THE BRILLIANT ORIGINAL RETURNS "MORE SPECTACULAR THAN EVER" - Sunday Express
The Phantom is back to thrill audiences once again! Cameron Mackintosh presents a revitalized new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, which was rapturously received by London critics when it reopened in 2021. Featuring Maria Björnson's brilliant original design and based on the celebrated direction of Harold Prince, with musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne, PHANTOM will launch a new multi-year North American tour in November 2025, premiering at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago December 11, 2025 - February 1, 2026.
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is widely considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular productions in history, playing to over 160 million people in 47 territories and 195 cities in 21 languages. Andrew Lloyd Webber's romantic, haunting, and soaring score includes "The Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You," "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," "Masquerade," and the iconic title song. It tells the tale of a disfigured musical genius known only as 'The Phantom' who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerized by the talents and beauty of a young soprano, Christine, The Phantom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine's love for Raoul, The Phantom's obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy, madness, and passions collide.
Produced by CAMERON MACKINTOSH with THE REALLY USEFUL GROUP
Amazing production! The acting. dancing, singing, story are all beautiful.
The singing was very good. I have seen phantom a few times. This new incarnation had points that are better than the original, but some that are woefully lacking. One of my favorite and awe inspiring moments is when the phantom first takes Christine in the boat. Candles would rise from the smoke filled stage as the boat winds its way between them. In this version, only light beams shine up, as the boat moves from one side of the stage to the other. Very disappointing. It is like seeing the phantom of the opera "light" version. Too bad for the actors that the sets aren't of the same quality as their acting/singing. Still entertaining tho, but I walked away slightly disappointed.
Phantom of the Opera is my favorite, but this was my single favorite performance. My husband took me for my birthday and I will never forget what a spellbinding evening we had. The Cadillac Palace is gorgeous (I've never been before), and as far as I was concerned the rest rooms were not tiny like at some places. The seats we had (row p seats 110 and 109) were perfect. My only complaint would be that the gentleman that sat directly in front of me was very tall and I'm very short so I had to continually look on either side of his head, that was not in any way the fault of the Palace. He was just very tall lol. Also it did not interfere with my ability to thoroughly enjoy the show.
Do not miss the opportunity to see this broadway hit! Even if you've seen it in the past you'll want to see it again! Outstanding performance!
It was a wonderful production of Phantom of the Opera! Well done and very enjoyable!! Loved it!
This was the first time I had seen Phantom. While the story was interesting, the production was amazing. The performers, music, lighting, and special effects were all fantastic. Highly recommended!
The cast is perfect! Julia Udine (Christine) is the whole package; singer, actress and trained in ballet, which make her movements fluid and beautiful. Cooper Grodin (Phantom) is Christine's often half. Together they generate heat and incredible passion. Which was a huge surprise, as I never felt that with and any other pairing. The entire ensemble works so well which results in a very gratifying and enjoyable performance.
Love Phantom of the Opera. The music is unforgettable.
new production was a great entertainment. loved it
The Phantom of the Opera is an amazing show no matter what, even when it feels like they're rushing to get to the end. The music is still great and the performers seemed to be doing their best but the pacing of this production was too fast. The only time things slowed down at all was for the love ballad and the tempo for that was still faster then prior productions, including the anniversary show taped at The Royal Albert Hall. The sets, costumes and effects were spectular.
AMAZING voices and cool tech made it an excellent performance! a must see!
Simply an amazing show, enticing every minute. I would recommend to everyone.
I've never seen the live version of phantom, but I have always loved it. The live show did not disappoint. The venue was beautiful as well. The cast was fantastic, especially the phantom. The show was really moving. I'd highly recommend it.
The singing was wonderful and as good as I have seen for Phantom. I have seen this play at least 6 times and the singing was great. But, the scenery and costumes were much to be desired, and the parts that were taken out or shortened should have been in the play. If one did not know the story then you would not know that the people in the beginning of the play at the auction were the same as in the end of the play. There was nothing to tie it together. It needed more flair!
wow this show was really great - the performances, staging, all amazing - we absolutely loved it :-)
Took my wife, son and daughter in law. My wife and I saw it in London, but my son and his wife had not seen it. She loves the movie and has wanted to see the play. The play was fantastic, almost as good as London.
First of all, being at the Cadillac Palace is a special experience in itself. Such a gorgeous theatre. I took my two daughters (ages 18 & 19) and my mom and we all loved it! We had awesome seats (3rd row center), and felt it was a wonderful experience. I would go again!
Having seen the POTO some years ago, I was surprised at the stage effects. There were a lot of students in the audience and they seemed intent on the production, but it seemed a little over the top. The storyline seemed to be explained better and the music was incredible!
I thought it was a good show good actors It was a good time watching this
The production was wonderful. The venue is great, not a bad seat in the house. We even got a deal on parking right around the corner on the Broadway in Chicago website.
