that was one of the best shows ive ever been to. the first band was pretty good but as soon as Cat empire came on stage the place got wild. i was so damn excited i was giddy like a little school girl between Harry wailing on the trumpet right in front of me and Felix jamming on the steel drums. But the huge solos with Jumps while Harry scats was amazing and Ollie's jamming on the key board blew my mind. the best part of the show was the when Harry Ross and Kieran were all on the center mic taking turns soloing.

About
The Cat Empire is a genre-defying ensemble that formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 1999. Blending ska, jazz, rocksteady, and hip-hop, the six-piece produces a wildly eclectic sound and live show that has toured worldwide, from major festivals like Glastonbury to making buzzworthy appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The Cat Empire has produced multiple No. 1 albums in Australia, including Two Shoes (2005) and Rising with the Sun (2016). After announcing their decision to disband in 2021, a refreshed lineup was announced in July 2023 led by original members Ollie McGill and Felix Riebl with the additions of Grace Barbé on bass, Daniel Farrugia on drums, Neda Rahmani on percussion and Lazaro Numa on trumpet. On August 25, The Cat Empire released their ninth studio album, Where The Angels Fall, with a supporting world tour scheduled for the fall.

Don't miss them if you can see them
by matma07 on 3/24/12Royale Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5It was great, lot of fun, full of energy, friendly. It made us dance from the begining to the end. The brass ensemble was amazing. You can defenitly go, eyes closed and hears wide oppened. Lot of pleasure listening at them before the concert. It's even better know when I remember the show.
The Cat Empire, a review of good humour
by Ninany on 3/24/12Royale Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5Joy, happiness, dance and good music... It is a good summary of what you can expect to this concert. It was intensive from the start to the end. I strongly recommend to come with light clothes: the heat climbs quickly !
The Cat Empire awesome but sound was lacking
by lampinkitty on 3/24/12Royale Boston - BostonRating: 4 out of 5The venue had really nice vibes and i LOVE the band but the sound quality wasn't the best
Amazing Cat Empire
by millka on 3/24/12Royale Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5So much energy, great stage presence, great set list. Go see them!
Awesome show, they NEED to come back to Boston!
by Crash617 on 3/24/12Royale Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5This was the best show I've been to since U2. The band has a ton of energy and creativity, and the crowd fed off it. It was nice to see so many fans who knew the music even though they are from Australia. They were also a good ska crowd. Wasn't impressed with jam band opener though, could have had something punk/ska related.

Amazing show! They dug up some REALLY old stuff and played a great mix of songs. Harry was ON POINT and really put on a performance. Will was amazing too. The whole band really had fun and the audience was totally into every song. We got to chat with Harry before the show, too, which was fun. Really nice guy. That's one of the great things about small venues like Webster Hall.

AMAZING!!!!!!! Their music has such a unique variety to it (just listen to their music and you'll know what I'm talking about), and they're so so so talented that when they jam out - and they JAM - you can't help but dance and get carried away in the music. It's unforgettable. If you haven't listened to their music before, check it out. It's fun. And then see them live. It takes their music to a whole new level.
Best show ever!
by Anonymous on 3/23/12Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5We were expecting a good show, but were blown away! Not only were these guys all unbelievably great musicians, but they obviously really enjoyed playing. We had never been to Webster before and were impressed with the sound quality. Two of us were nearly front center and two were in the back and we all could hear very well. An unexpected surprise was that the floor swayed with the dancing. Talk about an experience! It was kind of funny, but we were all tired after a long day at work. And standing there for over an hour waiting for the music to start we were not sure we really wanted to be there after all. 10 seconds into Cat Empire's opening number, we all four independently came to the conclusion that we would wait even longer to see them again in a heartbeat. Good going Webster Hall.

Incredible!! All of their music is Infinitely better live!
Amazing performace
by OilOlsen on 3/23/12Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5The cat empire rocked the house.. Really talented musicians. Jammed really well together. The crowd was feeding off the bands energy the whole time. Truly impressive.
As good live as I've read about
by Gregor714 on 3/23/12Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5It really was a fantastic show. Band was in top form. Really crisp. if this was the 1st stop on the tour, it can only get amazing. I just wish the show would have been longer. If there were more local dates or within driving distance I would go to those shows as well. Webster Hall was a great place for the show. Loud enough to feel in your chest, but not so loud my ears were ringing after. Definitely sounded better in the middle of the hall though, around the sides it was quite muddy.

Awesome Show! You really felt that every single member of the band knows and loves his instrument and music. The guys had a lot of fun on stage and so did everybody in the hall. People sang and danced and when we left we were all sweaty and happy. They're going to make a new album now, can't wait!
No Longer There
by Waistcoat on 3/23/12Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Cat Empire simply compose and perform the most poignant music that intoxacates with both sobering and upbeat messages. And, boy, do they get you moving!
ME. OW.
by wblevine on 3/23/12Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5The show was incredible, the performance and musicianship were outstanding and the energy never died. After listening to them for over 5 years, their live performance has me falling in love all over again. Boom Shak the empire be rising indeed.
Everyone I bring to see them live... LOVES IT
by irizzle on 3/23/12Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5I've seen The Cat Empire perform about 5 times (pretty much every time they come to NYC) and every time they deliver everything I love about their live shows, as well as a new twist showcasing their amazing talents. While Harry and Felix are the lead singers, their humility is contagious. They give each band member the opportunity to shine. If I could say one negative thing, it would be that I wish Harry would bring back his impressively long rap-scat bit during "In My Pocket". He would just mesmerize the audience to the point where we forget was song was playing and then BAM the beat drops and everyone starts jumping. He did it during a different song this time and it didn't have the same effect even though it was still phenomenal.
The Cat Empire were amazing!
by grshirley on 3/23/12Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5The title says it all really. Great show. Great vocals. Crowd really got into it.
AMAZING!
by NaughtyLola on 3/23/12Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5As always, The Cat Empire takes a mighty swing and knocks it out of the park. I never miss a show when they're in the Northeast, and I'm seriously considering flying out to the West coast to catch the tail-end of their tour in April. These guys are the best.
Best concert I've ever seen!
by Anonymous on 8/10/10Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Cat Empire live: extremely talented guys with remarkable chemistry who, most importantly, are clearly loving every moment of the performance.
Cat Empire is truly the best live experience
by HollyofMD on 8/4/10Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Cat Empire is a fantastic band that excells in live performances. Refreshingly they are true musicians with the ability to adapt and change and keep the concert and music new everytime you see them. We traveled from Maryland specifically to see this band and it was well worth the journey.
