The Cat Empire is a genre-defying ensemble that formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 1999. Blending ska, jazz, rocksteady, and hip-hop, the six-piece produces a wildly eclectic sound and live show that has toured worldwide, from major festivals like Glastonbury to making buzzworthy appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The Cat Empire has produced multiple No. 1 albums in Australia, including Two Shoes (2005) and Rising with the Sun (2016). After announcing their decision to disband in 2021, a refreshed lineup was announced in July 2023 led by original members Ollie McGill and Felix Riebl with the additions of Grace Barbé on bass, Daniel Farrugia on drums, Neda Rahmani on percussion and Lazaro Numa on trumpet. On August 25, The Cat Empire released their ninth studio album, Where The Angels Fall, with a supporting world tour scheduled for the fall.

Great crowd, great performance. Didn't stop dancing the entire time. Overall amazing experience.
I went to one of the best show ever the cat empire ´s diversity and the musicans talent is priceless i want to see some more!
The band loves performing, and its audience loves the performance. When they play their music, everyone becomes connected. Fantastic show of musicianship - each band-member has such a unique voice and they blend beautifully in concert. A mind blowing and refreshing take on genre and their cover of Hotel California gets me every time.
The show was awesome!! They played new songs and song from their albums. it was just perfect for a friday night in Montreal. The opening act was good also, une belle découverte Current swell
The Cat Empire is the best live band ever !. Third time seeing them and they are not to be missed for their energy on stage and musician ship. Really liked some of the new material so looking forward to their next album.
The Cat Empire is a phenomenal group. Each member is a master of their chosen instrument and they all come together wonderfully to create sounds I thought impossible. They instilled energy and wonder in me during the concert and created one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life.
Excellent, excellent band in a fantastic venue! The Cat Empire is a MUST SEE!
The venue-air conditioned, great lighting, clean bathrooms, and breathing room in between people even up close to the stage The opening act- I hadn't heard of "That 1 Guy" before but I can honestly say he's one of my favorite artists now. He blew my mind with his new spin on being a one man band ontop of having a great beat and sound. He was funky lol. And hilarious. Made me forget who I was there to see The cat empire- killed it of course. They played nearly every song of theirs and played for a little over two hours. They were great showmanship and all members had an equal number of solos. Great vibe from the crowd as well; everyone was dancing the entire time. Amazing show. Best I've ever been to.
This is the second time I have seen this band live and there are not enough adjectives to describe how amazing their show is. They bring everything they have to their gigs and brings the audience along for the ride. My only complaint...they don't play the USA often enough. :)
Unforgettable. One of the best concerts I've ever attenddt. Their ability to share their energy with the audience was something I had never seen before. Impressive. If they ever do this again, I would not only go, but will bring EVERYONE i know.
These guys are simply incredible! They are what live music should be all about; keeping you on your toes, never know what's coming next. "In my pocket," which is normally a medium tempo song, was turned into about a 12 minute jam session that went all over the place! It was incredible. I hate dancing, but these guys are proof that they can make ANYBODY wanna dance! Even me...You can feel their heart and energy in every single song they perform. It's just so sad they only come to LA every so often.
This was the most fun I have ever had at a concert. The Avalon in Hollywood has a fantastic sound system and the Cat Empire was at it's best. Powerful rhythms, incredible horn players, and amazing vocal performances. The crowd obviously came to dance, but I found that most of the time, they just watched the superb performance. The crowd was in a good mood and ranged from teens to a few over 60. A good time was had by all. I drove 100 miles to see this show and would have driven to San Francisco the next night if I had the time available. They don't visit the US much, so see them if you can
One of the best shows I've been to in a long time. I wish they would have played a few more of my favorites, but great show anyway.
Amazing band! They played for two hours with non-stop energy keeping the crowd pumped the entire time. I would definitely go see The Cat Empire again!!
And the open show for "that 1 guy" was super cool too
My first time seeing the Cat Empire. What a spectacular show. Such a great venue for them, too. It was a Wednesday night, so it wasn't too crowded (HOB can be insane on weekends) and we were able to get right up to the front. The band is top-notch. Vocals and music were great, seeing them live definitely adds another layer of awesome. Top 5 shows of my life for sure!
Saw the Cat Empire at House of Blues Chicago. Great band, great venue. The band sounded awesome an appeared to be having a lot of fun, which washed over the crowd. And i love the venue. We were 25 feet from the stage. Didn't look like there was a bad seat in the house.
This was the best concert I've ever been to! They did a lot of improv which was amazing. I was dancing the whole time. Overall it was so much fun.
This was the best concert that I've ever been to. The band was energetic and enthusiastic. They really go the audience pumped and engaged in the show. They played for 1.75 hours and I danced and sang the entire time. I would go again and again and again.
The Cat Empire is such a unique group to begin with and the fact they don't visit the USA too often was a factor in this review. Nonetheless, you can tell they love what they do. Their stage presence is phenomenal and they are so tight musically. The opener surprised me as well. All the performers had so much energy and the crowd reflected it equally. I'll definitely see them the next time they visit.
