About

Elf The Musical, inspired by the hit film, is the hilarious and heartwarming tale of Buddy, a young orphan child whose life is changed forever when he mistakenly crawls into Santa's sack of toys one Christmas Eve. When he discovers he is human, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and, in turn, helps the Big Apple rediscover the true meaning of Christmas. This all-new tour, based on the acclaimed 2024 Broadway production, was hailed by The New York Times, which said, "The show has CRACKED THE CODE OF ALL-AGES COMEDY, the kind that will leave children and grown-ups equally helpless with laughter," and celebrated in The New Yorker, "It's enough to MAKE YOU BELIEVE IN THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS." This modern-day holiday classic, says The Daily Beast, "is a gift for kids and adults, and a very 'sparklejollytwinklejingley' night out!"

  • If you've seen the movie, you will enjoy the show

My family loves the movie "Elf" & it is our tradition to watch it on thanksgiving night. It's not Shakespeare but there are definitely parts of the musical that may not make sense if you don't know the movie. I don't agree that it was bad enough to walk out during the show but it did seem a bit long. It was good enough for a family holiday outing!

A great show! Upbeat, funny and good for the family. Buddy the Elf was very funny. Dancing and singing was excellent!

  • Elf The Musical - Very nice production

by NRMaddio on 12/18/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

This is enjoyable for all ages. The sets were not over the top as I would have expected. Otherwise a lot of nice songs and very enjoyable.

  • Great Holiday Experience

    by ALO86 on 12/18/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Elf the Musical was a very fun date night. It's hard to compete with Will Ferrell (so don't expect that), but it was still worth while. The music was great, it was funny, and it really got us in the holiday spirit. I would definitely recommend it!

  • Loved Elf!

My daughter's 19th birthday present was me, her mother, taking her to see her favorite movie come to life in Elf The Musical. We both loved it.

  • Movie was much better

    by Danielle6610 on 12/17/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

The acting and singing was excellent, and so were the scene changes. However, the musical is adapted from the movie Elf and there were a lot of changes in order to make it into a musical. It's not that the musical was bad, but it's hard to separate the musical from the movie. The cast and orchestra were both wonderful though.

  • Left at intermission.

by Busterandmaggie on 12/17/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 1 out of 5

Left at intermission, that pretty much covers it. Buddy was badly cast. Use of foul language was inappropriate for all the children in the house.

We took our girls 15, 11 & 9 for our annual Christmas trip to Chicago. It was funny and the singing and dancing was great. We loved every minute!! We would see it again.

  • not for the elf movie lover

    by sjc72 on 12/17/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

This musical was ok...at best. If you are a fanof the movie elf then you probably will not like this musical. It had a lot of adult humor that wasn't necessary for example, at the end of the musical they talk about how buddy and his girlfriend made their baby by touching in some fun ways. They're also a few curse words that were not needed and a few derogatory comments against overweight people. the person who played buddy was average. His singing was excellent however he acted much more as a homosexual then as a childish elf. they left out quite a few funny scenes from the movie and changed a few of the funny scenes from the movie to make it rather boring. none of the songs were the same whether that is because of copyright laws I don't know. I do not think this musical is for children under the age of 10. I have seen better musicals however I have also seen worse. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate this is 6.

  • Not the real elf!

by Anonymous on 12/17/13Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 2 out of 5

No taxi scene - no mail room scene - no small person scene - no singing in the shower scene - not the same music - should be retitled Elf 2!
