About

The Cat Empire is a genre-defying ensemble that formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 1999. Blending ska, jazz, rocksteady, and hip-hop, the six-piece produces a wildly eclectic sound and live show that has toured worldwide, from major festivals like Glastonbury to making buzzworthy appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The Cat Empire has produced multiple No. 1 albums in Australia, including Two Shoes (2005) and Rising with the Sun (2016). After announcing their decision to disband in 2021, a refreshed lineup was announced in July 2023 led by original members Ollie McGill and Felix Riebl with the additions of Grace Barbé on bass, Daniel Farrugia on drums, Neda Rahmani on percussion and Lazaro Numa on trumpet. On August 25, The Cat Empire released their ninth studio album, Where The Angels Fall, with a supporting world tour scheduled for the fall.

by John on 6/20/25Neptune Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

The Cat Empire was a phenomenal concert! Their energy, stage presence, and talent were outstanding. They had a great song selection as well, some new songs, some classic favorites, all amazing. The opening band, Bermuda Search Party, was excellent as well and a great choice of opener. The Neptune Theater was a wonderful Venue for a concert. Easily accessible, intimate atmosphere, and great sound.

  • The Passion Was Fantastic

by Stormbow on 8/2/24Brooklyn Bowl - BrooklynRating: 5 out of 5

My friends words, not mine: "That was the best concert we've ever gone to."This was the first time I've ever been to a concert, ever, and boy oh boy did we have a blast. It was so fun to see how happy the entire band was to play for us all. You could tell from both the volume and the dancing and the happy faces that they really enjoyed doing what they do, and the raw energy they put out far exceeded anything online. This will be a memory I won't soon forget.
