THE BRILLIANT ORIGINAL RETURNS "MORE SPECTACULAR THAN EVER" - Sunday Express
The Phantom is back to thrill audiences once again! Cameron Mackintosh presents a revitalized new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, which was rapturously received by London critics when it reopened in 2021. Featuring Maria Björnson's brilliant original design and based on the celebrated direction of Harold Prince, with musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne, PHANTOM will launch a new multi-year North American tour in November 2025, premiering at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago December 11, 2025 - February 1, 2026.
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is widely considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular productions in history, playing to over 160 million people in 47 territories and 195 cities in 21 languages. Andrew Lloyd Webber's romantic, haunting, and soaring score includes "The Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You," "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," "Masquerade," and the iconic title song. It tells the tale of a disfigured musical genius known only as 'The Phantom' who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerized by the talents and beauty of a young soprano, Christine, The Phantom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine's love for Raoul, The Phantom's obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy, madness, and passions collide.
Produced by CAMERON MACKINTOSH with THE REALLY USEFUL GROUP
Very nice...They did a nice job with the small size stage..and the story moved along well.
There have been some changes in presentation......some of which I liked and some I was not so fond of..........All good singers........Ending was clever.......All in all an enjoyable afternoon.......
This was a great play! A wonderful performance at a beautiful theater!
Even for the die hard of fans like me who will retain the original production as the Ultimate Phantom Experience, this new production is a wonderful tribute to the original and breaths new life into the show. I often feel sorry for anyone who has not seen the original production and or retains that horrible movie as their first experience of this wonderful show, but this show is nothing short of well done and amazing. A perfect way to give the new Millennials a phantastic view of what stays true to the original story and vibrant lush sweeping music. This new production will both please and satisfy the new and seasoned audience viewer, if you open your heart to it. I must admit though, the new 'Masquerade' scene falls short of the original production, but other than that, the whole show comes together perfectly.
PHANTOM OF THE OPERA WAS AWESOME- GREAT MUSIC. AWESOME SET
From costumes, to venue, to music to the falling chandelier- all I can say is Outstanding! Bravo!!
The actor ( Cooper Grodin) who played the phantom did an amazing job with expressing the emotion as well as with the singing!! The rest of the cast did a great job as well, but I was disappointed in the way Raoul's character was portrayed. He showed little to no warmth towards Christine. Seemed to be yelling, distant, and showed no love. Outside of that, it was amazing!!!
the music, singing, and dancing were all tremendous; however, I found the "plot" to be fragmented as the scenes jump from the story of the opera-house itself and the story of the relationship between the phantom and everyone else. In several ways it seemed, thus, discontinuous.
Phantom of the Opera is my favorite musical show. This was my second time seeing the show. I had previously seen the show on Broadway in New York City. To be honest, I felt that the Broadway cast was distinctly superior. However, the set design of this show was just as good if not better/ more unique. Furthermore, I felt that the minor changes made to the show from the original did not detract at all from the first-time experience of those who had not already seen the show. As usual the show as immensely enjoyable though I felt the crowd could have been a little more inviting and raucous during the appropriate times. Nonetheless, I was glad I went to the see the show again with my friends.
Singing was outstanding by both male and female leads.
Phantom of the Opera was extraordinary! It was the first time that my family and I were able to see the show in person. The actors were phenomenal! The voices were absolutely drop dead gorgeous!
This is the third time I have seen Phantom over the years. This production was superb. I've always enjoyed it, but the sets and costuming were stunning in this production. I wish I could see it again.
The play is amazing as well as the venue!!! Music, actors, voices, decorations, costumes - everything was just perfect!
Done beautifully! Vocal performances were top rate!
What a disaster. This new staging should be junked. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. No passion anywhere to be found. Lots of yelling instead of singing. The romance is gone. We almost left early but decided to see the full car crash.
I LOVE it! The cast is breath-taking! And the music made me cry, always... very memorable.
Was a good production of Phantom of the Opera, the stage was much smaller than other productions I'd seen done of it but overall it was a good performance. Raoul over acted a little bit but the rest of the major cast members were very good.
I've seen the Phantom 8 times before including London, NY, Chicago, Vegas - this was by far the worst. The stage setting is a good part of it, there are many deviations from the original that are significant. It would be a shame for anyone seeing the Phantom for the 1st time to see this one.
Great show. Well-done all around. Excellent venue.
It was great! The actor and actresses did a fabulous job The set was quite exquisite. Great job by all
