About

The Disco Biscuits rose to prominence in the ‘90s by pioneering their own genre: “trancefusion,” which bridges the gap between electronic music and Frank Zappa-influenced jam bands. The quartet of Jon "The Barber" Gutwillig (guitar), Marc Brownstein (bass), Sam Altman (drummer, later replaced by Allen Aucoin) and Aron Magner (keys) met on the University of Pennsylvania campus in 1995. One year later, they released their debut album Encephalous Crime. The highly-danceable jam band transitioned from playing frat parties to touring in support of everyone from The Black Crowes to the Jerry Garcia Band. Over the years, The Disco Biscuits have released multiple experimental albums and EPs, and curated the annual Camp Bisco electronic music festival. In July 2023, they embarked on their first West Coast tour in nearly 14 years.

  • Disco Biscuits were disappointing

by spychick on 7/13/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 3 out of 5

I was expecting to have a fabulous time and I did but despite Disco Biscuits not because of them. The opening bands were so much fun and kept the energy high. Paul Oakenfold made my body move and made my night a hit but then Disco Biscuits came on and the energy dropped to below sea level. It was strange they sounded good but it was like they just never took off.

  • One of the best show's I've ever been to!

  • Respect for DB

I would like to compliment the Disco BIscuits on a show of a lifetime. They have raised the bar for live RR performances.

  • Disco Biscuits...meh

by addicted on 7/13/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 3 out of 5

Disco Biscuits are pretty lame. I went to see Paul Oakenfold and RJD2 which were pretty good but still not great the highlight was definitely the venue. RED ROCKS RULEZ!

  • Burn Baby Burn!!

by JMcGeezax on 7/13/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

The Disco Biscuits put on a hell of a show. The opening bands were fantastic (especially the New Deal.) The lights and performers really added a lot to the show. But they played a killer set, and I'm proud of them to be the first band to play that late at Red Rocks. And it's awesome to say that I was there. They killed it. Can't wait for a reprise next year.

  • woulda been better without oakenfold

by flowatop on 7/13/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

bisco played great first and second set, oakenfold was a little trancy, and too techno for me, but lotus put on a great show and z trip and rjd2 both got to tear it up for a little. i REALLY enjoyed the downtempo beats thrown down by z-trip.

  • bisco inferno 2009

by tjjjj on 7/13/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

  • bisco inferno

I've seen disco biscuits a number of times, and this was definitely my favorite show I've seen so far. They played well and Red Rocks is always fun, with some fun other bands opening for them - Lotus, Ztrip etc. And Alex B. spinning on a bus in the lots before hand, it was super fun!!

    by Cdinkler85 on 7/13/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

The show was sick, RJD2 and Z-Trip were amazing as always and lotus killed it. Disco put on an amazing first set and New Deal was also amazing. The dance show with the glowing people was one of the craziest i have ever seen. Red Rocks to the fullest. Only complaint was Oakenfold, 15 minutes i can handle, an hour i can not.

  • tBD rocked!
