  • Great show - problematic sound

by Stephen & Steve on 4/11/25DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 3 out of 5

We love ”The Book of Mormon” but we’re VERY DISAPPOINTED that despite center orchestra seats the sound design was a mess, start-to-finish. We are retired theatre professionals, so we know from what we speak — the actors’ words were consistently near-unintelligible due to either too little amplification of individual voices and/or over-amplification of the band. ESPECIALLY IN A 2,700 seat house, the sound design must be carefully calibrated — and it wasn’t here.

Great show. Great theater. Great seats. My sides still hurt from laughing so hard.

  • Amazing music and hilarious story lines

by JAC07 on 3/4/25Uihlein Hall Marcus Center - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

This is my second time seeing this show and it didn’t disappoint. It was a packed house and there was endless laughter from the audience. The lead vocals are nothing less than epic. Amazing music and hilarious storytelling. Can’t wait to see it again and again.

  • Superb!

by Tina on 2/12/25Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

We absolutely loved this show. It was brilliantly written and funny, extremely talented cast and wildly entertaining. It also had a very sweet message which we really need in this country right now. I think everyone should see it, and i hope it tours in more cities in the years ahead. I will gladly see it again!

  • Too vulgar

by LaLa on 2/10/25Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand OaksRating: 3 out of 5

Entertaining and funny but the vulgarity got to me. It turned me off and I wanted to leave before it ended. Disappointing.

  • So different than previous tour

by LA Woman on 2/10/25Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand OaksRating: 2 out of 5

Not sure why it would change so much!!! The previous tour (10+ years ago) - had me laughing so hard throughout the show. This time, I chuckled a few times. If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.

  • Fantastic as always!

by Ceis on 2/10/25Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

Big fan of The Book of Mormon. Wish this show ran longer than 3 days only at Fred Kavli. Would have seen it again if the run was longer. We were fortunate to see Sam as Elder Price again. We previously saw him at Pantages on a previous National tour. He’s dynamic and never breaks character. Invested 100%to his role. I recognized some other past actors as well. So glad to see them as well. I couldn’t place names as Fred Kavli did not provide programs which was disappointing. Highly recommend this show. Such dedication and hard work pays off. Well done to all involved!

  • Excellent and very funny!

by Enjoy on 2/9/25Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

Loved it, the performers were all talented and great. I, along with the audience laughed and applauded throughout the performance. Would see it again and I never watch anything twice. If it comes to your town don't miss it!

  • Sound mixing was off

by David on 2/9/25Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand OaksRating: 3 out of 5

The show and cast were great, but I couldn’t hear about 40% of the lyrics to songs as the instruments were way louder than the vocals in the overall mix. I thought it might have been just my position in the theater, but I noticed the entire audience missed a joke because it was inaudible in a song. I also saw previous reviews from a separate theater of this tour saying the same, so it might be a conscious choice to have the vocals low in the mix.

  • hard to hear

by touringtoni on 2/8/25Terrace Theater - Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center - Long BeachRating: 4 out of 5

Book of Mormon was a good show, music was entertaining, the actors were very good. However, it was extremely hard to make out their words both dialogue and singing so many of the jokes were missed. Words seemed to run together. Part of the difficulty I believe were the acoustics in the theater, Long Beach Terrace Theater. I will not attend a performance there again. There is NO signage whatsoever directing patrons to the entrance and as the front of the theater has a large water feature it is necessary to choose, right or left to get in. Many chose right, but the entrance is left so one has to walk all the way back around the water feature to get in. Once in there is NO signage whatsoever directing one to which side of the theater to enter for your seat so if you choose wrong you must go all the way around again. Very poor welcome to the theater., especially for seniors or people with disabilities - way too much extra walking.

  • Phenomenal

by jcm231 on 2/8/25Terrace Theater - Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center - Long BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Within five minutes I was saying to myself, “this is the best thing I’ve ever seen.” During intermission I was texting my friends and family how phenomenal it was. Then I was looking up when and where it was playing next so I could take my daughter to see it.

  • Ding-Dong... Hello! Wha?

by Theatre Buzz on 2/8/25Terrace Theater - Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center - Long BeachRating: 4 out of 5

The recent touring company of "BOM"was my 2nd time seeing the show (1st time when it first came to LA a few years back). I was really happy that the Long Beach Performing Arts theatre was finally being used as a legit theatre again, but I digress. The touring company was great! The show was naturally "South Park"funny as you would expect. The casting was on point! My only gripe is with the sound system! I don't know if it was the theatre or if the company technicians were not sitting in the auditorium during rehearsals, but the sound was awful! 90% of the lyrics were lost and/or overpowered by the orchestra. Great voices were drowned out, and if you weren't familiar with the songs, you may be wondering (ALLOT!) what was being sung. And with this show, there are a ton of tongue-in-cheek jokes in those lyrics! There's a fine balance that needs to be achieved between your orchestra and your actors. Lower that band's volume a bit more and crank up the head mics on the cast! Have fun!

  • Fun but lots of missed notes

by Jesster on 2/7/25Terrace Theater - Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center - Long BeachRating: 3 out of 5

I’ve now seen Book of Mormon 5 times and this was definitely the worst one. The leads had difficulty hitting their notes. And the Long Beach Terrace Theater needs to NOT allow patrons to bring food into the theater. I had to listen to the woman behind me crunching on tacos during the opening number, a woman in the row in front of us had a giant bag of chips, and the guy next to me was munching on a pretzel and ice. The show was fun as always but left much to be desired.

  • venue for Book of mormons was bad

by jose b on 2/7/25Terrace Theater - Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center - Long BeachRating: 3 out of 5

I've seen book of mormons at the pantages and the phonics there is great. at the long beach terrace not great at all. show was good.

  • If only we could hear what they were saying! !

by LeeD on 2/7/25Terrace Theater - Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center - Long BeachRating: 2 out of 5

1st time so we were excited to see this show. Sadly, the audio mix was terrible. All the actors mics were too low so it was difficult to hear the dialogue and almost impossible to understand them when the music soundtrack was playing. Wasn't just us either....heard same feedback from many and we were in middle of the theater.

  • Hysterical, clever and entertaining

by Burgermeister on 2/1/25Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 5 out of 5

This is my 2nd time seeing Book of Mormon. First time was back in 2013, so it had been over 11 years. It was just as funny as I remembered. Highly recommended.

  • Amazing As Always

by Chris on 2/1/25Fox Performing Arts Center - RiversideRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Book of Mormon three times before, and this presentation was as amazing as the other three. The show is perfect is so many ways: humor, music, lyrics, costumes, sets, etc.
