  • Book of Hilarity

by expresso on 2/5/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Finally got to this show. Parker, Lopez, and Stone have written one of the most clever, most hilarious musicals to ever hit Broadway. The talent and energy on stage is absolutely exhilarating. A must see if you love to laugh!

  • Not your classic musical

These aren't show tunes you'll go home singing, but it was such a great time. Not for the politically correct.

  • Book of Mormon with a terrible View

    by Gi50 on 2/3/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

Went to see The Book of Mormon on Sunday, and what I call an unique experience. I was a 1st time visitor to the theatre, taking my Husband to his 1st NYC broadway show experience. It was a special occasion, celebrating my 50th birthday. We Spent the extra money to sit in orchestra, only to find out the seats were jammed packed, sat down to to delightful smells of someone having flatulence issues, and was super lucky to be seated behind a guest who was taller than me. The guest in front of me was delighted with her long head of nasty hair. Throughout the show she thought it was appropriate to swing her head side to side, throwing her long locks, resulting in her hair flying in front of my face all while trying to enjoy a expensive evening out with my husband. TBH I actually pulled her hair several times, thinking she would get the point. It wasn't until we got to intermission where I had to tell her to stop. My husband who happens to be a lot taller than me, didn't have a problem. Gosh, I don't know, spending a lot of money to only see a big head of hair in front me, definitely had me irritated. Despite my sitting frustration, I did find the show to funny, but just not the "belly funny" i anticipated. I now think the "hair disaster" and "farting smells" might have been funnier, just wish it didn't cost me as much! All in all the actors are delightfully talented individuals, the set & costume design was nothing memorable.

  • Fantastic

    by Giaco1 on 2/3/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The Book of Mormon was the funniest play I have ever seen on Broadway. It's fast paced and the music is outstanding. It's everything a Broadway play should be!

  • The Book of Mormon is one of the best musical ever

    by Del10583 on 2/3/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

We absolutely loved it! It was funny, smart, unconventional, well played, well sung... We didn't except it to be so incredible. I ordered the book with the lyrics right after the show to make sure I understood everything. I don't want to miss a word of the scenario! Go, go, go!

  • MUST SEE!!!

by HannahAndNeal on 2/3/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This musical was amazing!!! We came all the way to NYC (from Chicago) just for the show, and I would do it again in a heartbeat!

  • Not what we expected, disappointing

by JVMay on 2/2/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

My wife and I both were disappointed, we were expecting more. We had heard positive reviews from friends of ours, but we did not find it particularly funny or inspiring. We spent a lot on 4th row Center orchestra seats (About $450 each), and felt it was not worth it. My wife wanted to leave at intermission, but stayed because we spent so much on the tickets . The actors and actresses were extremely talented, but the show was just not that great!

  • Book of Mormon was awesome!

    by Barbaraholz13 on 2/2/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Omg I had no idea what to expect but this was by far one of the best shows I have seen. My husband and I had no clue what the show was about and we both loved...loved it!

  • Was truly a lot of fun

    by Lovethetheater25 on 2/2/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I laughed so hard that my cheeks hurt. Things happened that I never saw coming but in a hysterical way.

  • The Book Of Mormon

by Sheagan on 2/1/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Hilarious from start to Finish, lived up to all the reviews.

  • If you have any Christian sensitivity, do not see!

    by floored2 on 1/31/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 1 out of 5

the theater is beautiful, the singing was great and the actors are very talented. However, the good ends there. I was appalled by this play. As soon as the 2 missionaries arrive in Africa, the profanity and blasphemy begins. The F word is used at least 50 times, and the subject of raping babies is a horrible topic of which to make fun. There is plenty more that I could say, but I will stop there.

  • Funny if you are/were ever a Mormon

    by Papa5455 on 1/31/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

Good seats. Nice theather. However, did not find The Book of Mormon that funny. If you are or ever were a Mormon, then perhaps you will find it more funnier then we did. For us, it was average.

  • WORTH EVERY DOLLAR SPENT!

by Maldonna on 1/29/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

We attend NY theatre on a regular basis and had yet to see BOM because I had heard and seen several negative reviews mixed amongst some friends and family who loved it. A few weeks ago my husband decided that we should see the show for his birthday. I anticipated the worst and was amazingly surprised at just how much we enjoyed it. A bit racey in the whole Mormon goes to Africa storyline but yet I enjoyed the music, wonderful dancing and hilarious comedy. If you love theatre it is a must see!

  • Fantastic

by DBLAJL on 1/25/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Hilarious, laughed until it hurt. Will definitely return!! Have to mention the ushers in this theater were absolutely wonderful. We had seats last row of the orchestra "Row S", even though it is 2 steps up the initial view was only partially clear until the usher that happened to be standing behind us went & got us booster cushions (without us asking) they were a great help, we had a fantastic view of the stage then!! Thank you to all of the staff, you guys are wonderful.

  • loud and sophomoric

by lookingformgoodtimes on 1/25/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

After seeing the Putnam County Spelling Bee years ago, I was eager to see Book of Mormon. It did not live up to my expectations. While the large talented cast was excellent throughout, the humor seemed sophomoric. It reminded me of performances put on at Stuyvesant High (without all the profanity). The amplification grated on my senses. It was not worth the cost of the ticket.

  • Rediculously Funny

by MrFunhog on 1/24/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Go see this movie..... Good to note that most of the action takes place center stage. Crazy funny... more dirty than I thought.... I saw someone with a kid about 13 years old....not good for that age....would stick with adults. From the South Park Guys so if your a fan, the are a few throw back references that you will notice. The cast was perfect and the voices are incredibly strong. Bottom line is , really really funny, great cast, great show... go see.

  • Overhyped

    by Broadway483Junkie on 1/23/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

If you love South park humor and have $125 a ticket, you may love this. If you are an ex Mormon (as one of our group was, you will find the jokes funnier and get more of the rapid fire jokes in the songs). Personally I thought Hand to God was more well done and entertaining for a religious parody. My friend and I are both avid theater goers and we both left scratching our heads as to the hype of this show. It was like watching South Park acted out in a large highschool theater with a big budget for costumes and choreography. We smiled and even laughed at some of the outlandishness. Best scenes were Spooky Mormon hell dream and African village play acting out the Book of Mormon with some skewed details from their imaginative teacher. There were definitely clever moments - just not worth the price of admission in my book. I was glad I had free tickets. One other musical theater key factor for good show for me is - am I humming one of the songs after the show or the next day? Or is there a song that could live outside the show's context. I didn't find either here. Here are some shows I have liked Hamilton, Rent, Art, How I learned to drive, Next to Normal, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Producers, Curious incident, Proof, Doubt, American in Paris, Bloody bloody Andrew Jackson and more
