THE BRILLIANT ORIGINAL RETURNS "MORE SPECTACULAR THAN EVER" - Sunday Express

The Phantom is back to thrill audiences once again! Cameron Mackintosh presents a revitalized new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, which was rapturously received by London critics when it reopened in 2021. Featuring Maria Björnson's brilliant original design and based on the celebrated direction of Harold Prince, with musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne, PHANTOM will launch a new multi-year North American tour in November 2025, premiering at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago December 11, 2025 - February 1, 2026.

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is widely considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular productions in history, playing to over 160 million people in 47 territories and 195 cities in 21 languages. Andrew Lloyd Webber's romantic, haunting, and soaring score includes "The Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You," "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," "Masquerade," and the iconic title song. It tells the tale of a disfigured musical genius known only as 'The Phantom' who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerized by the talents and beauty of a young soprano, Christine, The Phantom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine's love for Raoul, The Phantom's obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy, madness, and passions collide.

  • Phantom in its new form does not disappoint

Amazing cast. Great effects and stage play. Highly recommended.

  • 1st time seeing new production!

    by Phant0m on 1/19/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing this retooled Phantom. This was also my 28th time seeing Phantom on stage. London3, Toronto2, Milwaukee2, Appleton1, Peoria1, San Francisco3, Las Vegas3 and Chicago13. The libretto has not changed in this new production. What has changed is the set design, dancing and magical effects. I wouldn't say these are improvements, but lateral moves. They are no better or worse, just a pleasing change. My guess is the new set designer would not mind that impression. The origional opening with the chandelier laying on the stage under a burlap cover was a better effect than this new productions take. The origional productions ending with the Phantom disappearing into a chair was terrific theatrical magic. Although completely different, this newer versions ending has just as much Wow! factor. BRING BACK Las Vegas PRODUCTION!

This event was terrible and specially the service purchasing the seats. Ticket master told me that they didn't have any tickets left and put me all the way up. There was a lot of empty seats and we where located all the way back. The opra was nice but the seats made it difficult to see and enjoy our experience there. All because they couldn't sale closer seats to customers that purchase ticket all of the times with ticket master.

  • Loved it!

Very talented actors and production crew. This interpretation was very much like the movie with Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum. I was so impressed with the talent of everyone involved with the production. You will not be disappointed.

Cooper Gordian gave a magnificent performance stepping in for Mark Campbell, very impressed with Coopers talent and would recommend seeing him perform regardless of the role......we could not be more pleased and would not hesitate to recommend seeing the play with Cooper Gordian performing the leading role.

  • The Phantom was everything I thought it would be!

    by misronat3 on 1/17/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The Phantom was absolutely wonderful! My Granddaughter and her boyfriend came with me and they loved it too! I was surprised there was an intermission, as I thought it was going to last 90 min. There was 90 min. BEFORE the intermission, so the length of the show only added to it. The staging was great. Loved it!

We went as a group of friends and family. The teenagers are fans of the Phantom. Have watched the movies at least 100 times. The play was well done. The props were amazing. Singing was spectacular. Actors knew their roles and played their parts to the character extremely satisfactory. Any Phantom fans must see the play.

  • Disappointed

    by littleg15 on 1/17/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

Sound let it down, Orchestra was too loud in some of the quieter moments which made hearing speech and vocals difficult. Vocals were also harsh in the louder songs

  • by Anonymous on 1/17/14Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Great play...highly recommend this play. Singing was super by all actors. The twist and turns of the play made it exciting.
