THE BRILLIANT ORIGINAL RETURNS "MORE SPECTACULAR THAN EVER" - Sunday Express

The Phantom is back to thrill audiences once again! Cameron Mackintosh presents a revitalized new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, which was rapturously received by London critics when it reopened in 2021. Featuring Maria Björnson's brilliant original design and based on the celebrated direction of Harold Prince, with musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne, PHANTOM will launch a new multi-year North American tour in November 2025, premiering at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago December 11, 2025 - February 1, 2026.

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is widely considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular productions in history, playing to over 160 million people in 47 territories and 195 cities in 21 languages. Andrew Lloyd Webber's romantic, haunting, and soaring score includes "The Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You," "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," "Masquerade," and the iconic title song. It tells the tale of a disfigured musical genius known only as 'The Phantom' who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerized by the talents and beauty of a young soprano, Christine, The Phantom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine's love for Raoul, The Phantom's obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy, madness, and passions collide.

  • Great production of Phantom of the Opera

    by KatMom2 on 1/6/20Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

We brought our 9 and 10 year old children to the performance. Everyone loved the performers, set and music. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is I thought the sound system was very loud at times and overshadowed some of the singers.

  • The BEST!

by Patrick on 1/6/20Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Great scenery pieces and outstanding individual performances... 3rd time seeing this over the years... this was the BEST!

  • Awesome

    by Danny B on 1/6/20Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

This is my 2nd time seeing Phantom and we flew for 6 hours to see this one. Derrick Davis was amazing as The Phantom. We were in the 3rd row and coukd see the raw emotion on his face. The look in his eyes in some scenes was chilling. He doesnt just play the Phantom, for those couple of hours he IS the Phantom. Its a shame the tour is coming to a close in a few weeks. Hopefully Derrick will get a chance to live the role again on Broadway someday. If he does, we will be there.

  • Awesome experience

Great singing, great acting, great theater. The place was beautiful. Loved how they switched scenses during the program!

  • Great new production of the play! Terrible seat location

by Ali on 1/6/20Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

Performance was 5 starts, Theatre/Ticketmaster experience was 1 star. I was very excited to see the new production of the play. My mother and I try to go every time the Phantom of the Opera comes to Chicago. We have been to the theatre several times, and have sat in different locations. This time, I chose seats that appeared to be in the center of the theatre, but with aisle seats. I was sadly mislead. When we got to our seats, I learned that I was not next to an aisle, but instead, was seated right next to the audio box. Not only did this block my view, but I also heard the audio/visual crew talking throughout much of the performance. The show was great, but I would love to have known the experience I would have had at the theatre/seating chart as I would have saved a lot of money with better seats. Very poor experience.

  • Good staging

by Farwalker on 1/5/20Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

The staging was very good. The chandelier was well done. The plot was disappointing to this modern play watcher. Plot development was OK but almost no character development or character growth. I had read a lot before I went so knew about background. If I didn't I would have been more lost. Overall, it was enjoyable, but not a play I will see again soon.

  • Amazing performance

by Sean on 1/5/20Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing performance!! Great casting. My wife and I saw for the 2nd time, but our kids for the first. They loved it, and my wife and I enjoyed just as much as we did the first time. Highly recommend!!

  • Awesome!!!

    by A Turner on 1/5/20Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The event was a full house however getting in ran very smoothly and there were absolutely no lines. I love coming to the Cadillac Palace and everything about it.

  • A good evening

by Annie on 1/5/20Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

The set, effects and singers did a great job in this performance. I was disappointed in the lack of live musicians - so many parts covered by keyboards. Certainly needed a live percussionist at least as these sounds were very fake. The seats seemed great until someone sat in front of us and I had to keep moving to be able to see the stage, never seeing the whole thing at one time.

  • Fairly amateurish

by Broadway family on 1/5/20Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 2 out of 5

I was surprised at the overall amateurish feeling of this production. Everyone was out of sync and the pit was too loud. Sound quality in general was poor for a Broadway in Chicago production. Raoul and Christine were an par. We saw the primary Christine. That’s the best you can do? Raoul was even more awful. The Phantom was excellent in this production

  • Phenomenal

  • FANTASTIC

by Rachel on 1/5/20Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

This was my 5th time seeing Phantom and it was just as good as the original production. Singing was amazing, and the moving set was super creative. Go see it!!

  • Awesome show, obstructed view

    by Kf15 on 1/5/20Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Overall, we really enjoyed the production. We were seated in the dress circle and specifically picked seats that WEREN'T labeled as "limited" or "obstructed" view. However, the balcony overhang prevented us from being able to see anything going on at the top of the sets or majority of the chandelier. Very disappointed in paying the regular price for the view to still be obstructed.

  • Loved the show

by Big Mama on 1/5/20Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

The theater is gorgeous and the show was amazing. Wish I had known I was headed up 5 flights of stairs into a seat that my 130lb daughter fit snuggly into. I definitely think that the pain I felt during the show took away from the whole experience, but my weight is my problem, just beware if you are over a size 10 you are going to be wedged in a bit. I didn’t find anything wrong with the venue other than that. Coat check was only $1 and I LOVED the enthusiasm of the ushers and such.

  • Amazing!!

  • Lovely time

by RG on 1/3/20Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Although , I was very disappointed when I came back from the restroom to find they wouldn’t let me back into the theatre , so I missed a big scene ..I was taken back by this , but soon forgot about it after I was finally let back in ( 20 mins later ! ! )

  • Music of the Night

by Peanut on 1/3/20Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

My fourth time seeing Phantom of the Opera was just as riveting as the first time in the mid 80’s. The music of Andrew Lloyd Weber seduces you and draws you into the Opera House like no other music can. This performance uses special effects nonexistent in the earlier musicals. The story of the disfigured Phantom’s unrequited love of opera diva Christine Daae is mesmerizing. You will find the music stuck in your mind for days afterward.

  • Disappointing and cheap

by Pfan on 1/3/20Rating: 2 out of 5

This touring version of the Phantom of the Opera is NOT the original Broadway version of the play! This production lacks the beautiful sets, costumes, drama, and mystery of the original production! I have seen Phantom 6 times before in Chicago and 2 times at the Venetian in Las Vegas and this is not the same show! All of the best parts of this play have been changed! The drama of Christine pulling off the Phantom's mask in Act 1 has been eliminated and the so has the grand staircase scene of Masquerade in the second half. Gone are the rising chandeliers in the Phantom's boat scenes, the dramatic balcony scene and dancers in Point of No Return, and the Phantom's chair escape. This is a cheaper version on the play and is more like a local theater production. The music is good but the rest of the show is disappointing. The pyrotechnics at the end of the show don't make up for everything that is eliminated in the original production. Save your money and rent the 2004 Phantom of the Opera movie with Gerard Butler as the Phantom instead!

  • My Favorite of all times.

by Linda on 1/3/20Cadillac Palace - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The music was so beautiful and so moving. The actors were phenomenal. I didn’t want the show to end.
