    Sound

by Dee Dee on 3/8/22San Diego Civic Theatre - San Diego

I think the cast was talented. It was very difficult to hear some of the cast members. We had decent seats, row L that should not have been an issue. Because, it had won best musical years back and was billed as a musical we expected more music.

    Delightful and fresh!

by Ckg on 3/8/22San Diego Civic Theatre - San Diego

This was a unique and fresh musical experience. The story was poignant and humorous. The music was rich and the musicians were fantastic! It was a quieter story which drew one into the lives of the characters in a way that kept one asking questions after leaving the theater.

    If Only We Could've Heard

by Maria D on 3/8/22San Diego Civic Theatre - San Diego

The play was sweet, and a good story. The dialogue was so muffled by the thick accents that a lot of what was said was not understood. The volume used by the actors would have been appropriate for a much smaller venue. Much of the songs' lyrics were inaudible. We sat in Row T of the orchestra, and the same comments were made by others behind and in front of us. The problem was also discussed by the ladies waiting in line for the restroom. Because it was so difficult to hear, I'm sure I missed a lot of the subleties in characterizations and in actors' nuances. So, gave it an "aveage" rating.

    Wonderful show terrible sound

by Mike on 3/7/22San Diego Civic Theatre - San Diego

The experience was sadly disappointing due to poor sound in the theater. Dialogue was muddy and difficult to comprehend. On a side note the conductor monitor was so bright as to be terribly distracting. We were seated in the center of the orchestra section.

    Good performance poor venue

by Lynne on 3/7/22San Diego Civic Theatre - San Diego

Performance was very good. The venue tarnished the overall experience.

    Good

by Bill on 3/7/22San Diego Civic Theatre - San Diego

Music and story were excellent. Dialog was very difficult to hear and understand and I was in Row R, I listened to the music and lyrics on Spotify and I am glad I did, otherwise I would have missed a lot of the story.

    AMAZING

by SabRae on 3/7/22San Diego Civic Theatre - San Diego

What a fabulous show..exceeded my expectations and then some. The premise of the story was simple yet entertaining. The talents of the performers were stupendous. The band itself was a delight to listen to as was the singing.

    When Broadway Theatre Enhances Everything

by Dr. Ken on 3/6/22San Diego Civic Theatre - San Diego

The Band's Visit joins truly brilliant shows like Come From Away that are refreshingly different, theatrically masterful, deeply inspiring and speak to everything that is happening in the world today. I have not stopped replaying songs, scenes and unforgetable moments that I will undoubtedly remember for a lifetime. How blessed are we to have live theatre in our lives, and to be able to make sure our grandkids do as well.

    Disappointed

by Ginny on 3/6/22San Diego Civic Theatre - San Diego

Disappointed … I’m sure it was a very good musical but with the heavy accents none of the four of us were able to understand what was being said. The voices we’re excellent…

    Wonderful Show! Highly Recommend!

    by JW on 3/5/22

We saw this show in San Diego at The Civic Theatre and thoroughly enjoyed it! The cast, music, and stage settings were fantastic. We didn't want it to end! Cannot understand the negative reviews.

My In-laws' Visits are more enjoyable

by PyrLover on 3/4/22San Diego Civic Theatre - San Diego

I can't begin to understand why this musical has been awarded so many honors. The only two positives I can come up with are 1) it was not your typical musical, and 2) the cast did seem to enjoy their roles. I saw this in San Diego at the Civic Theater. It was too large a venue for the detail of the dialogue. Whatever story line(s) I did catch were poorly developed and often seemed jagged. I'm left SMH.

    AMAZING PRODUCTION, despite other reviews

    by anonymous on 3/4/22

The Band's Visit is a simply beautiful, funny, heart-touching musical. As an avid theatergoer and someone who often participates in theater, I would wholeheartedly recommend you go see this show. You will laugh, smile, and cry.

    Lovely story

by Seer on 3/3/22Centennial Hall - Tucson

An intimate show rather than a big blast musical . Very fulfilling but the sound quality a problem so all 4 people we attended with had trouble with the lyrics and dialogue.

The first time I’ve left a live performance

by Sue on 3/2/22Centennial Hall - Tucson

We left The Band’s Visit after suffering through the first 30 minutes. I have seen many performances at Centennial Hall while seated in the mezzanine section. This production was not suitable for a venue the size of Centennial Hall- we were unable to hear and see. We were very disappointed and this was a waste of money

    Disappointing

by Sjp on 3/2/22Centennial Hall - Tucson

Sound was terrible. Everyone in my group had difficulty with the dialogue. If I hadn’t seen the movie, I would have been completely lost.
