They play the songs you want to hear, sure. But there is no interaction with the audience or anything else that raises this to anything other than average. The sound was decent, but psychedelic bands really need to hit just the right tone. It was close but the instruments could have been either thicker for the psychedelic vibe or crisper to play over that vibe.
Absolutely rocked the place. Vocals a tad too buried for my ears. But band sounded great.
Been seeing the black angels for years now. This show was great, they are amazing musicians. The new stuff was definitely going in a different direction, however, and i found i missed the old sound, dark, psychedelic and mysterious. The new stuff was very wordy, with romantic themes, that i just dont equate with such a band. So it was still a good experience, just not to my personal taste, expecting what i was expecting.
The always solid performers from Austin had their experience enhanced by the great backdrop of the House of Blues. If only the venue allowed them to play another 20+ minutes!
First time at Delmar Hall and will definitely be going back. Sound was wonderful. Black Angels were fabulous. Great energy, great sound.
Go frigin’ see this band if you haven’t! There sound pulls you in, & doesn’t let you go!
Outstanding band, great live show. Highly recommended.
After seeing the Black Angels in such an intimate space of the Back Yard, it still has me in a state of musical rapture. A multi sensory experience. So very thankful that the Black Angels are creating and expressing for all of us to savor. Words can not truly describe this kind of show.
Both the music and the production of the visuals was unforgettable. Can’t wait to to see them play again
If you like the Black Angels, you should definitely make a point to see them live. Very dynamic set, switching between some of the heavier stuff and some of the softer, slower stuff. Awesome visuals, too.
Show was great. I've tried to see them 2 other times, but didn't for whatever reason. I will not skip them again for "whatever" reasons! I love HOB. By far my favorite music venue in DFW, and I go to a lot of the them. My only problem with this show was I got contact high. There was so much smoking going on here. I don't mind if people do that, but I can't due to drug testing at work. Had to keep changing my location, but couldn't get away from it...ha-ha! Oh well. Again, amazing show!
Best Black Angels show I've seen! Would have like a longer set from Car Seat Headrest, but still a great concert. House of Blues is a good venue, but there beer prices are ridiculous.
We saw them at the 930 Club in DC. Visually it was entertaining and they came off strong for the first three songs. However, after the fourth...the fifth...the sixth...THE SEVENTH...song they never changed keys or played more than the same five notes. VARIETY PLEASE...!!! AND TRY A DIFFERENT TEMPO...!!! After the eightg song or so we couldn't take it any more. Repetition drives me NUTS
Of course it does not matter where the Angels play, they will rock your socks off. This is a rock show, the band is there to perform, so don't expect interaction lol. This is the second time I've seen them and they were that way the first time also. You will not be disappointed in their show. This venue is pretty much a new one, and it's fabulous. Max 750 capacity makes for an unforgettable experience. Facilities are clean and drinks were affordable plus the area is great for day and night life. Will be back!
The Black Angels were AMAZING!!! The theatre was a really cool atmosphere. Standing room only. Felt like I was watching a local show - very intimate with the band.
I follow the band for a while and was mostly well surprised that they are even better live than in studio. The concert was just awesome.
From the beginning to the end The Black Angels entertained us with a superior light show, superb playing and the togetherness of the band. I have never seen a show as amazing as this and I have been going to shows for over 20 years! I would definitely see these guys every time they come to town.
The first time I saw the Black Angels I considered it one of the best shows I had seen. So I was really excited to see them this time (being my 2nd show). Keep in mind I wasn't too familiar with the new album. The opener was super fun to watch. The had a super energetic stage presence and I loved their songs. When the Black Angels came on I was excited but immediately noticed the energy level was no where near what the openers had, granted that is their style. Towards the end of the show, I was ready to leave. All in all I liked the opener better.
Awesome. One of my favorite bands definitely worth seeing again and again. Great show!
