughed and cried as one of my favorite musicals came to life right before my eyes! I would recommend this show to just about everyone!
Excellent new production of Phantom. Great cast and sets.
I love Phantom, but was incredibly disappointing with the cast in this production. While they were able to hit all of the notes, they lacked any power or emotion behind the songs. This was the first time I have sat through a production of phantom without feeling any emotion. This could have been a great production with different actors cast for Christine, the Phantom and Raul
We have watched the movie version many times, but the live show is much better!!
Loved the music! The sets were amazing and the actors were top notch! My daughter loved this and we would go again!
Loved the show! We were in Row T on the side of the main floor - it truly seems there would be no bad seats; the theatre is quite cozy in my opinion. The main floor bathrooms are only for the disabled so people are routed downstairs which seems crazy, but they have a whole crew of people directing traffic and it is amazingly quick to get through the lines at intermission. No regrets!
Even though I have seen the Phantom many times, this performance still thrilled me. The whole cast was great. The only complaint is that there is not enough bathrooms for the ladies. The lines were unbelievably long.
Entertaining time in Chicago. The new stage settings were fabulous. The acting and singing was pretty good too.
The play was awesome from the beautiful singing to the props and costumes. The singing from the Phantom and Christine was fabulous. This is a play to see again. My seats was orch-c, row c, seat 105 - I could have sat back several rows back because I was unable to see the actors feet sitting at row c. Also the pyrotechnics that are in the show, I was able to feel the heat sitting at row c. Overall a wonderful play.
First time to see The Phantom of the Opera. Was absolutely blown away with the acting, the orchestra, the attention to detail, the venue (The Cadillac Theatre), the lighting effects, the sound, no complaints at all!
This was just an amazing show. I should know, this is my 9th time seeing it. I just loved it. It was one of the best I've seen.
This show has the best set I have ever seen in musical theater! It is a roller coaster of emotions!
Phantom was not only amazing it was more than I could ever have imagined! Waited forever for phantom to come back to Chicago so glad I did!
An outstanding "new"production. Casting was terrific.
I have seen it a few times and this was by far the most talented cast
Orchestra and vocals amazing of course! Sound engineer needs revamping; music overpowered vocals often. It's hard enough to understand just because it's an opera/ musical.about 60% of dialogue indecipherable. Need lyric opera digital display?
Voices were amazing - gave me chills and made me cry. Acting was superb. The set never fails to amaze me- the complex design allowed for amazing scene changes.... Just brilliant.
This was my second time seeing this show, and it was just as amazing! By far my favorite musical
The Phantom of the Opera has always been my favorite play and I was a little concerned when I heard that it was a new production. It was amazing!!! The singing, as always was wonderful... The set was awesome! We took our 17year old granddaughter as her Christmas gift and she loved it!
