THE BRILLIANT ORIGINAL RETURNS "MORE SPECTACULAR THAN EVER" - Sunday Express

The Phantom is back to thrill audiences once again! Cameron Mackintosh presents a revitalized new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, which was rapturously received by London critics when it reopened in 2021. Featuring Maria Björnson's brilliant original design and based on the celebrated direction of Harold Prince, with musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne, PHANTOM will launch a new multi-year North American tour in November 2025, premiering at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago December 11, 2025 - February 1, 2026.

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is widely considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular productions in history, playing to over 160 million people in 47 territories and 195 cities in 21 languages. Andrew Lloyd Webber's romantic, haunting, and soaring score includes "The Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You," "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," "Masquerade," and the iconic title song. It tells the tale of a disfigured musical genius known only as 'The Phantom' who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerized by the talents and beauty of a young soprano, Christine, The Phantom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine's love for Raoul, The Phantom's obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy, madness, and passions collide.

  • Phantom was amazing !!

We had seen The Phantom of the Opera about 10 years ago but this performance was far better. The actors were amazing and the singing was unforgettable. We've been singing the songs ever since we left the theater. The props, stage, and costumes were beautiful. This is a definite must see for theater lovers.

It was an amazing show....the costumes, the music, the stage props, and most of all the performers.....It was a bit hard to understand all the words sung but then it was opera style so not so bad...the next time it returns to Chicago we will go and enjoy the play again.

The set, music, actors, and everyone behind the scenes performed beyond expectations. What an incredible event! I would attend again.

I have seen Phantom many times. This was my 5th show I believe and by far one of the best productions. The actor playing the Phantom was everything the Phantom should be: foreboding and strong yet tender and emotional. And his voice was AMAZING...very powerful. Loved it and the show brought me to tears which was a first.

  • The Phantom was fabulous

We went to a matinee performance and two of the three main characters were performed by the understudies, and they were fantastic! They can't be any less talented than the leads. It was a great show.

  • Amazing show, music touches your soul

My first time seeing the Phantom of the Opera - it was incredible! Music was better than I could have imagined live. Voices of the main characters spectacular. Great experience at the Cadillac Palace, too. Highly recommend.

The Phantom of the Opera is my favorite thing ever since I saw the 25th anniversary Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall. So I was extremely excited knowing it was coming to Chicago. The stage and scenery were fantastic! All the effects were so exciting. Great cast.

We went on January 7, 2017 to the evening performance. We have seem the previous productions in previous years. This was by far the best performance ever. We actually enjoyed better than Hamilton. The voices and most of them were not the originals. Sorry to see it go from Chicago. It's a must see. The acting was also amazing they just kept you so involved. Can't say enough about them. It was a wonderful love story.

This was a Christmas gift for my Mom and family. I am not a fan of musicals, but like the Phantom. I think the production was good. The pyrotechnics were really unnecessary and created a wicked stench with many people coughing. I really appreciate the talent.

  • Phantom was amazing!

by Latinoboy on 1/10/17Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I seen the Phantom on Broadway several times a year as I bring many newbies for their first Broadway show. I traveled to Boston's Opera House two years ago and just saw the show again in Chicago's Cadillac Palace Theater. The staging for the show is spectacular given the size of the theater. The Phantom played by Derrick Davis was dramatic and his voice was incredible. Trista Moldavan who played Christine on Broadway is now Carlotta on Tour! A great show with fabulous actors! Highly recommend!!!

  • Can't decide which was better

    by Ravingroe13 on 1/10/17Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I fully expected the leads to have amazing voices and they did, even though we had a stand in for female lead. If that voice was the stand in, I cannot imagine what the female lead voice would have been. What surprised me was the intensity of the production. Tremendous! Really helped tell the story. Thank you for a very satisfying experience.

  • Outstanding event

The show was amazing, and the actors were wonderful. The talent was awesome. We had the understudies for Christine and Raoul, and if they are the understudies---WOW! because they were incredible. I brought a group of 9 women, and we had an amazing time. The theater is beautiful as well.

The Phantom of the Opera was wonderful! We had a great view from the balcony, especially of the chandelier. I love the staging and incredible, redone set. . It's a must-see!

  • The Phantom of the Opera is There...Inside My Mind

by SavannaR on 1/9/17Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I bought tickets for my fiance back in October as a Christmas gift because he is a big fan of Phantom. I normally buy the cheapest tickets possible for performances, but the higher price tag was definitely worth it for these seats (ORCH-L Row M). We had a great view of the stage. The set, costume, and choreography were incredible. The actor who played the phantom had a flawless performance, but I wasn't as thrilled with Raoul. I've heard several singing styles for the music of this, and Raoul just happened to choose one that wasn't my favorite. Otherwise the music was wonderful as to be expected. I wouldn't mind seeing it a second time.

  • Great Musical!

by DjDawson on 1/9/17Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

I took my 16 year old Son who has asked to see this Musical. From the beginning to the end, we were engaged with the characters. The singing was awesome. Loved their costumes. How they were able to use that size stage for the various scenes was amazing. The dropping of the Chandelier over the audience was suspenseful. The theatre was very comfortable and very easy to access our seats. The ushers were friendly and professional. I wish there was some point when we could have taken a picture as a memory especially since our seats were so close

  • Phantom is a classic

by pbsy on 1/9/17Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Have seen Phantom at least 15 times over the past 25 years (New York, London, Chicago, Milwaukee, and Minneapolis). The music and actors performance was still a classic and very well presented. Staging was left somewhat wanting because of the size of the stage and not being able to crash the chandelier down on the stage. Certainly "Masquerade" lost some of its luster not having the ability to make the opening of the second act a really big thing. In London the audience "demanded" an encore of this scene. All in all Phantom is a must see over and over again. Certainly it's Andrew Lloyd Webber's most memorable classic.
