About

The Disco Biscuits rose to prominence in the ‘90s by pioneering their own genre: “trancefusion,” which bridges the gap between electronic music and Frank Zappa-influenced jam bands. The quartet of Jon "The Barber" Gutwillig (guitar), Marc Brownstein (bass), Sam Altman (drummer, later replaced by Allen Aucoin) and Aron Magner (keys) met on the University of Pennsylvania campus in 1995. One year later, they released their debut album Encephalous Crime. The highly-danceable jam band transitioned from playing frat parties to touring in support of everyone from The Black Crowes to the Jerry Garcia Band. Over the years, The Disco Biscuits have released multiple experimental albums and EPs, and curated the annual Camp Bisco electronic music festival. In July 2023, they embarked on their first West Coast tour in nearly 14 years.

I had a great time at The Disco Biscuits show as I generally do. Always gets a little rowdy which can be difficult at times, but it is all in good fun.

  • Awesome Show

    by Timdawg622 on 10/1/14the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

This was their final night in Philly and they did not disappoint. The music was so good; they made it impossible to stay in your seat. The show started at 6:00 and went almost to midnight, sick. The Biscuits played 3 high energy sets. These were separated by an hour of some of the best spun disco music I’ve heard since the day’s I hung at the Second Story and Palladium. The plan was to dance during the Biscuits sets and chill during the breaks but that didn’t happen. The music being played by the DJ’s was so hot there was no rest for the weary. I see about 30 shows a year and this was one of the best I’ve been to. Great music, awesome crowd, dancing all night long…priceless.

The Disco Biscuits continued to play better and better as the weekend went on. Set lists were solid and they got tighter as they went on. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to go down and see them and share the weekend with great people and music.

While not a huge Disco Biscuits fan, I came away happy with the show. Crowd was super into it and we had a great spot in the 21 and up area. Will go again if they come back.

Overall this was a very good show. They continued to tighten things up and made me smile. The venue was packed , but there were some good spots to be found with enough dancing room. I was surrounded by friends and saw many others throughout the night. Would like to thank the Biscuits for another great show.

  • Biscuits killed it

by Romo710 on 1/3/14The Theater at Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

I like the theater of MSG better than the large arena because it is more intimate and you are able to move around wherever you want. The large arena is amazing but more strict. The band played amazingly and I can't think of a better way to bring in the new year. I do have a couple complaints, the drinks were $11 for a tiny little cup and once you get back to your seat there are no cup holders like there are upstairs. Seeing how we were at a concert I would go and buy two drinks at a time so I wouldn't have to miss more of the show and would put one under my seat till I was ready to drink it and when I went to drink it it would be spilled over. That happened to me and all my friends which is a huge waste of money not to mention we were dancing in a puddle the whole time from our drinks and the row above us's drinks. Other than that it was great, the bathrooms were always clean and the music sounded amazing
