THE BRILLIANT ORIGINAL RETURNS "MORE SPECTACULAR THAN EVER" - Sunday Express
The Phantom is back to thrill audiences once again! Cameron Mackintosh presents a revitalized new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, which was rapturously received by London critics when it reopened in 2021. Featuring Maria Björnson's brilliant original design and based on the celebrated direction of Harold Prince, with musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne, PHANTOM will launch a new multi-year North American tour in November 2025, premiering at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago December 11, 2025 - February 1, 2026.
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is widely considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular productions in history, playing to over 160 million people in 47 territories and 195 cities in 21 languages. Andrew Lloyd Webber's romantic, haunting, and soaring score includes "The Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You," "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," "Masquerade," and the iconic title song. It tells the tale of a disfigured musical genius known only as 'The Phantom' who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerized by the talents and beauty of a young soprano, Christine, The Phantom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine's love for Raoul, The Phantom's obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy, madness, and passions collide.

I saw this production many years ago and loved it. I can't say I loved it this time. We did have a different Phantom (the fill in person) so maybe that's why. Christine was great. The set was cool but kind of amature for a Broadway production. I was kind of disappointed.
Fantastic Re-Tooling of The Phantom
by BalconyBoy on 1/15/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5We have enjoyed the original production of the Phantom several times over the years. It was exciting to hear that a new "upgraded" production was opening in Chicago. We were amazed at the new staging, sets, costumes, etc . . . while the music was left untouched. You feel like you are a part of the more open stage. Bravo to Cameron Mackintosh!

I was not a fan of the "new" production. Have seen this play many times and this version is my least favorite. The voices seemed weak many times.

First show I've attended in awhile with a standing ovation. Breathtaking scenery and effects perfectly complemented by an effusive cast. My family of seven received this tickets as a Christmas gift. The memory will last a lifetime.
Not too shabby
by AVino on 1/15/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5I would give it 3.5 stars, but if forced to it, I would consider it 'recommended'. Mackintosh's production of Phantom boasted great props and stage scenes. The only thing missing for me was the Phantom himself. I mean, I'm judging on a world-class scale here....and for all I know this was all part of the Mackintosh's take on this play....but I wasn't really able to flow with the pulse of the phantom in this incarnation. My knock on the play as a whole is that after masquerade, most of Act II is a pretty drawn up buildup to the final scene. I literally almost fell asleep twice. This has nothing to do with the current production, just a knock on the play as a whole.
Fabulous
by lleeb on 1/15/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5This was my 4th time seeing Phantom, the 2nd for three others in my group and the 1st for another person. We all thought it was awesome. Because I had seen it before, I was a tiny dissappointed in a few of the scenes but understood why they were that way because of the stage set-up (getting to the basement of the Opera House & Masquerade). But I think this is the first time that I had goosebumps at the very end. I always get teary eyed, but never had goosebumps. Well done!

Going back as soon as possible
by RachaelMarie on 1/15/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5Best Phantom ever. It was breathtaking and lovely to watch unfold. I'll most likely see it 3 times...the staging was revolutionary. Only one thing off, I missed the British accents from previous plays I have seen live.

Phantom was awesome!!!
by THEDON1234 on 1/15/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed the performance. I have seen Phantom of the Opera several times before, but this was my girlfriend's first time. The performers, the scenery, the pyrotechnics were all amazing!!! This production added some scenes that I did not remember from previous performances. I give this play a five star rating!!!
Underwhelmed
by secretsin on 1/15/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5We consider ourselves huge Phantom fans and cannot believe that Andrew Lloyd Webber could've approved of the changes that have been made to the production. The show is okay but is nothing compared to the original and if this was your first time seeing it I think you would've been confused on a lot of things. The performers' voices were impeccable and we were particularly impressed by the actress who played Christine but I think that you will begin to hear many complaints from hardcore fans that you never should've fixed something that wasn't broken - sorry....

The performance was excellent!! I would absolutely recommend this production, job we'll done by all cast members.
The Phantom was Spine Chilling
by mbh59 on 1/14/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5The music from Phantom of the Opera is beautiful enough by itself to not even need acting, but the amazing stage sets blew my mind. Hearing the music live and at such loud volumes always sends chills down my spine.

the performance was magnificent. would definitely recommend seeing this show
Fantastic
by Cptam on 1/14/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5The opera was fantastic. The singing was great, special effects were wonderful, and the acting was splendid. The actor who played the Phantom did have a tendency to to make sure he pronounced his 'Ts' and hard 'Cs' though. The costumes were well done and not over the top as I saw in Las Vegas, very nice. The only complaint was the seating. In Dress Circle there is a balcony over head, it cut off about ten feet of the stage, and all of the chandelier. I only missed probably four minutes on the show because of it. The scenes where they are descending into the Phantom's lair. The Cadillac Theater is a magnificent place. Full of the grandeur one would expect. But when did they start allowing people to bring in LOUD snack and drinks. The crinkling of plastic is not what I want to hear.
