THE BRILLIANT ORIGINAL RETURNS "MORE SPECTACULAR THAN EVER" - Sunday Express
The Phantom is back to thrill audiences once again! Cameron Mackintosh presents a revitalized new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, which was rapturously received by London critics when it reopened in 2021. Featuring Maria Björnson's brilliant original design and based on the celebrated direction of Harold Prince, with musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne, PHANTOM will launch a new multi-year North American tour in November 2025, premiering at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago December 11, 2025 - February 1, 2026.
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is widely considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular productions in history, playing to over 160 million people in 47 territories and 195 cities in 21 languages. Andrew Lloyd Webber's romantic, haunting, and soaring score includes "The Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You," "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," "Masquerade," and the iconic title song. It tells the tale of a disfigured musical genius known only as 'The Phantom' who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerized by the talents and beauty of a young soprano, Christine, The Phantom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine's love for Raoul, The Phantom's obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy, madness, and passions collide.
Produced by CAMERON MACKINTOSH with THE REALLY USEFUL GROUP
The cast did a marvelous job! The music was amazing. I would definitely recommend this play to anyone.
My husband and I saw it 3 days ago and the songs are still in our heads. I even hear them in my dreams. I have been wanting to see this for years and I finally did, without one disappointment. Unforgettable!
The costumes and scenery were spectacular. The singing was not understandable when they sang together so it was hard to understand the scene. For a person not familiar with the play I was confused the first 15 minutes and the last 15 minutes. From what I understood, I think I would have liked the story. If you do know the story, then the costumes and scenery would be worth seeing for you.
Cooper Grodin's Phantom was outstanding. Julia Udine's Christine was great. supporting cast worked perfectly together. sets worked perfectly. I am a Phantom fan. have seen the first production many times. given the size of the stage, I thought it was a grand production. I wanted to introduce my ten year old son to theatre and this was a perfect choice. Recommend this production to all without reservation.
the music was superb, the scenery wonderful, before we knew it, intermission had arrived and 1 and 1/2 hours had flown by. Cadillac Palace was beautiful. sound was perfect
Was a great play. 1st was it in Toronto 23yrs ago. This was just as good
Have seen phantom 3 times through the years. This was a bit darker side of the phantom himself. Christine's voice was as good as I have heard. However the Phantom's voice was weak. I had tickets in the dress circle, third row and was not able to see some of the top of the set, which did detract from the overall effect of the play.
Overall production was what I would expect from a Broadway show, but set did not permit us to see anything staged at the upper levels. I do not recommend sitting in dress circle for this particular performance. Our location also diminished the sound quality of the performance, due to a ceiling being directly above us. The cast did an amazing job, especially the main characters, voice of Christine was beautiful.
Amazing voices! decorations were changing so smoothly. I keep singing all the songs in my head for 3 days now:)
I have seen Phantom about 9 times. I never tire of it. This new version is good because it shortened a few scenes that previous ran a bit long, such as the showing of Don Juan Triumphant and Christina's talk with her father at the cemetery. The Phantom was in excellent voice and Christine was more aggressive. I preferred the original ending where the Phantom sits in a chair and when his cloak is pulled away all you see is his mask sitting on the chair and the spotlight hits it. Although, in this new version the young ballerina picking up the mask from among the crumpled cloak was not bad.
From start to finish we were entranced! We left wishing it was not over yet and talking about wanting to return to see it again. The theatre was a wonderful venue for the show. We discussed the fact that there are no bad seats on the Cadillac theatre. We highly recommend Phantom to all.
This show was so amazing! We loved it! The performers did a fantastic job, and the stage was beautifully done. Definitely a show we would see again and again!!
well worth the $$ - a must see if you haven't. or see again if its been a while
The Phantom was better than I'd hoped. It was amazing!
Best acting and music ever, worth going to see! They were all so talented and sang so beautifully.
I had seen this before, but my wife hadn't, and she was very impressed. The staging was very good, and allowed multiple scene changes in short periods, and worked very well.
We saw the Phantom of the Opera in San Francisco about 20 years ago. This was just as amazing. Loved it!
Thank you for bringing this uncorgettable show!I really like the stage decoration and each actor's performances. Thank you! It is so good a show!!!
We really enjoyed this production. Seen original several years ago. Staging was awesome except for the actors blocking stage right after Masquerade, blocked the Phantom's appearance on the stage for several minutes until he moved upstage. That was a bit dissapointing.
The production was fantastic! Beautiful & enchanting! I loved it! Would see it again & again!!!
