The Lonely Island on Tour
Though The Lonely Island exploded into pop culture in 2005, it took the music and comedy trio 14 years — plus seven Saturday Night Live seasons, three uproarious LPs, and two movies — to get around to touring. Chalk that up to the successful careers of actor-writer-producers Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone, who have as a group been nominated for multiple Grammys, an Oscar, and a Creative Arts Emmy (which they won).
They earned all that by writing and performing such absurd yet undeniable rap anthems as "Dick in a Box" (featuring Justin Timberlake), "Lazy Sunday" (about going to see a Chronicles of Narnia movie), and "I Just Had Sex," in which autotune hook-master Akon coos those titular words with believable enthusiasm.
That they hadn't previously taken that act on the road is equally silly when you consider their talent and chemistry, honed over decades of friendship and collaborative work, not to mention their love of performance, props, ridiculous outfits, and surprising guest cameos. To wit, a 2018 warm-up show featured Michael Bolton in a pirate hat, singing along to "Jack Sparrow."
The Lonely Island Background
Friends since their junior high days in Berkeley, California, the three men who make up The Lonely Island moved into a cheap Los Angeles apartment in 2000 with plans to work in film. Between dead-end gigs, they managed to become pioneers in sharing comedic video shorts online and stumbled upon their true gift while recording joke rap songs with their musician roommate after-hours.
In 2005, the guys parlayed budding Internet stardom into a writing gig for the MTV Movie Awards and, as a result, a role on SNL where they'd head up their own Digital Shorts department.
Their run on the show was legendary, expanding SNL's reach into both viral clips and radio hits, while The Lonely Island created a series of star-studded music videos and LPs — from 2009's Incredibad (featuring T-Pain, Natalie Portman, and Jack Black, among others), to 2011's Turtleneck & Chain (Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, Lady Gaga), to 2013's The Wack Album (Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar, Hugh Jackman). The Lonely Island also eventually made it to Hollywood with 2016's Judd Apatow–produced mockumentary Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, which poked fun at the music industry they unwittingly found themselves within.
This was their first tour, but I was very excited to see The Lonely Island, as I have been watching the digital shorts since they first started coming out. They put on an awesome show - I had an absolute blast - and laughed plenty, too!

Best concert I have ever been to and they didn’t even do any of the deep cuts. Out of my personal top 10 songs by TLI they only preformed one (Diaper Money) and it was still the greatest show I have even seen.
The group was phenomenal start to finish. The skits and transitions between songs kelt everything rolling so there was no delays. They played through about 20 songs and had amazing special guests!! I would def go see them again!
The show was so funny and the set they performed flowed so well. It was a show I never thought I’d be able to see and am incredibly grateful that they decided to go on tour and I could get tickets. They killed it.
The Lonely Island were amazing to see and the venue was super nice
The boys put on an aways show. Lots of videos to accompany their performance. Would definitely see them again. The fox Theater however was way to hot, have ya heard of air conditioning.
I've been waiting on a lonely island tour since incredibad so I had to jump on these tickets when I saw they were coming around. I was not disappointed in the slightest. The production, song choices, and in between skits were all well thought-out and rehearsed. It's amazing how these three could come together with their busy schedules and come out with such a top notch fan pleasing show. My face hurt from smiling after the show and it will remain in a top spots of best concerts I've ever seen!
I have been waiting for years for The Lonely Island to tour and they did not let me down. Tim Meadows opened for them which was amazing. Then we were surprised with Tim Robinson introducing The Lonely Island. Even better! The Lonely Island sounded great, their visuals were amazing and they had little skits and such between songs. They had the crowd going nuts! We laughed and sang along and it was perfect.
Awesome show and amazing theater, they need to tour again!!

The show was funny. I loved seeing my favorites being performed live. There was never a dull moment throughout the evening.

I have been a fan of the lonely island since the very begining (when I saw the lazy sunday short) and i have been waiting for a tour ever since, when I heard they were coming I had to do everything in my power to be there. It did not dissapoint. It was the most fun i have had at a concert in a very long time. Playing everything from the big hits to some deep cuts and even some off the bash brothers. Mixed in with new skits and a running joke that spans the whole show, i would see this or any other tour they would do again in a heartbeat.
Overall pretty good, started off kinda slow didn't really know when it was going to start, and then when it did get going and you thought it was starting you still waited another 15min-20mins before it actually started
These guys are amazing entertainers. There was constantly something going on that left the whole crowd laughing hysterically. One of the best shows I've been too. Really hope they tour again!
Best concert I've been to! Awesome venue and the Lonely Island has such wonderful stage presence. A great combination of humor and music!
It was a lot of fun and an amazing experience! The Lonely Island really know how to show everyone a great time. Being a huge fan of theirs my only qualm would be that I had no idea there even was a meet-&-great after their show and I could not find any information about how to get these VIP tickets online or else I would have gotten one so I could check the number one thing off of my bucket list. Other than that and wishing it were longer, they did a fantastic job. So glad I got to see my happy place perform live a few feet away from me!
