About

The Disco Biscuits rose to prominence in the ‘90s by pioneering their own genre: “trancefusion,” which bridges the gap between electronic music and Frank Zappa-influenced jam bands. The quartet of Jon "The Barber" Gutwillig (guitar), Marc Brownstein (bass), Sam Altman (drummer, later replaced by Allen Aucoin) and Aron Magner (keys) met on the University of Pennsylvania campus in 1995. One year later, they released their debut album Encephalous Crime. The highly-danceable jam band transitioned from playing frat parties to touring in support of everyone from The Black Crowes to the Jerry Garcia Band. Over the years, The Disco Biscuits have released multiple experimental albums and EPs, and curated the annual Camp Bisco electronic music festival. In July 2023, they embarked on their first West Coast tour in nearly 14 years.

by dfghjadg on 1/3/13Best Buy Theater - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

My first Disco Biscuits show, and absolutely unforgettable. Craziest night of my life hands down. The visuals were amazing, the music was great, and the people were absolutely wonderful. Met some awesome friends.

  • Best biscuits show thus far!!!!

by Showhead69 on 1/2/13The Theater at Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing, they killed it and the event was great too drinks were ways to pricey but the show was great. I feel bad for the people that had to clean up though!

  • Biscuits are back, baby!

by Dribblehead on 1/2/13The Theater at Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Okay so I never normally do a review. But the disco biscuits killed it this New Year's Eve! God, they just killed it all week. And trust its been awhile, atleast since 09'. Really proud of them! I wouldn't have spent my new year any other way. DBF.

The bar closed at 2:15...this is NYC on New Years Eve, I was highly surprised and annoyed. The music was excellent by the band, however there should have been more "surround" speakers. Finally, they should have had someone, anyone playing during intermission instead of nothing at all. Overall, the disco biscuits played an amazing 3 set, venue was not so great though, never going back there.

  • amazing

by Olto on 1/2/13The Theater at Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Title says it all. What an on point show from all four members. Plus, the medley countdown. Please play the big stage at the Garden next!

light show was amazing, it was so cool, the music was okay, opener shouldve been better

  • no, show did not rock!

by Beezums on 1/2/13The Theater at Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 1 out of 5

saw this group at BestBuy Theatre the week earlier and it was fantabulous. BUT, at MSG it was pitiful - they must have been tired; they are not good enough to play individual guitar for starters. The laser light show was disgusting - as if everyone was to be blinded.

  • Amazing second set

by Corrinaso on 12/30/12Best Buy Theater - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The whole show was an absolutely amazing experience. Although the first set had a few classics in it the jams were kind of uninspiring and They weren't really on the same page. Luckily after they went Into bombs things really picked up. The second set was full of sick jams like the astronaut the Shelby>city>Shelby and the morph, Really unforgettable night in the big city can't Wait for camp.

  • by Anonymous on 12/30/12Best Buy Theater - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Second Set was fantastic! The show was not too crowded either.

  • Doo doo

by Cdonne on 12/30/12Best Buy Theater - New YorkRating: 1 out of 5

The band sounded like they just met and started playing a bunch of notes awfully. Barber looked like he didn't want to be there. Overall it was garbage. I left before set break.

  • Not cool

by Jacob151279 on 12/29/12B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

The headline didnt go on til about 345am on a Friday morning. This basically makes the show not an option for any responsible adults who actually go to work in the morning. Headlines should go first or second on a late night show - not 5th after 4 no name DJs. People were chanting "Ott, Ott, Ott" because no one cared about the others. Alot of people left before Ott came on simply because it got too late on a weeknight. Cater to the customers, not to the no name DJs.

the boys brought the heat both nights and they even seemed to have practiced before hand!

  • by Anonymous on 10/8/12The Mann Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

This weekend at the Mann Music Center was perfect! The musical experience and production was amazing and this should be a staple event in Philadelphia every year going forward!

  • Biscuits Blew it up

by Sankanow on 10/7/12The Mann Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

I haven't seen these guys in quite a while. I have to say these two nights were totally magical. The bands energy was just flowing through the entire venue. The people working at the Mann were so kind and welcoming. Everything just flowed effortlessly. Hopefully this event will take place again next year. Thank You so much for everyone involved that made this event possible. Kevin
